I'll start off by saying I definitely recommend renting here! The manager, Lorie, is so professional and helpful (and friendly which is a huge plus)! She explains everything you need to know and answers all of your questions. If you have a service request, she immediately writes it out and it is usually done within the week (sometimes even the same day!) When renting, it is a big deal to me how a manager cares for and handles their complex's needs. Lorie is definitely on top of it! The neighbors are quiet and respectful. The complex is always clean! They do landscaping every week. Plaza Del Real offers a laundry facility for its residents as well as a pool. What I loved most about it is that it is that I felt safe here. There are shopping centers and restaurants nearby (some of which are open 24 hours) which made it super convenient. The apartment itself was so cozy! Downstairs you have a living room and kitchen area. Upstairs you have your bathroom and bedroom area. A big bonus for me were the spacious, walk-in closets (one upstairs and one downstairs, too!) For being a loft, the kitchen area is pretty spacious. You also get a patio area which is great if you like to bbq or grill. I personally used mine to let my daughter play outside while I cooked since I could keep an eye on her through the sliding door. I move out later this month and it is a bittersweet feeling. I'm excited for my new home, but I'm sad to leave my loft. It is definitely worth checking out if you are looking for a new place. If you want a safe and clean complex and a great experience, I suggest you come to Plaza Del Real!

We are located about 3 miles away from Costco, WinCo,the mall, and Walmart so you don't really need to drive far for whatever you may need, as well as about 3 miles from the college, so great for people going to CSUB. We've never once felt unsafe, and we came here from Lancaster where you would lock your pets up if someone came down the road. Overall it's a great place to live!

Work orders have been lagging behind for weeks, often times with management forgetting about the appointment. When I moved out a huge chunk of my deposit was taken out to repair things that were there prior to moving in and written in lease agreement. The apartments are old and there were lots of spots on the carpets, dings, and the carpet was old and falling apart, all things that were not fixed prior to my tenancy, and I got charged for those after I moved out. There were even dead larvae/alive bugs in the multiple layers of kitchen flooring they had under the stove, I was not the only apartment battling this. Enjoy throwing away food. I would not recommend this place again. If you do move in, take pictures of everything, they do not pay attention to lease agreement.

At one point my father needed to stay with me as he was very sick in a down cycle with kidney cancer. I was out of town for work and far from home, but he was freezing in the apartment with the heat turned all the way up. After hours the staff brought him a pair of space heaters to make sure he was comfortable and it was appreciated more than I could ever express. Park Square was a great three years and a highlight of my time in Bakersfield. Im not usually one to review places, but I feel obligated for how well I was treated and how wonderful the apartment experience was. Couldn't recommend it enough and can only imagine 2-3 other places in all of Bakersfield even coming close to matching the experience - and most important the cleanliness. Yes, you have neighbors and sometimes have to deal with the noise that comes with sharing walls, same as any other apartment complex, but when it comes to the complex as a whole, the office staff was always helpful, respectful and responded to requests in a timely manner and with a good attitude. The service technician, Harvey, is just awesome. Really good at what he does, and is one of those guys you just want to chat with because he's nice. The only reason we are moving out is because we finally found a house to buy. After 2.5 years of living at Watermark, I can easily say I'd highly recommend. It's clean, it's safe, it's quiet (outside of the things you deal with at any apartment complex that ever existed), and the people are good. Thank you Watermark staff for giving my wife and I a nice place to live until we found our forever home.

The property managers Crystal and Jaylyn are THE BEST! They are always so friendly, welcoming, professional, and attentive. As soon as I walked through the office doors I was greeted by a snarky mouth apartment manager who drilled me regarding rental history and income. Like I mentioned I am a business professional and informed her that my income was more than sufficient along with good rental history prior to being a homeowner. The manager went on to say again "if one of these requirements are not met you'll need to get approval from our corporate office". I've never been drilled so hard just to inquire about a rental. Maybe it was the Raider shirt and hat I was wearing or maybe it was my brown skin. whatever it was I wished the lovely lady i met outside a great day and walked out. Funny thing is the snarky mouth apartment manager looked at me crazy after I told her she was being rude. Good luck to any residents or anyone having to deal with that nasty attitude. if I seen her stranded on the side of the road on a dark highway I wouldn't waste my time to trying to help, people like her would probably think I'm trying to harass her instead of help.

I LOVED Maria and her willingness to work with my family from the day we signed lease papers, to the day we handed her our keys. I LOVED how quick maintenance was to respond to our needs as well as meet them. I LOVED the amenities & overall the looks of the grounds. This place is well kept. Some things that really made us sad as we wanted to love being here in general. Rent was obnoxiously expensive. 2 bed, 2 bath on the upstairs floor was $2,000+. It is also an extremely low chance of getting any your deposit back. This complex uses 3rd party cleaners, painters, and carpet stores/installers when you move out. Those 3rd party business GOUGE the prices of their services and by the time it is all said and done, you get nothing back. The apartment was SPOTLESS when we left, yet we were still charged a $300+ cleaning fee. Another issue we would run into was the pool. The rules state "pool closes at 10pm, no alcohol, etc" yet people would be at the pool partying (most of the time with alcohol involved) until 12am or later. Those out there that late were never quiet, they were very loud. Us that work early the next day did not appreciate that & I wish there was more discipline instead of just an email with 'reminders' of the rules. Again, I did enjoy this place but definitely note all details before making your decision.
