Booking Intrinsic Groove for our wedding was the best decision we made. Nearly three weeks later, guests are still texting me about how incredible the band was. So many people commented on how well they entertained every age group. Their sound was fantastic, and they brought an amazing, fun energy. Choosing wedding entertainment is a big decision, and if you want a great time, I highly recommend Intrinsic Groove. I'm also incredibly grateful to the management. Like many brides, I had plenty of questions and requests, which meant a lot of back-and-forth over email and phone. Louis and Theresa were always responsive, kind, and patient throughout. They made the entire experience smooth and professional from start to finish. I could go on forever about their raw talent. We hired this company for our wedding based on their advertised flexibility with music choices. Their song list and initial emails claimed, 'If there is music that you'd like, but isn't on the list, let us know!' We expected to pay a fee for them to learn some of our songs but the pricing was unclear on the contract. However, our experience was disappointing. After booking a duet and submitting our song list a few weeks later, we were informed that three of our favorite songs couldn't be performed at all, and six others required an additional fee. They suggested upgrading to a trio (with an additional fee) to accommodate these songs, citing the availability of sheet music only for piano and not for violin. Feeling upset, I contacted several other violin companies in the area, all of which confirmed they could perform the songs we wanted using piano sheet music. These songs were also widely performed by other violinists at weddings, as seen on social media. Every song we selected we found on tik tok or YouTube performed by a violin. Ultimately, we chose to forfeit our deposit and go with a different company that offered more flexibility. Other companies we contacted charged $25-50 to learn new songs and provided guidance on the music's role in the ceremony. Unlike Louis Pettinelli, they assured us they wouldn't charge for songs they might reuse in the future. We value the hard work of musicians and understand charging a fee for learning new songs. However this fee should be clear on the contract, the client should not be charged for songs that may be reused, and a talented musician should be able to use sheet music from piano and make it their own. We were told they could not play at all "Aint no Mountain High Enough" and quickly found free sheet music online for this song. Many of the other songs they charged large fees for were located free online with a quick Google search. If you consider this company, I recommend finalizing your song list before booking and ensuring they are truly willing to accommodate your music preferences without hefty additional fees. Louis's defensive responses to negative reviews, blaming the client instead of taking constructive criticism, also raised concerns for us. read more

We worked with LPE for our Ceremony, Cocktail Hour, Reception band, and even the DJ for our afterparty. Their musicians were all so great to work with and they did literally everything, from learning our custom songs, MCing the event, DJing and excellent afterparty set, and even ripping the greatest guitar solos I've ever heard at a wedding. Our guests were all very impressed with their performances and they made planning the event so easy. read more

I hired the Louis Pettinelli Entertainment Jazz band trio (bass, piano, and saxophone) in Chicago to perform at a birthday party. All band members arrived prior to performance time as agreed to setup. They were all very nice and performed very well. They also adhered to my request of playing some music by Art Blakely, Charley Parker, and Stan Getz. Folks there just is no substitute for live music performances. Yes, I could have saved money by playing recorded music, but it's just not the same experience for myself or my guests. As I expected, all of my guests raved about the performance afterwards. Would I hire them again? Yes, without any sort of hesitation because everyone in attendance enjoyed the live musical performance greatly. read more

I wanted a 2 hour violinist for my daughter's bridal shower. I reached out because I thought $600 was reasonable for the quality. Mr Pettinelli reached out stating I shouldn't do a solo and tried to upsell me to a duo for $1000. I explained I rather a solo as its background music for the shower. I then asked for 15 more minutes and he stated $700. I said not to be a stickler but wouldn't it be $675? He replied that if I want low budget, go to the local college. Low budget? Very rude and entitled. This rep definitely has no business sense. I'm sure the musicians are quality but with this negotiator - they will not make new connections and I will definitely share this experience on all platforms. Not a very nice person at all. I did not insult anyone. I simply asked for the price that was listed on their site. If you call this place for your event be prepared to be insulted. read more

We booked Intrinsic Groove through Louis Pettinelli Entertainment for our wedding, and could not be more thrilled with the whole experience. The folks at LPE were so easy to work with, and accommodated all our crazy requests right up until our wedding date (a groovy rendition of Andrew W.K.'s Party Hard to open up the dance floor?!? ). The band brought the energy, rocked the event barn's rafters, and had literally everyone on the dance floor. They brought our vision to life perfectly, and we cannot recommend them enough. We only hope that our guests' made the night as memorable for the band, as it was for all of us. read more

I was so excited about having live music for my ceremony... Not cheap, and I already had an amazing Dj... But I thought that it would be worth the extra. I saw some videos and I loved the celo artist. Well, I moved forward and requested a duo celo-keyboard. We received the invoice, paid half in advance... and when organizing paperwork, I realized that they set violin-keyboard. I immediately told them and the answer was basically that they had to pay the violinist for canceling! So, apparently was on us despite insisting in every single message that we wanted celo-keyboard. We had to pay 500 for the duo, and 150 to the violinist! I basically felt robbed and laughed at. Think that of the 1h paid, they were performing for maximum 30 minutes... If we would have had more time, we would have cancelled the entire thing. The celist was not the person I was expecting and I requested, though she played fine. What I didn't like is seeing specially the keyboard guy with the phone, texting. I can understand that he was not very interested, but they were first line and looks very bad. I'm sure that everybody can survive 1hour, what we paid for, without checking the phone. I really only cared about one song of the repertoire that I requested days in advanced and they played, and I recognize we failed to communicate on time about the specific songs (my husband picked up the songs the day before, from the list they provided us). They chose what to play and they did, they sounded fine, I mean... fine. Just that the selection was not outstanding, though that was on us for not telling with several days in advance, I guess. My advice? Tie everything with them pretty damn well, and review the contract with a comb. Other detail is that they don't care if they are in a wedding or other place. The etiquette doesn't seem to go with them. Speaks poorly. And yes, I can provide pics of the attitude and the very casual attire. read more

We hired The Suyat Band for our wedding and couldn't be happier! Louis was awesome to work with from the beginning. I loved that we took care of contracts and details via email and I was able to pay him through PayPal which was great. I was pretty specific about the particulars of my wedding, from song choices throughout to other details like adding a special Polish Blessing at the beginning of the reception. Everything was communicated to the band perfectly and carried out excellently! We were so so happy with our choice, and so were all of our guests! Would not recommend to anyone! Please read the full details below! Louis is an unprofessional, disrespectful and self-serving business owner. We were planning on using Louis Pettinelli for our special event but unfortunately had to reschedule due to Covid-19. Not only was Louis incredibly challenging to work with, but he was unprofessional in his behaviour and communication with us! He was willing to chat with me and answer my questions when he thought I was a new customer, but when he found out I was trying to reschedule or get a partial refund due to Covid-19, he immediately said he was unavailable and would not be returning our calls and would only be available by text. This is in the context of us having paid the full amount and requesting a partial refund (non refundable deposit). He went as far as to tell me that he doesn't text clients after hours on his personal phone and that he would no longer be communicating with me (despite him having returned my call to his business number with a text from his own personal number- on a Friday evening!!). I had requested to talk the following morning on multiple occasions, but he continued to text me from his personal number that evening. His entire demeanour and attitude changed and his messaging became condescending. He was very dismissive and told us we signed a contract and that he would not be refunding us the deposit. When I confronted him about the contract we had signed not including this particular situation (there was a clause for Covid-19 that did not include short term cancellations) he instructed me to "have a goodnight". When I again asked for refund back (we had paid double the deposit) he said "Thank you for asking, but the deposit is non-refundable as stated in our contract". I clearly reminded him that we were entitled to the remainder of the amount that was owed (awful that I had to remind him of what his contract stated was a deposit and that we had paid double the amount!). When I again told him that his contract did not clarify this particular situation his response was to email him as he "prefers not to discuss business matters via text". How interesting that he say this given that he was the one who texted me FIRST (I had called the business number and received a text from him). When I told him that I was unhappy with this service and communication and would be leaving a review he responded with the following: "You are certainly welcome to leave a review. However, I will absolutely be sure to post an account of events that is as accurate as possible, and that includes the aforementioned verbiage about you having signed a contract with explicitly defined terms"...... So I am posting this review so that other clients may see an accurate account of exactly the customer service you are paying for and how petty and deceitful this individual is (including him trying to ?scare me out of leaving a review). His contract does not have explicit defined terms, beware! When I asked him to indicate to me where in the clause our situation would apply, he immediately said he would no longer be discussing this. Louis is overall condescending, rude and very petty. He may be invested in music, but he is not invested in client experience or communication whatsoever. If it was non refundable due to a clear contract that was explained to me in a polite and well communicated manner, that would have been very appropriate (and I would totally understand given the circumstances). However, for the owner of a business to tell me that our deposit is non refundable without a contract clearly stating the circumstance, and then to be so rude and condescending to a client is not ok. Particularly for a business owner who prides himself on "customer service". He has refused to comment any further on his contract, despite me explaining that we did not fall into the criteria. I am not writing this review because we did not get a refund, I am writing this review because of how horrible it was to deal with Louis. More than anything else, his attitude towards us has been so incredibly condescending and rude. We have worked with and communicated with many vendors over the last year, but Louis has left a particularly bad taste in our mouths and we will not be recommending him to anyone. read more
