It's the kind of joint where the atmosphere is thicker than a Sunday morning fog and the hospitality is warmer than a radiator in July. Since we're right there in the shadow of the fort, you'll find yourself rubbing elbows with all sorts of folks. They say you ought to eat where the locals eat, but in a military town, "local" is a relative term--most everybody there is from somewhere else, and they're all just passing through on Uncle Sam's dime. But at Hopper's, for an hour or two, everybody's treated like they grew up right down the street. If f you're looking for a cold beer, Hopper's has their own house brew on tap that's colder than a mother-in-law's stare. It's a sports bar in the truest sense--wall-to-wall TV screens making sure you don't miss a single down or a checkered flag. When there's a car show in town or a big game on, the place gets livelier than a porch dog with a new bone. Speaking of dogs there is a semi-permanent guest that stops by name of Norman. Pet him and you will have a friend for life. They aren't feeding birds here, friend. We're talking Burgers and fries of with tons of flavor. Sliders, cheesesteaks and wings, make sure you got extra napkins. I am not sure why but I think he also have vegetarian options. The staff is politer than a deacon on Sunday. They're attentive, friendly, and they treat travelers like they've lived in Waynesville their whole lives. Keep in mind they are pumping out a ton of adult beverages and food. A cold beer and a good burger are worth a five minute wait. Whether you're just passing through or you're a "local" who's only been in town since your last PCS, Hopper's is a solid bet for a good time and a full belly. It's family-friendly, high-energy, and highly recommended. And if you happen to be there when they break out the Bingo, hold onto your hat. They've got a unique set of calls and responses that'll frighten and amaze you the first time you hear 'em--it's somewhere between a drill sergeant's cadence and a tent revival, and it's worth the price of admission just to witness the spectacle.

The buffalo Mac and cheese and a pretzel w/ cheese sauce. Honestly the food was not the best, but the atmosphere was great and fun. If I can back here, I'd spend a Monday evening here again and try something else. I appreciated the novelty of the restaurant and fun crowd.

We had the caramel cream ale, which is in my top 5 beers of all time. Perfectly sweet and light. The peach tee kolsch was good too- a nice balance of peach. The cherry limeade wheat was right on the edge of sour. It was good that it was served in a smaller glass so we didn't do too much of it. We also did a shot of the stonebreaker cinnamon whiskey, which was a really nice collab between fringe and another local distillery. Super smooth with an oaky flavor on the background. Absolutely love the dark carnival decor, especially the pinball machines, the giant skeleton and the patio with a garage door interior. Highly highly recommend on every level. You should go!

There is a story for much of the art work which I will not do a disservice by trying put it in a review. Go there, see it and ask they'll gladly share the story. Second, INCREDIBLE beers are on tap. I tasted 10 during my visit and every single beer was worth trying. My faves were: Freshly Squeezed Blueberry Lemonade Wheat, Apple Pie Milkshake IPA and Calliope Caramel Cream Ale. Finally, the most important part of the operation is the people. Every single person that was present made me feel welcome and like I was already a part of their community. WOW, I was left feeling like I'd made new friends which I know I did. I travel to KC at least once per year and every year I will return to support this awesome brewery. Thank you for a memorable experience.

This time, at least, the service was impeccable and the hamburger was so delicious it hit the spot. I had been in the mood for a slightly charred burger and, in particular, from a non-chain restaurant in some smaller town or area. So, I suggested that we go to Warrensburg and visit that restaurant we ate at many moons ago. The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, so about 5 PM on a Wednesday, and not many people. The only aspect (and this is not the restaurant's issue) that seemed sad was that I mistook a homeless person in the bathroom for an inebriated person from their bar. I later learned that, sadly, Warrensburg receives a small population of these people from Kansas City, which buses them here. Anyhow, that is a side story. My husband ordered the Warrensburger (cute name, btw) and I ordered a Mushroom with Monterey Jack. Both burgers were charred to perfection. He ordered fries, and I ordered a baked mashed potato casserole (I get tired of fries) and unfortunately it wasn't warmed all the way, but it also had way too much black pepper, which I can't have. The waitress wasn't only accommodating and understanding, but made it a point to apologize, and shared apologies from the cook. I told her that there wasn't any need, and that she was very kind. She stepped it up and graced me with a fully loaded baked potato--no issues. Overall, the service, food, and everything here was fantastic and I don't suspect I will wait another twenty years again to visit.

I've been weekending on Pomme for 3 years and now I'm mad that I didn't get to Lucky's sooner!…read more Typical lake bar/grill - nothing spectacular about the decor and there's no ambience but the place is clean and the wait staff are super friendly, fun and very attentive! The menu is not super huge and the food is amazing. I never expected it to be of such high quality. Friday & Saturday they serve Prime Rib with 2 sides and it is spectacular! I ordered Mid-Rare and DH ordered Mid and we got exactly that, cooked perfectly! Juicy and flavorful with some locally made creamy horseradish. Simply divine. As for sides, the grilled vegetables were seasoned well, hints of rosemary and garlic, and perfectly crisp-tender. Baked potato - well, really you can't screw that up, can you? I deducted a star because the salad was bagged shredded lettuce with a handful of shredded cheddar/jack cheese mounded on it. No tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, croutons, etc. Salad dressing was obviously bottled, but at least serving it on the side is standard. You get 2 packages of Club crackers. When that come to the table, I was thoroughly ready to be greatly disappointed. Lucky for Lucky's the meat and vegetables absolutely redeemed them! I definitely will be going back for more Prime or to try some of the other menu items. I would also note that this visit was in mid-March, off-season, we got there about 5:30 pm. on Saturday it was packed with locals by the time we left at 6:30 p.m. I can't imagine what it must be like during the season, but I will definitely be back!
