If you ever get a chance to work with Julie of Lot116, jump on it. Having heard of Julie through a good friend, I was happy to see she was trying to come up to the Bay area to do a couple sessions. Unfortunately, plans changed, and she was unable to come up. My family and I planned an impromptu short trip to Carlsbad for Legoland, and I checked if she had any availability. Lucky for us, she did, and we jumped right on it. Julie is awesome to work with. Not only does she have a great talent with capturing priceless moments, but she is so helpful throughout the whole process. Another 5 star vote for Julie of Lot 116! We had the pleasure of working with her during our family vacation down to SD and it was one of the best decisions we made. She met us at one of the local parks in the Carlsbad area and did such a wonderful job within a short period of time (approx. 1 hr). She was a natural with the kids and was *very* patient when the little ones don't want to cooperate. She has many tricks in her hat and can catch those precious little smiles when they are hard to come by. While taking photos in the park, she was doing such a wonderful job making us smile that a stranger (another mom) came up to her and asked for her card cuz she wanted to do one for her family too! For the post-shot process, Julie is also very fast and efficient. We were able to see the online album only a few days after. Julie is an amazing artist! She spent a little over an hour taking graduation photos of my son. I am so pleased with the experience and how she made my handsome son look like a model :) As the session progressed I wondered how her choice of locations around Oceanside pier would work and I was truly impressed with how she is able to capture color and light correctly. I had booked Julie to take my daughter's 5 year old pictures with our family and we are so glad we did. We have gone through the route of taking pictures through studio places like Picture People, Target, JCPenny, but the pictures that Julie takes come out much more meaningful/magical to us, kind of like the pictures are really telling a story and capturing that moment in time. We really enjoyed having our pics taken by Julie since she is so easy to hang out with and also made us feel comfortable in front of the camera, we don't live in San Diego, but she was able to drive out to LA to take our pictures, even if it is a small travel fee (gas is expensive these days). We had selected a location where we hold special memories of our time together. So it captured more than just our family pictures. My sister used Julie to photograph my niece for her first time. I got to tell you, she made my niece look like a Gap kids model! Julie has a good artistic eye. When I checked her website "blog" spot, I saw her other clients and boy, she is definitely artistic and unique. Who would of thought little babies would look good in a bowl! Julie can take a photograph and turn it in to art. She took us to a common tourist spot for my family picture and you wouldn't even recognize where it is. She is good with family but she is definitely great with kids! Her fees are kind of expensive but well worth it when you see the outcome! I was afraid that there were not going to be any good pictures but was so surprised when I got my sneak peek from Julie. She captured some great shots - even a couple which showed her not so happy expressions which turned out to be cute as well. Too bad we can't give 10 stars because that is the rating Julie really deserves. I chose Julie based on her creative eye and unique approach to photography. I was beyond impressed with the final product of our photos. They turned out amazing and beyond my expectations. The wonderful thing about working with Julie is that she is both an amazing mother and and pet lover so she knows how to get the best out of children and pets during her photo sessions. We have a very active 3 year old little boy and the shots she captured of him are simply priceless. She captured so many great moments and shots of our family in such a short amount of time which also was great for my 3 year old as sitting through hours of posing for pictures was not going to work for him. Julie knew this right away and just captured his natural personality so well. After 10 years of marriage and 4 children later, we realized we had yet to EVER take a professional family photo! It didn't take much thought when the time came to choose a photographer, as I had heard only RAVE reviews of Lot116 Photography through the years. You'd think that she would have high-tailed it out of there when she saw my family of 6 pull up to the site (at the time, our children were ages 7, 5, 2 and 5 months old), but in true Lot116 form, she was warm and welcoming. The location ended up being a perfect fit for what I wanted, and she was easygoing and fun to work with.
