Most disrespected I have ever been treated. I ordered a single plate to go and tipped $3, no issues. I had conversations with the staff and manager while receiving my food, everyone English just fine, nothing out of the ordinary for a regular restaurant experience. The menu online said my order came with 2 tortillas and I got home and had 0. I was not upset, I'm staying nearby, so I explained to the dude over the phone what's going on and I am 100% prepared to pay for these tortillas, I have absolutely no problem with that but as soon as I say they didn't come with the meal I'm told "NO ENGLISH" and hung up on. I call back 4 times, no answer, no I'm a little upset so I call while I make the 3 minute drive to the restaurant and when I get inside it's 1:15pm on a Wednesday and there's maybe a few people in the restaurant but the guy up front is hiding. He comes up and I am not terribly mad at this point but I say hey man, you think it's cool to hang up on me? I'm trying to pay for more tortillas. He is saying something like some excuse but I had him caught pretty bad as being straight up disrespectful so he goes to get the manager which I'm thinking is a good thing, I'm happy....I told him, your dude hung up on me, I'm trying to buy tortillas that your menu said came with the meal, so now he's focused on how this is my fault because I used an old menu a.k.a. the one that pops up on when you hit menu on Google lol but again I don't care about paying the $2 for tortillas I'm mad bc I was being polite and this ass hole hung up on me and dodged 7 of my calls. I'm assuming the manager is going to come up and deescalate this like every other restaurant manager in the world but no he's telling me that they're too busy to answer the phone and that it's my fault for using the wrong menu....now I am pissed but time and I tell them again hey I don't care about the money I just want 3 tortillas but you don't think it's messed up your dude hung up on me, and avoided my calls? Again he's getting upset with me and while I'm not super nice at this point, I'm not at all out of line but then I did mess up and boy he was waiting for me to mess up and he got me, I think I said "no dude I'm mad because I had to drive all the I'ma way back over here and order when y'all should've taken the order over the phone and it would've been ready!" Man he was ready for that cus word like he planned it he looked at me and said hey don't talk like that....do y'all know what I did? Immediately apologized, immediately changed my tone and my posture bc it was wrong of me to cuss, he didn't like that though so he said "if you're going to be that way get out we won't serve you!!" I probably said "are you serious" as I turned to walk out bc if he says I can't be there than by law I can't and that's just what it is and then as I'm leaving "you're lucky I don't call the police and have you arrested!!! I literally had 2 feet out the door with my back turned so I turned my neck half way around and said "arrested for what man I'm gone." And that is the most accurate version of the story you will receive but I legitimately felt discriminated against because I was treated like crap beginning to end. I had to delete another 500 words bc apparently it was too long.... Never had to do that before. Had the manager just said "I'm sorry man it's been a long day let me get you their tortillas it will be $1.95" I would have said "no man I understand thank you" and left another tip and came back to the restaurant 50 times while I'm in town lol.... But I got nothing except rude and I genuinely feel sorry for whoever owns this place bc the amount of business lost over someone's ego must be crazy....I was wondering why there's no one there at lunch time for the only Mexican Restaurant in town but I guess this was my answer. read more

We wanted BBQ but Chubby's was closed. So we went for Mexican food. First, the warm chips were nice but the salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce. Second, don't and I mean DON'T order the guacamole! It's like they got avocado in a bag and just squeezed it in the bowl. The lack of cilantro was staggering. None to be found. I ordered the Tapitio sampler because we'd never been there. (Just passing through). Like others have stated, everything was TOO salty! We had been on the road for 7 hours, so we ate it. Hubby had the seafood burrito and he said it was ok. This was a middle area for some of us meeting, and it was a last-minute decision. Inside, it's a normal Mexican restaurant. The salsa wasn't good. We said at the restaurant that it tasted like tomato sauce with a little seasoning added, then we saw someone else post that in the reviews. The food was pretty good, though. Our waiters were nice and continued to check on us while we were just visiting after eating. If I were in the area, I'd probably stop again. read more

After reading all the reviews, I was concerned. Being from South Central Texas, I know Mexican food (well Tex Mex) and this is not the worst or the best I've ever had. It's pretty middle of the road. I will say this, if you get the fajitas, you get more than your money's worth. Huge portion for the small price. I do agree that it needs seasoning. I just utilized the free salt and pepper and VOILA all better. The service was very good and it was SUPER busy as today is Cinco de Mayo! Beer is nice and cold. Came for lunch since we were in the area. Watermelon Margarita - Tasted strong of alcohol and a tiny hint of watermelon at times. I'm all for strong drinks, but make it taste good. My niece wanted a cheese quesadilla and nachos with just cheese. Thank God, I got the half order. They use this white cheese and my niece was not a fan. I got a steak burrito with onions and peppers with cheese over it. The steak was okay, but everything else on the plate was pretty bland. We also ordered the fried banana with ice cream for dessert, but I believe they gave us the fried cheesecake. The ice cream was good. The food is good, it is clean, the service is excellent. It can get really loud in the dining area when it is busy.

We stopped on our way through the area. Not many options near the highway but we were very happy with this spot. The cheese dip is your standard Mexican restaurant cheese dip. An order of the cheese dip is $3.50. We ordered the cheese dip that's covered with seasoned ground beef $5.00. Very good. The seasoning was just right in contrast to the cheese. One of the dishes we got is called the Molcajete. The description is a very hot lava rock bowl (mine looked like a pig) filled with steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, chopped cactus leaves, cheese, served with refried beans and tortillas. This thing was HUGE and delicious. It cost $12.50 and could easily serve two normal size hungry adults. read more

Food is good, most of the time. But it's gotten so ridiculously priced it's unreal. A large cheese dip, $10. And if apparently if you're getting the cheese dip to go, you don't get salsa included. It's another $2 and some change. Spent $14 dollars after tax on cheese dip and salsa. Next time I'll just spend the money in gas to drive to one of the three Mexican restaurants in Kennett instead. This place did not disappoint!! The food was outstanding. I'm heading back home to Michigan and this place is located right off the highway. I ordered the tacos Al Pastor. They were the best Al Pastor tacos I've ever had. My husband had the carnitas which we're also delicious. Margaritas were good too. Staff was really nice and food was out quickly. When I go to visit my BFF, there's no question of where we're going to eat lunch. For us, it's always been Los Portales. It was our first real Mexican food that wasn't Taco Bell. After 20 years (prior to this location being opened) we still never pick up the menu. We both order the Pechuga Frita, and we split cheese dip. The Pechuga Frita is a chicken breast with spices, topped with sautéed onions and white cheese dip. I've yet to find anything comparable at other Mexican restaurants, and believe me, I've tried. The dish comes with a side of rice and beans. The rice is average and the beans are slightly below average. The cheese dip is typical white cheese dip. On my most recent visit, I tried a banana burrito. That's a banana fried in a flour tortilla, rolled in sugar, with ice cream on the side, topped with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. I guess it's great if that's your thing, but mine is tres leches, which they don't serve. The service is always exceptional, the place is always clean, and it's very inexpensive. Don't let the low star reviews keep you away from this place. I've eaten phenomenal food all over the country and I come back here every time I'm in the area. read more

Not what I would consider authentic Mexican food - or a least good Mexican food. Most of the Mexican places I go to are in Chicago, which has some really good restaurants. Nonetheless, the food wasn't good at all. The service was okay. However, the interior was designed well. It looked nice. That said, I would have rather spent my money at McDonalds. The chips and salsa were not homemade. The salsa is a bit watery like the stuff you'd buy from Tostidos - but it did taste okay. The dinner was nothing to write home about and I guess that's why I'm having a hard time describing it. It was edible. That's about all I can say. The staff is very attentive and friendly. This place is busy but social distancing is enforced. The food smells amazing . Waiting for my order which I placed about fifteen minutes ago to-go. Let's start with the cons: There was no red enchilada sauce on the enchiladas yolandas. The white cheese they use wasn't even melted all the way or even hot and it was over salty. The corn tortillas they use aren't cooked all the way and looked raw. The portions weren't all that big. The salsa that is for the chips and salsa very bland almost flavorless. The pros (ending on a positive note is good).... Their chips were AMAZING ! Fresh and crisp my favorite! Definitely made in house. Their guacamole was okay. Straight avocado without all the add ins like tomato and onion (which is how it should be) Their beans and rice were excellent but the portion was missing out of one of our entree orders and the portions that were weren't enough. We were staying at the Drury Inn next door, and we called in a to-go order and walked over to get it. We had been driving all day and were tired, so it was really awesome to have the order be done so quickly and everything was correct. The food was really good and fresh and there was a very generous portion of meat with the fajitas. We had a small queso - and the small is very small, next time I'd get a medium! Recently stopped to have lunch here with a few friends. Although the building looks a little sketchy outside, it is actually pretty nice inside. The service is quick and friendly. As for the food, they have the best chips and queso. The chips are always thin and hot - a huge plus! The salsa on the other hand was quite watery and bland. I had fiesta nachos that were really good! They were seasoned well and not overpriced at all. My friend ordered the quesadilla fajita. It was very bland and soggy. The offerings here are the customary and very standard options available at most "Mexican" restaurants. The salsa tastes good but its thin and watery. The chips are cold and multi-colored and the latter gives me the willies. We ordered the chicken fajitas "for two" and they were served with a grand total of 4 tortillas. In addition to the standard toppings we were given a whole tomato SLICE (presumably to dice ourselves) and cold rice. We ordered Dos Equis Amber from the draft beer menu and were served Dos Equis Amber in bottles and given frosted mugs (only an amateur asks for a frosted mug-we did not). Service was friendly and prices seemed reasonable. I honestly see no reason to return. read more

At first glance, the restaurant didn't seem much. It was hard to tell if it was open, and the address led me elsewhere. When i first stepped inside i was greeted by friendly host and friendly atmosphere. Even though our server was difficult to communicate with, he did whatever he could to get us what we wanted.
