We had the absolute best experience with Justin from Lotus Photography! Not only is he incredibly talented, but he is also so much fun to work with. He has the perfect personality for wedding photography--he knows exactly when to give you a little sass, make you laugh, and get those genuine, natural reactions that make the photos feel so authentic. Our sneak peeks the next day were absolutely incredible, and I can honestly say they were all some of my favorite photos from the entire wedding. I cannot wait to see the rest! I'm kind of shocked at the reviews here on Yelp because we absolutely LOVED Lotus and their Weddingwire and The Knot reviews are glowing!! Definitely check on other review sites first and consider them. We had an absolutely incredible experience with everyone at Lotus Wedding Photography! Justin, Amanda and our photographer Zelin are all wonderful people with such a talent for capturing amazing photos. Every email I sent (there was a lot!) was responded to promptly and professionally with all questions answered. Throughout our entire engagement shoot, we felt comfortable and at ease. Zelin was open to suggestions for poses and he kept us laughing the entire time. It felt natural which we really loved. We were so thrilled with our engagement shoot that we also booked our family Christmas pictures with Lotus as well. If we were getting married in New York we would totally be using them... We got our wedding photos today and to say I'm upset doesn't even fully describe how I'm feeling at the moment. I don't know if we were just unlucky to be given an amateur photographer by lotus but the quality of the photos we got certainly didn't meet any of my expectations. Not close to any of the reviews I've been reading about them. Lotus posting one good pic from our wedding doesn't really fully depict our full experience. If I wanted just one good pic for our wedding then I should have just hired them for an hour and not for the full day. I don't even know where to begin.. bad lighting, bad framing, no sense of creativity, bad background choices, no attention to any detail.. like nothing at all. They didn't bother fixing the poses before they taking the photos, not even the effort to fix certain details like my veil, the hanger hanging on top that you can see in the photos or the table that's in the way of my maid of honor. Like seriously, it doesn't take much to do all these things. The one and only pic that they took where you can fully see the details of my gorgeous veil was absolute My veil wasn't flipped on the right side, my face isn't fully focused and the lighting was just awful. They use their stupid light in most pics which i don't get, and it made some pics look like it's nightime when we shoot it in the afternoon and there's a shadow casted on my dress in most of my walking down the aisle pics. I hate my walking down the aisle pics, bouquet toss pics, our "you may kiss the bride" pics and i don't like any of our actual wedding ceremony pics. A lot of our pics were either dark or yellowish. They also miss some of the detailed shot like the centerpieces of our table numbers that my mom made. The photos that my venue's photographer took are even better than what they did. My venue told me that there were a lot of times when our photographer was nowhere to be found that's why she asked their photographer to take photos. There were times when I asked them to take certain photos like me being in the bridal suite and the photographer said, no. Only pic he took at the bridal suite was crap and was nothing like what i wanted him to take. There were several times during the reception when they could have taken nice candid shots but they were either just sitting and hanging around or nowhere to be found. Not to mention them leaving earlier than they should. They also forgot to upload the 40 "artistically" edited photos that was supposed to be included in our package. They only noticed it's not there when I called. Still don't have them btw coz they won't be able to until next monday. Our wedding was beautiful and a once in a lifetime day both for me and my husband and the photos were supposed to give us a memoir of that unforgettable moment. But thanks to lotus, i will be forever upset looking at this crappy photos they took on our wedding day. There's no fixing it. You can't undo it unless you go back in time to retake those shots. So yes, i am beyond upset and would not recommend this company to anybody. If you want to take the risk of ruining your once in a lifetime event and you're still convinced you want to hire this company, at least don't get James as your photographer. read more

We booked our wedding with Justin thinking he was a photo journalist photographer. We had a Phantom of the Opera theme,I asked him to capture. He showed up to my home on the morning of the wedding, we were running late.He appeared annoyed. I asked for a photo with the Phantom mask in the background. HE took the photo,but we never received it.My dad arrived from the Hamptons-elderly, and was having difficulty getting out of the car.Justin said tell him to hurry up.I asked him to be patient as I was paying for him..and it was my dad. (My dads brother passed away 2 days b4 so he wasnt doing well).Justin took one obligatory photo and left. My niece who is a photographer took beautiful photos of my dad and me (he passed away 2 months later)At the church, Justin took photos of a guest getting my husband dressed..lol I was shocked, as my mother in law was at the church.He never bothered to get photos of mom and son ..a fam friend was the one in the church photos putting the tie on etc..Went over well with Italian inlaws..not. I didn't know this happened til I received photos and wedding video. At reception, I asked for chandelier photos. EMPHASIS.Phantom of the opera theme wedding at Leonard's Palazzo..We arrived and couldn't find photographer..his wife found me and said he was upstairs. Instead of texting me and saying..change of photo location, he just set up by a Christmas tree and had his wife try to round up the wedding party. Imagine trying to tell all family photographer wasnt where he was supposed to be. His comment.."if your party limo bus didnt stop to get refreshments for 5 min..u would have known where I was.. my answer..a simple text would have sufficed and again..on the contract I asked for chandelier family photos. Phantom of opera theme emphasized.. group photos,he told my bridesmaids to grab each inappropriately..NOT kidding..I guess he thought that would be funny..Lastly all photos by tree has mirror in background..when photos came back, every photo has white ORB like appearance..I had someone tell me it was the ghost of her passed daughter Thank God my niece said, that's not an ORB .your photographer used a wescott screen for lighting and that is the reflection in the mirror..seriously?? So after calling..I was told he would edit some pics..lol. I have a complete Album of ORBS minus the 10 he edited to remove.. we have barely any romantic photos..I did have to beg him to do a group masquerade shot by the chandelier and he took 2 of me and my husband . He took a few couch photos and when my daughter (maid of honor)came out and jumped on my lap..he instead of being fun or creative..yelled at her to get out of the photo Seriously, it was my daughter.. in retrospect, yes he took some beautiful photos..the church veil photos are so dark, the lack of phantom theme photos when that's all I wanted and even the missing mirror photo that I saw him take but never give to us and the rudeness towards my dad, and lack of mother son photo in the church is horrible as well as the wescott orb in most of my bridal party photos is rediculous.. Thank goodness my niece and my DJ captured the day..he should have given us a full refund.. highly impatient, lack of empathy. Wasnt there he promised to be and then blamed us.. maybe one or 2 romantic photos... that's all! read more

Lotus Amanda and Justin made this a great experience from the beginning. They were always so responsive, and they were very understanding when we had to move our wedding due to Covid. We were even able to keep our original photographer James, who we selected by looking at his portfolio. On the day of, our photographers James and Dave were absolutely incredible. James kept me and my husband laughing the entire time, which was great since it was freezing outside when we were taking our portraits. Dave was working the crowd on the dance floor and paying special attention to the moms, which was great. We decided to take group photos of our large families during the reception, and I was very worried this would take a very long time and that they would miss a lot of the fun. But James and Dave worked as a team to ensure this went quickly and smoothly. Dave gathered everyone into the room, James directed the positioning and took the photos, and they both worked with my venue and coordinator to bring the family groupings in and out quickly. I had thought this would take half an hour, and we were completely done in 10 minutes. One of the main reasons I chose Lotus was this photo I saw that they had taken at the Vineyards at Aquebogue, my venue. It's a bride and groom kissing at night, in front of the entrance, with the most beautiful backlighting. We replicated it towards the end of the evening, and James showed me and my husband a sneak peak of it on his camera. Both of us were in tears at how beautiful it was. And that's just one out of the hundreds of photos that were taken at our wedding. I am beyond thrilled that we were able to work with Lotus Photography - a company that goes out of their way to make you feel special. read more

We had 2 photographers, an assistant photographer, and a videographer all day and night. They were punctual, professional, and willing to work with our family to provide a spectacular photos and memories for all of us! When planning my wedding I knew what I wanted in a photographer. With my husbands parents doing photography once in a while I knew what to look for. When booking I dealt mostly with Amanda and she was accommodating and answered all of my questions and requests even if they were small and silly. Our photographer was Albert and he was so much fun to work with and was patient with our son who at the time was 9 months old. He took all of our requested photos and more! When my mother in law told him and his lighting assistant to grab lunch they both looks shocked like nobody else offers them food. At our ceremony he was in the background and not standing in front of anybody so everybody got the best view and didn't miss a single detail. We requested family photos with cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents and they were so patient with rounding up my husbands mom's side of the family. Before they left for the night they came up to us congratulated us and thanked us for how smooth and fun the day was. My pictures are absolutely beautiful and everything I could as for. They show me and my husbands personalities but also my sons personality. read more

The photographers we had at our event were good, but the owners are nasty! They are not very nice people at all & they even screwed up our Thank You cards! It took forever to get them & then the cards had the wrong date on them! Not a pleasant experience at all, very disappointed. read more

First look of Lotus' sample wedding photos from wedding wire we booked an appointment right away. We met Amanda and by just telling us what our special day would be like and by just showing us their sample photos and videos we immediately booked and saved our date. Justin and Amanda treated us a family since the beginning... I would email them late at night (bridezilla moment) and they would instantly answer my question back. After the wedding, they told us the photos will be ready in 6-8 weeks and videos in 3 months. Unfortunately a month after our wedding we had a loss in the family. I emailed Justin and asked that maybe he can send me some pictures of my aunt from the wedding.. In an instant he sent all the beautiful pictures and not just that he rushed the editor so he can finalize my wedding teaser video. What they did to me and Cj and to our families are just incredible and words cannot explain and describe how thankful we are. Lotus isnt just a vendor that you can hire and pay.. We just had our wedding August 17, 2018 and we used Lotus Photography for our wedding. I had been following them on social media for quite some time and was beyond obsessed with their creative ways of capturing a moment and how beautiful and crisp every shot came out. We love how reasonable their pricing was for their expertise and how nice, professional, and down to Earth they were. We are a pretty fun, sarcastic couple ourselves and at first we were leaning towards their photographers that had more comedy in their presence. We were told that all photographers in Lotus are trained by them directly, so that they capture the photos as beautifully as their reputation reflects. All photographers but one- James. We were told he was the only photographer who came in, with multiple weddings under his belt, and did not need any training. Impressed, we inquired further and upon hearing that he was more of a quiet photographer due to his mind running on overload, calculating the perfect lighting, movement, and shot 10 steps ahead of the one he was capturing, we kind of took a step back, BUT when we saw his portfolio...we knew we HAD to have him as our guy!! James showed up at the hotel where I was getting ready, with his assistant, Angelo. They immediately made my awkward moments of smiling at my inanimate gown A LOT less awkward, and photos with my 2 small girls effortless. He even let my oldest daughter, 6, Kailyn to dictate some shots, which she loved! At our first reveal, Angelo walked with me and both of them guided us through the staged photos, in the heat, standing in the marsh, tall grass, and almost on a rock in the middle of a pond (until a big snake slithered out!). They helped get the small gnats out of the tulle train, and moved my hair where it needed to be for each shot. They cracked jokes the entire time and were a complete delight to work with. At the reception, EVERY TIME someone was taking a photo, there was James taking one too. Absolutely recommend!!! read more
