Enchilada had same amount of beef as the burrito. Very stuffed. Red sauce was kinda weird and tasted like hot tomatoes. Wife ordered Birria tacos. Was a 4/5. We got a side of cheese sauce too, that was a 5/5. The is the only Mexican restaurant my boyfriend and I consistently eat at in Slidell. The queso is muy bien and truly the reason for each visit. We make sure to order a large at every outing. If I could give a lower rating I would. Arrived at the restaurant and I ordered a taco salad with extra shredded chicken. When I got there they were pretty busy so I had to wait to order. I was taking it to go so I stood there and browsed through the menu while I waited. I been here numerous times and I always order the same thing. I placed my order and my food took a while, but they were busy. I received my order and the bag was double tied so I didn't check it. I've never had problems with my orders in the past so I took my meal and ran home to eat. When I opened my bag i discovered that the double chicken taco salad had no chicken at all. I immediately called the restaurant to let them know that and the phone just rang. For about ten I tried with negative results. It was late so I decided to return the next day. I went back today and it was basically the same crap. I was asked why I didn't call and i replied that I did. After being chastised for not calling I asked why didn't they get my order right. He had no answer. I do realize that sometimes things get lost in translation but I cannot figure out how extra chicken could be understood as no chicken. I was told to come back again and speak with the general manager Ruben. I guess they couldn't make it right. It's a pity that this one experience sorta ruined my overall experience. What I love the most about this place is also the reason why I will not be returning. Check your orders before you leave this place, especially if the place is busy and it's late. Ignoring the bad reviews, I tried this place at lunch. It might be a local chain, but certainly not the larger chains that somehow got the best reviews. Decide for yourself. I found the salsa to be fresh, the tortilla chips nice and crunchy, and the service quite quick and attentive. I had huevos rancheros (a lunch special); hard to decide upon when chilaquiles are on the menu. Yes, chilaquiles! To me, that says ¡autentico! Chili Con Carne was not what I grew up eating. I paid $4.00 for a bowl of soup with 3 spoonful of steak. Back home chií con carne is a bowl of meat cooked with chili's and limes. Fountain soda was flat. The two stars are for the lunch special chicken fajitas which were exceptional for $8.00. Rice and beans had no flavor. No savor. The beef enchiladas were too salty and all you could taste was salty meat. The spicy salsa he brought was just spicy. Lacked any other flavor than puréed Serrano peppers. I ask for a glass of white wine "whatever is fresh" or opened most recent. I noticed he opened a fresh bottle for me! There were like six different salads to choose from. They just cooked frozen tilapia, didn't cut it up, threw bbq sauce on, and threw a bunch of lettuce and a few pieces of diced tomatoes.... what the hell? So I guess the guacamole was decent, you really can't screw up plain lettuce. So... Instead of spending $13 for this take out Mexican, I suggest spending $6 for Taco Bell. Tasty Mexican restaurant with top notch service. Look, Mexican food is alright. To be honest, when I'm in the mood for "Mexican" food, I go to Taco Hell or cook me up some taco meat and make myself a tasty beef and cheese burrito or overloaded tacos. This place is better than that, though. Other Mexican joints that I've tried always leave me feeling as though I would rather have saved my money and gone to Taco Hell. This place satisfies my hunger and in a tasty way! They do have a few beers on tap, but Mexican beers suck no matter where you go, so... at least Dos Equis amber is the LEAST crappy "Mexican" beer you can buy. Especially since it's actually a German beer. ;) I usually get their combo meals which are always more than I can eat and when you tell them you want extra shredded cheese, they don't skimp on that, either. I've had a few other dishes here and it's always good. I've never been disappointed in this place. Seriously, other Mexican restaurants just seem to always suck. I tried this place for the first time last week. After trying Mi Patio I was thinking we might not be able to get sny really good mexican food in the Slidell area, but this place was great! I tried the shrimp quesadilla, my boyfriend had the steak quesadilla and the double decker taco, and my friend had the taco salad with chicken. The were all very delicious!
