Apart from the nice service the home made bread tastes with the dip and the Pardon Peppers- the fried green peppers (I hope I wrote it right)has also left a great impression! The paella was made fresh, so it's worthy waiting half an hour for this!

Had a group of 16, ordered paella for 6 (it's made fresh here, they need at least 30 minutes…read morenotice!) and rest ordered a la carte - everything was excellent and the service was great, what I expect people mean with the cliched "like family" expression. Here are the highlights: We had earlier reservations, but were late. No problem. The staff there were very friendly, and they saved our spot (just let them know via phone that you're still coming). The ambiance of this place is great! (5 star) It is an old house that was converted into a restaurant, and the central plaza that connected all of the rooms has been converted into the central dining area. They have hung ferns and other plants all over the place. The menu was presented in several languages, so ordering was easy. Our waiter was friendly, although he was very busy taking care of his guests (the waiter to guest ratio is very high on the island). We ordered the soup made exclusively from vegetables grown from the Canary Islands, and the mixed seafood grill for two. The soup was delicious, and the seafood grill was wonderful, although all of the seafood came in the shell (we weren't expecting that - our weakness, not the restaurant's). The grill had lobster, large jumbo prawns, clams, and muscles. It was delicious, and the had tartar and salsa to compliment the food (not that it was needed). My wife had a small bottle of Viña Esmeralda 2011, and I had a small bottle of Monje, a red Rioja from the Canaries. For dessert, my wife had a mango parfait, and I had the white and dark chocolate mousse (see pictures). Anyway Michelin recomendation are allways a good recomendation with a few exeptions like cruise ships. We came to early for lunsh and had to wait in the street. Right across you can get your feet and hands done even by fish. Right on time they opened without to much friendliness, but still professional. The entrance has a maritime theme with bad lightning. I was first a bit supprised with two a bit dirty aquaria and without fish and shellfish. Next we came to a the head waiters desk and overlooked a great patio. The building are two floors with chambree separe and rooms enough to have big groups. The toilets where fresh and really nice. But the most charming where the turtle in a fountain in the middle of the patio, wow what a charm. We where seated in less comfy chairs, to steepand table to smal for four just enough for two. So building and interior is a six, draw for fish tanks, lighting on fish tanks and uncomfy chairs. This followed us troughout, they seemed a bit stressed. And english was not fluent to say it in a gentle way. But when thats said, pro dressed, pro acting and some charming moments. A litle off pairing winw and brew with food. Dirty plates where not remowed until late. And they want away with my VISA for a long time, and answered with bad excuses why when I asked, twice. Its hard to get good score without great first impression, without good english, slow removal of empty plates and a hidden Visa card. More or less than I expect. I say less, but the profesiality movet them up from two to three. 25% value. We ordered rabit and todays catch. I got to choose the size of the fish. Both taste like exellent homemade cooking. Presentation was traditional, and not much creativity. We asked what beer and wine they would pair and they dominated the rabit and fish. But alone very tasy local wine and brew. Fish came opend and not a filet, rabit in a great sause. Both plates lacked final touch og love and colour. I cant really rember the tastes so well four days later so it didnt make a big impression. Michelin was right simple cooking but well worth a going. Cooking a strong four = 4,5. 50% value They had a Bib gourmad i 2013 not anymore, why? Sum it up 2 x dinner, 2 x beer, 1/2 bottle red wine local, 2 x coffe and 1 x botle water = 47,29 = Good Value. And a turtle that just was a charm. 5 Euro tip where greatly appretiated. We ordered the steak with sauted potated for me and risotto for my wife and both wher of the better steaks we have gotten. They had made the troble of stacking the potatoes in a smal fortress for me. The sause was a redused sause og red wine and port that was very good. Only thing was that I would like more colour on my plate with a sald leaf, orange or anything. My wifs risotto was goid with nicely cooked vegetables. They all tried their best and made a big effort to make ut happy, even a local shnapps et the end. So I might suggest adding the soda in an americano coctail in the begining, not have to buy a whole bottle. Add some colour to the steake or sell inn a side salad. Dim the lights and have a cosy candle. A place to recomend even at close to 70 Euro for two apertif, one botle of beer, to beef. It deserves a 4,5 star food, 5 star service, 3,5 star interior. Then I eaven to four. With smal changes this is a five star.

I had read some really good reviews on other sites so I decided to give this place a try, and made reservations. Since my wife and I only have a couple of days in Puerto de la Cruz, we wanted to make sure this was a winner. It was! First thing to note is that our server was from Belgium, and he spoke five different languages fluently! This made ordering from the menu (Spanish, but with English text as well) easy to do. It was interesting hearing him switch back and forth between languages as he tended the various tables. Since a lot of British visit Tenerife, we knew there was a good chance we would have little difficulty. We decided to go with the Menu Sopresa (surprise) and get five courses, with a mixture of meat, fish, and vegetables: The first course was a light mixed salad with fruit, muscles, and prawns. It had a light sauce that complimented the meat and fruit and didn't overpower the salad. Perfecto! The second course was a carrot soup with fresh pieces of orange in it. While I thought it was good, my wife didn't care for it so much. The third course was a salad with large, breaded, jumbo prawns, which were freshly caught that morning. Terrific seafood! The fourth course was a venison stew that was to die for! The meat was so tender, you didn't need a knife. It was served with homemade potatoes that were sliced and then fried into a cake-like patty. There was also a scoop of cranberries that complimented the venison perfectly! The fifth course was a dessert of tiramisu with a scoop of coconut mousse. It was a good finisher to the meal, and while the coconut mousse stood out, the tiramisu was identical to others I've had (but good). The wine was really good too. I chose a red Spanish Rioja wine, recommended by our waiter, and my wife had a moscatel and Gewürztraminer blend. Delicious, and complemented the meal well. I would like to mention that the menu had lots of alternatives to the menu sopresa, so if you're in the mood for something lighter or something specific, you cannot go wrong here. To sum it up, I would highly recommend Mil Sabores if you find yourself in Puerto de la Cruz, even if it is for one evening. Make sure you make reservations though, as getting a table can be difficult on a busy evening.
