Great use of lighting for contrast!

This cavern was awesome! The lighting and easily walkable pathways made for a relatively easy walk through the system, the price was excellent, and you get to go at your own pace, so long as you are in by 4:15 and out by 5. The gift shop also has a great variety of souvenirs, and there is also a bit of history with fossils and stones. Don't forget walk up the hill to see the Natural Entrance from above!

Today Tony and I drove the 2.5 hrs from Ripley to Lewisburg via the Turnpike to visit Lost World Caverns. With our AARP discount we saved a $1 each, paying only $22 plus taxes to visit the Self-Paced & Self-Guided Tour. This was amazing with several perfect examples of different formations all in one huge open room!! Recently in 2015, they found the bones of a pre-historic bear species that carbon dated back 32,000 yrs!! Absolutely amazing!! There is a Gift shop! Outside there are horses and llamas. They also offer a longer tour that goes about 3miles back into the cavern but there is a lot of crawling and tight places...not the type of tour for my old body..but extremely interesting!!!

Super impressed with this cave system. It was recommended to me by the WV Visitor's center and I went on a whim. The store was full of dinosaur displays, gems and knicknacks to buy. The cave was well lit with stairs and railings. The natural formations of the cave was awesome to see. It took me about an hour to do the store and cave combined. Understand that it is cold in there (51 degrees) and can be wet and muddy since it is a natural attraction. So wear the right shoes and a sweatshirt is handy.

When you arrive haha you can definitely tell they have live animals around the property; horses, lamas and a loose donkey haha Don't panic or he'll Buck. Quickly get inside! I am LIVING for the shop! SO many crystals ahhh and of all shapes and sizes. Ok now when you get into the cave it's a steep decline so that means, if you are like me it's our worst enemy... stairs. Also a very high incline For personal issues, I almost died haha but like I said personal issues. Um very beautiful cave though but a little more signs of cation would be nice like oh I don't know maybe "watch your head" uh "small space ahead" also a warning about the small/ slippery steps. Other than that, I'm glad I came and glad I pushed myself to walk through the whole thing even though I coulda killed myself haha Again not y'all's fault of course

For $12 and a self-guided experience, It's definitely worth if if you're looking for a convenient little stop and haven't been to a cavern in a while. Be aware that it's along what seems to be the cave corridor, so from our drive north from New River Gorge, it was the first in many other - maybe half a dozen? - caverns off the same road, including Endless Caverns and Skyline Caverns and Shenandoah Caverns.

This place was really cool! My kid loved it. I can't say enough good things about it. There wasn't anything that we didn't like. It's educational, historical, and just so interesting. We went at our own pace and not a guided tour. However, the signs are easy to read and there's tons of photo opportunities. My son loved hearing his echo. The gift shop was a neat little set-up too!

We were looking for a cool cavern to visit and this place hit the spot. Tour took an hour - it's very picture friendly - and it was a little slippery but otherwise safe to walk around. We had a great time slowly making our way across this hidden gem of a cave. Gift shop was cool too and we bought a bunch of stuff. I would say this is a 6 and up adventure - was perfect for our 8 year old. We got there right when it opened and basically had the cave to ourselves for an hour - how cool. For the money this place is worth it. $33 for 2 adults and a kid. Self guided so you can take your time and soak it all in. Really enjoyed this.

This was such a cool stop! We brought the kids and everyone loved it! We liked that the tour was self guided, so that we could go at our own pace. The gift shop was such a treat for my dinosaur loving little guy - he did not expect to see a mini dinosaur museum inside! The gift shop also had a great variety of trinkets and souvenirs to choose from- it was exactly what our kids were hoping for. We will surely stop again if we are in the area!

Fun adventure for families, couples, or solo. Purchase tickets at on site gift shop or in advance online. Kids under 6 free. Enter caves, pan for gems, see animals. Llamas, horses, goats. Spend 1-2 hours, picnic tables available in a beautiful setting. Easy to find!

We had the best time touring the Caverns. This self guided tour is easy and you will feel secure with the railings and stairs. There were no slick spots and I was able to enjoy all the formations. There was also great information along the trail and easy to read.

This is a great value for a fun afternoon adventure. The staff is super friendly and the cavern is really cool. Our family really enjoyed it.

Huge and gorgeous caverns! Definitely a must see! They also have a nice crystal/gift shop with a whole kids section too with kids gifts and fun little exhibits for them to look at! Loved it!! Highly recommend!

Great photo cave! Very pretty. Well lit. We took so many photos of this cave. Took our time on self-guided tour; took 1 hour to complete.

Loved it! Self guided. Not to touristy and very affordable. I've seen plenty of caverns but this did not disappoint.

Ask the Community - Lost World Caverns

Is Lost World Caverns wheelchair accessable?

Unfortunately, no it is not wheelchair friendly. There are 55 stairs going down to the cave, and another 200 steps throughout the cave. Sorry, we would love to make it accessible to everyone, but haven't figured out how to do it!

I definitely recommend the Wild Cave Tour to anyone up for squeezing into tight spaces, bouldering, & getting muddy.
