Mexican food has always been my favorite. Los palominos is the BEST i have ever had. there is nothing there I have ever even remotely disliked and I have been there 50+ times. The service was horrible the whole time he was talking to a girl and never came to fill our drinks or our chips and salsa I think I might look at the names when I write reviews people need to know who not to go to this man was terrible I don't know how people like this have a job. Best Mexican restaurant in mount pleasant! To start, their chips and salsa are the best! The queso that you can get as an appetizer is also amazing. I have gotten multiple things from there and each time they have been amazing. Their chimichangas come with queso on top and they are delicious!! Their burritos are also great and I really love their quesadillas as well. Their rice and refried beans are also great. The prices here are unbeatable! At first this unassuming strip mall restaurant gives off an air of "oh another Mexican place"...although within this place is served some fantastic home style meals...I was in the mood for "TACOS dorados" hard shell tacos....I ordered beef and chicken...they did not disappoint the beef reminded me of childhood days eating tacos at the park with all of my family..flavor was good and that little bit of drip from the meat...yum...but for all of you out there I would recommend the chicken taco...great flavor soft and tender meat that melds with the queso (cheese) and lettuce that complement the taco...there you have it...I give 4 stars...why not five...beans...I measure a place by the staple food...the beans needed a bit more seasoning...so make it a must try on your Mexican food wants....Rayfer out.... read more

Went for Sunday lunch while driving through MP. Extensive menu! Saw lots of regular customers who ordered quickly. Great chips- crisp, but light. Good salsa. Combo fajitas well prepared. Yummy tomatillo sauce on chicken enchiladas. Good house frozen margarita. We are from TX and this is one of our top 5 Mexican places we've tried in MI. A litmus test for us is the basic cheese enchilada. Their red sauce was not our favorite. We liked the red table salsa. Their chips are SO good that another good variety of salsa served as one sits down would have turned this to a 5-star review. We really would return, no matter what! read more

Salsa is fantastic - great of those who can't eat bell peppers. Great prices - I always order without the white cheese, as I have discovered I'm not a fan, however this is authentic Mexican. I went to Los Palominos because of positive reviews. The prices are very low, which was a point in its favor. The ambiance and the service were fine. The food was served quickly. However, I was a bit disappointed in the food, which was just average. The complementary chips tasted nearly burned and the salsa was just OK. The tamale was good (nice, tender shredded pork in it), but I was disappointed by the chile relleno, which had been recommended in a couple of reviews. It had the thinnest of batter coatings (almost not enough to taste) and was covered with the same generic red sauce as the tamale. The odd thing was that both tamale and relleno had plain browned chunky ground beef (no seasoning) liberally sprinkled on top of the sauce. Having meat is not what I'm used to in a classic relleno. Now I know why the vegetarian platter section didn't list the rellenos. So it's not a bad place--just nothing exceptional. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is authentic Mexican cuisine, and they have a huge selection to choose from. Their quality of ingredients is critical to me, as well. I tend to get the same thing each time because I love their shrimp dishes (e.g. fajitas, angel special, etc.). No skimping on the shrimp, or other ingredients for that matter. This is our favorite place in town and to dine at any other Mexican place in town would be to break a sacrament. We don't come here for the décor and really it could use a serious face lift but the food is so good. Portion sizes are great and the food is the most authentic I've had being non-Hispanic and from Michigan. Like most regulars we have our favorite wait staff and there with the exception of one owner/employee they are all great. Most of the meals come with the option of beef or chicken and I always recommend going with chicken, especially if you want those authentic flavors that Taco Bell will be forever missing. The complimentary salsa (they put fresh cilantro in it) and chips are fantastic and you can actually buy salsa to take home which I love. The pico de gio is again fresh and delicious and I always order meals that it comes with. It's really the little things like that that make this place so good. read more

The beans are mediocre at best, and the taste is just an all-round meh. Service is very rushed; there's hardly time to think before you are pestered to order again and again. This was one of my worst dining experiences ever. We stopped in for lunch based on the positive Yelp reviews. I'm not sure why this place has been rated so highly. The food is bland and mediocre for the price. It's dark, dreary and dirty inside its strip mall location. My young kids and I were seated right beside two very drunk and obnoxious guys. Between the belching and yelling, the servers kept serving them drinks. When we approached the staff about seating a family with young kids next to two drunk guys, they apologized but said there was nothing they could do about it?! Chips and Salsa were both very good. Unlike most places that have both hot and mild, they only had mild, though, but the flavor makes up for it. I had the shrimp chimichanga and it was very flavorful, though it wasn't crispy. Rice was very good, beans were mediocre. Service was friendly and fast. Haven't been to other Mexican places in Mount Pleasant to compare it to, but I would recommend it. read more
