The library has undergone recent renovations, however still showing it's 60's architectural design. DVD's are available for (free?) rental, most recent titles as well as silent films.. I have only exercised the system once where i had a friendly libertarian order me a book from another. Remember to return you books on time, as I'm pretty sure they'll even take it on a CC now.. ;)

They also recently made upgrades to the interior, including a new and improved young adult section, and also added multiple new computers and seats. It's usually very quiet here, minus an hour or two after Brookside Middle School and Hillside Elementary School students are dismissed at the end of the school day, since lots of children come to the library with their parents, or stop by to do homework. The staff is also very friendly, minus one kind of scary employee. Forget Redbox, just order DVDs through the BCCLS site and put your tax dollars to work.

To this day, the library continues to offer a lot to the community: -books -e-Services -CDs -DVDs -magazines -printing/copying/fax services -desktop computers -reliable wifi -laptop outlets -children's section They also have children's programs and adult programs (book clubs, chair yoga, ESL classes, arts & crafts). So many resources here! I go here to pick up books for my monthly reading. If they don't have what you're looking for, the front desk will help you find another library through the BCCLS catalog or they will notify you when the book is available. It's extremely clean and organized. SPOTLESS, actually. The library is definitely one of my happy places.

A large selection of books around each nook and cranny, and a cafe too…read more This multi level library is a bit dated looking, but beneath that, it's a big space with dedicated areas for children, fiction, nonfiction, etc. They have quite a few new book recommendations on display which is helpful for browsing. There's a lot of seating throughout and you should be able to find a quiet spot. They have the newer self checkout kiosks now so you don't have to chit chat if that's not your thing. The librarians do seem friendly though. The cafe isn't open past 6 on any day but it seems to have sandwiches, soups and baked goods; there are a few tables to sit as well. Parking lot is large and shared with the municipal building. An easy walk into town for food and shopping.

Yay, for the children's programs at Orangeburg Library. We have been attending many of the…read morechildren's programs at Orangeburg Library for the last few years and are very happy. The librarians are always kind and helpful. They offer different programs on Tuesdays for children, including Zumbini, Music Together, concerts, story hour and music/stories. It's wonderful. We are looking forward to going through all the programs with our second child.

I might be wrong, but I get the vibe that if you are not of a certain skin complexion or from the same area, then expect to be treated differently. This is mostly a predominantly white area and they like to stick to their own cliques and people and will let you know that you don't belong there. At least that's the vibe I get every time I visit. Of course it's subtle prejudice and you can't really call them out on it because there is no evidence. No evidence, no crime. But you will feel like a second class citizen if you visit this library. If you think there is nothing wrong and are used to the way you are treated here, I recommend you to visit other libraries in the area and see how much better of an experience you have when you visit there. Don't take my word for it. Experience it yourself! At the end of the day , its still a public library and we can't expect all libraries to be equally good, but it's just sad knowing that our tax dollars are going towards hiring people who aren't even competant enough to do their jobs nor aren't interested in providing a service without injecting their subtle prejudices into it. Respect your patrons and stop talking down to them.

We went…read morethere to see David Hamburger, an American fingerstyle guitarist and songwriter based in Austin, TX . His acoustic blues set was part of the library's Sunday Session Concerts series. We were pleasantly surprised to see a large audience gather that day at a library. Also, the room where the performance took place was really nice and the sound was good there - impressive for a library. I looked at their website a few days prior to the performance and saw that there's a lot of great programming at PPL. Paramus has a really nice public library - what a great resource for the community!
