We went here a while ago but wanted to save you tourists from wasting your money. Food took forever and a half to come out, the waitress was incompetent and rude and when the food finally did come out, it was tasteless and cold (not to mention, RIDICULOUSLY OVERPRICED). We were ready for some Mexican food after being on the road for awhile and we definitely were not disappointed! Our server was very nice and attentive and brought our drinks right away. We each ordered a margarita and they were great, served in super cute terra cotta cups. The chips and salsa were fresh and delicious. The chips look house made and were nice and crisp and warm. We each ordered a combination plate intending to share but we both dove right in! The food is truly authentic! Having lived in Mexico and visited most areas, the food isn't all spiced up like here in America. True Mexican food lets the flavors of the food shine, not the spices. After camping in Worland, and finding nothing open in Basin, I was directed from reception in the historic Grey Bull hotel to this unassuming place across the street. I had excellent h.r. and coffee and chatted with a big group of bikers heading west after attending the Sturgis bike rally. Breakfast was nicely prepared and the waitress competent. read more

The food was not good at all, even the rice and beans were tasteless. A chimichanga was so overcooked it was dark brown. We asked for an additional serving of chips and salsa as the complimentary serving was very small. We were told that there would be an upcharge, which was fine, but it was $9.50 and the chips were horribly overcooked. Prices are high. Lunch for three was $80. It's no wonder that they had few customers and the other Mexican restaurant in town was busy. We won't be back. To their credit the service was friendly. read more

Hi all, I hope everyone out there had a great meal tonight! First off, I need to clarify that I have never left a negative Yelp review. If I have, I don't remember. It's not my style. I am generally easy to please. However, tonight I was served possibly the worst food that I have experienced in decades. I was the last walk in customer. Empty restaurant, two other diners. I waited 45 minutes for my extremely simple order (gorditas with carne asada, essentially quesadillas.) . First off, the rice and beans were cold. As in, 'left outside' cold. I had a bite, and thought, oh well, things happen. (I worked as a line cook decades ago, I am empathetic). Then I had two bites of the Gorditas. BOTH bites rewarded me with chewy, gristly meat, which I had to remove and put on the plate. To say I was disappointed was an understatement. The waitress saw me put down the food, and get up. I put $20.00 on the table, ($16.00 tab) and she asked me what was up. I realized the other diners were locals, and didn't want to be a dîck, so I told them in fairly quiet Spanish exactly why it was inedible. The owner heard, but didn't intervene. It was the first time I can remember actually being a little repulsed by the food. Pero tengo otra pequeña queja con respecto a la camarera. Me doy cuenta de que ella es absolutamente bilingüe, al igual que yo. Sin embargo, si alguien se dirige a ti en buen español, lo educado es responder en español. I can see how a lot of people end up eating here because it's almost unavoidable after you pass through Big Horn on the way to Yellowstone or up to Montana. And, as other Yelpers point out, Greybull doesn't offer a lot (but a helluva lot more than the previous town which has a population of 78). Los Gabanes is large and spacious, but that doesn't equate well to the food which is average. While the food is hot and fresh, that doesn't translate well to actual taste. I had the chips and salsa, which were under-salted, and then the steak fajita platter. It was a good amount of food, and I had to take some to go, but the quality wasn't that great. That is kind of a let down, especially since the price was $16 or so. So, if you are looking for a really good meal that makes you want to photograph your food and share it with the world ... this isn't the place :) read more

Traveling through we stopped in and had a fantastic dinner! Salsa was so good that we went through 2 bowls of it! Had the smothered al pastor burrito with green Chile sauce. It was excellent. The red sauce is very good, too. I told my husband that I did not want my burrito to end! You will not be disappointed! All prepared from scratch. Great little place for breakfast. Eggs were perfectly cook, sorry I ate the evidence, hash browns were very good and the toast, other than missing butter, was lightly toasted and good. Coffee was very good, just the way I like it and the waitress even brought me a spoon to mix my fixing. Im surprised at the places I've been that forget the spoon and I have to improvise or ask for one. Overall a great place, may come back for lunch. Highly recommend. read more

Wonderful service, best I've had in WY! If you're driving through Wyoming, you'll come to realize very quickly that there aren't a ton of choices for places to stop and eat, and even fewer open past 7pm. So I was happy to stop here and get a meal and margarita! The tacos were good, flavorful although a touch dry. The guacamole, salsa and chips were standard. I enjoyed the marg as it came served in an interesting ceramic cup and was not too sweet! All in all, a great place to rest and fuel up after a day of adventuring in Thermopolis! read more

Oh good grief !!! I ordered chicken nachos. Waitress was like pure GOLD, sweeter than any of my daughters friends. I asked her if I could exchange one of my daughters for her. So, smart, great common sense and then she brought out those nacho's. They were perfect, I tried something new - I crunched them up and ate it like a salad. I had dinner plans later, I thought I would only eat a little but good golly miss molly, I ate it all and resisted to lick the plate. I could "hang around here with friends" . I expect good eats like this in San Diego, Orange County CA, but this beats "El Torito in CA ANYTIME". Yes, in Grey Bull, this place is trending and will keep getting better, but those nachos.....are perfect. read more

We were on the way to Cody and were desperate for food. Saw the Mexican food signs and decorations as we went by, and went around the block. Glad we did! Very happy with the food and service. The place has some good reviews and I was passing by on the way to Yellowstone so thought I give it a try. Should have tried another place. Everything had no taste. Ordered the tamales rice and beans worse I ever had. Tamales and rice are dry and plain. Beans are plain no taste but homemade. Everything we tried to order before that choice they are out of. Lunch time and they are out already???!The meals are very simple and easy to make. I am TEX-MEX and I know how simple they are to make with taste. I guess they are the only Mexican place in town so they will stay in business. We stopped at this place after a day in Cody, WY based on Yelp reviews. Oops. The service was poor. We had two different waiters take our drink order and never bring our drinks. We had to ask each time we needed a refill on drinks as well as chips/salsa. Our party of four waited 35 minutes for nachos and quesadillas. One member of the party received his order a full 15 minutes after the rest of the table! When we inquired about his plate, the response was: "they don't speak English at all in the back". The food was only memorable because it was the worst Mexican food we've ever had. Canned cheese was used for the nachos; well, for the four chips that had cheese on them anyway. They did not have queso on the menu and the waiter seemed quite puzzled when we asked about getting some. He did bring us a bowl of queso eventually. Unfortunately, it was canned cheese and it was NOT HEATED. To top off our dining experience, we were charged for chips and salsa--even after our 35 minute wait for food. Poor service and bad food make my review for this restaurant ZERO stars. Please save your appetite and your money for a business that cares enough to provide quality food and competent service in exchange for your hard-earned money. Sadly, our $55.00 meal left us hungrier than when we arrived here. read more

Food wasn't bad...... (onions and cilantro can do a lot!) Customer service sucked! We were told to take our ticket "over there" and the person had to use a calculator, left the cash drawer open to go get the calculator and did not count back my change, just sat it on the counter and said oh yea, your change is 12.87! Great chile rellenos snd they sell my favorite soda, Jarritos! The portions are huge and could easily be shared. The menu offers a nice selection if Mexican fare including tortas. Lovely Mexican music overhead and a nice selection of Mexican beers. I am definitely coming back. read more

My wife and I stopped by after returning from Riverton and heading home to Cowley. We heard some good things but after eating there we disagree. The positive was we had a lot of chicken on our nachos but not much taste. Not authentic to us when you get canned cheese sauce and very little regular cheese. Salsa was just o.k. but was charged for extra when our nachos was suppose to come with salsa and did not. Waitress was very un-friendly and prices seemed high. Sour cream was on the side as ordered but very watered down. We were pretty disappointed and will not return. read more
