We paused and saw another car coming from another direction, we we waited to see which way they were going. They steamed ahead on this dirt road, so we followed them. And sure enough it was the way the Playa de Papagayo. At the entrance you pay the man 3 EUR to allow you to continue by car. And you should, it's a fair trek to the beaches from here. We've noticed that if it's after 5pm, the man is usually gone home for the day. Continuing on three are four beaches you can go to. We went to Playa Mujeres both times, where we had great snorkelling experiences. The best action was on the right hand side of the beach as you look out to sea. We saw a big Octopus eating a fish!! And there is an awesome cave around the corner. At this end you'll find the regular beach goers. If you go to the other end you'll find the nudist friendly area. I understand most beaches are nudist friendly in Lanzatote, but the naturists are conscious enough to designate themselves areas or keep to the lesser frequented parts. Despite the bumpy roads, Papagayo is highly recommended. There's parking, nice sand and great snorkelling.

Coralejo town is a step away and you can sun yourself all day and then hit the bars or restaurants in the evening. There are several araprtments which open onto this beach and the next beaches and they are all readily affordable.

The drink I ordered, a non alcoholic cocktail, was well presented and refreshing. You can get food there and I saw many people with delicious plates of fries, salad. On your right there are lots of places to grab a bite to eat, a drink and do a bit shopping, walk further along to your left and you'll come across public toilets which weren't the best, dirty and no loo roll but also along this way you'll find hundreds of black crabs which I got excited about, my niece not so much but a lovely place to visit whilst in costa Teguise.

Lots of British tourists and a few locals use the beach die to the close proximity of all inclusive resorts. The volcanic rocks surrounding the beach are attractive as they contrast with the sand. Many Lanzarote beaches have black sand. A tip is to go to the edges of the beach where there are less people. Water temp, even in the winter, is tolerable. Great views at sunset, as well!

Relaxation, fun, and adrenaline pumping activities are all available to visitors of this unusual holiday spot. I have visited twice in recent years. The first time I stayed at the Hotel Riu Palace Tres Islas Correlejo, and the second at the Sheraton Fuerteventura Beach, Golf and Spa Resort just below Fustes. My family and I are at a consensus on the latter being the preferred of the resorts, and so I will use this resort for my review, but both were of high quality. We are not a family to bury our heads in the sand and remain in one spot even if there's a cocktail in the hand and towel miraculously on a sun bed. Water sports, and our first forays below the waves with scuba were exhilarating and well taught. The location offers a variety of marine life to investigate which holds the attention and inspires the mind. A hotspot of kite-surfing activity, the hundreds of kites soaring above tiny little black specks moving in leaps and bounds seemed an essential part of the seascape by the time we left. Flying fish entertained us whilst we sipped honey rum on a short but enjoyable catamaran trip to Lanzarote. Sea spray exfoliating our faces and whipping our hair into a frenzy reminiscent of Monica Geller's vacation in Barbados, we caught sight of the Isla de Lobos; a nature reserve richly populated with rare birds and beautiful vegetation. An idyllic and serene site that contrasts sharply with the nearby Canary Island Lanzarote. Welcomed back to the hotel each day by the smells wafting from the mouth-watering cuisine, we promptly headed to the kitchen and dining area where freshly caught fish was cooked before your eyes. A memorable dish from the restaurant which I have since tried to recreate were 'papas arrugadas con mojo', a garlicky treat for consumer but terror for any other human being in close proximity to you. We had elected an all-inclusive package which successfully filled the bellies of my brother and father; an incredible feat. The staff was friendly, the service quick, and the hotel blessedly cool and clean. The rooms were spacious and decorated pleasantly, and we had a balcony with a striking view over the coastline, pool and surrounding area. One of the main features that originally attracted us to the hotel was the waterfall and moat-style layout, which both enhanced the resort aesthetically and encouraged a tranquil atmosphere. I returned home feeling calm, and satisfied that my time and money had been well spent. I highly recommend both the Island and the hotel. Nice hotel for families very close to the airport. Huge…read morebuffet for breakfast and dinner. We got a nice room with a huge terrace. Was nice to sit there and listen the waterfall. The room cleaning was not so good. I had to call them to kindly ask to clean the toilets. The gym ok as well as the Spa but we couldn't manage to have any treatment. The bar offer after dinner was poor and there was nothing outside close to the hotel. I wouldn't say I had a relaxed vacation, but looked like children enjoyed the place.
