An excellent place to visit if you are holidaying on the island of Lanzarote…read more We arrived before it opened for the first tour, which wont set off for around 15-20 mins after opening, until they have enough people. This irked me a bit, waiting for a large group for the tour to start. We then ended up at the end of group as everyone who spoke Spanish was let on ahead while the English spiel was given. Oh well. Apart from that the tour was excellent. The cave system very impressive. The guide was a nice lady with good English and German, so most visitors were catered for. Worth a look. PS if you travel further up the road towards Orzola, on the right there will be a scattering of lovely beaches. There is parking here too, so pack your trunks too if you make the drive up to La Cueva de los Verdes.

City Centre was about one half mile from the port and easily accessible by foot. There were taxis awaiting for those who wanted to venture further or were unable to walk. The land is volcanic making for a scenery void of much greenery. Cacti had been planted by the port to beautify it. Houses along the Marina are all painted white with a little bit of color on the window sills. Restaurant after restaurant along the main walkway. we came to a pedestrian only street full of local flavor businesses, street vendors, singers, a person doing the tango and many more restaurants. A group of parents and their children walked for the awareness of autism. We stopped to buy a t shirt and poke around the many stores. A very simple town that was enjoyable and full of flavor. On our return trip, I purchased some shoes along the Marina and drooled over a few Frida Kahlo bags. I resisted the urge. Photos to follow shortly.
