The event took place in a ballroom at the Kellogg Conference Hotel, with a stage set up at the front and several round 8-top tables arranged throughout the room. It felt more like a small theatrical performance with table seating than an intimate, hidden speakeasy-style venue. One thing to flag: the event FAQ mentioned that some venues may have a pre-show bar but no food. That wasn't the case here--the hotel actually had food available for purchase before the show. So if that matters to you, it's worth checking directly with the venue rather than relying solely on the event website. The performers truly carry the entire experience. They handle everything--checking tickets, seating guests, serving cocktails, and performing--which is impressive but also leads to some occasional disorganization. When we arrived, there wasn't great communication between the ticket checker and the usher, so some guests seated themselves and had to be moved later. It didn't ruin anything, but smoother coordination would make the start of the evening feel more polished. As for the cocktails: you get four, one paired with each story. Unfortunately, this was probably the most underwhelming part. The drinks weren't very strong--you could barely taste the alcohol--and despite the website showing nice glassware, they were actually served in plastic cups. It didn't quite live up to the "cocktail experience" expectation. That said, the performance itself was fantastic. The cast was engaging, energetic, and clearly passionate about Poe's work. They performed The Pit and the Pendulum, The Cask of Amontillado, Annabel Lee, and The Fall of the House of Usher, and each was brought to life in a compelling way. There were even a few ad-libbed moments that added humor and kept the show feeling fresh. The actors also did a great job interacting with the audience at each table while serving drinks, which added a personal touch. Overall, despite a few hiccups with logistics and the cocktails, the strength of the performances makes this a worthwhile experience--especially if you're a Poe fan.

Partially mumbling about the show and partially mumbling about the venue/experience.) A few things worth noting: I had been here once prior for a seated show but never for a GA one. I'm not really an Everclear fan. Nothing wrong with the music, it just never caught my ear. My daughter is a huge fan so this was totally for her. Part of the GA issue was a non-issue as I forked out for the meet & great package so we were guaranteed to be on the rail as close as you could be. Everything in the email from the 3rd party company that handles the meet & greet stuff was all spot on: Show up at time X. Buy merch if you want before you are let in. You are let in at time X. You are given bag of swag. Band plays a single acoustic song. You line up the 1st time and the band will sign whatever and briefly talk to you about whatever you want. Art loved that I wasn't bringing the kid and that it was more that the kid brought me. You line up the 2nd time for pix with the blast furnaces in the background. This was well all executed. At time Y, the rest of crowd is let in and then you wait an hour until it's time to start except it wasn't really time to start as there was an opening act that no one seemed to know about. The show was the show. When you're that close, the sound is hard to judge. To me, it's all a sludgy mess musically although Art's vocals were, all things considered, excellent. At the end of the show the band came down to the rail and they were talking/selfie taking with everyone there. Art was beyond generous and gave my kid his setlist and a pick. Overall this was good. The staff got everyone in and out easily. Parking was a non-issue as we got there early and parked strategically to get out quickly. Art and the guys are pros-pros who know what they are doing. Another show here? Yep. Why not.

Excellent sound, with a great floor layout; even if you're toward the back, you've got a good view of the stage. They use those new-style of metal detectors where you just walk right through and don't have to slow down or empty your pockets. I'm a big fan of this, as it gets people into the venue faster while also keeping out dangerous items! Drinks are not as expensive as some music venues, and I appreciate that. The staff is friendly and helpful. And the bathrooms are absolutely luxurious, with many stall options. I love Archer Music Hall and hope they get more punk shows like this one, 'cause I'll absolutely be back.

Venue Atmosphere & Layout If you're into a club-style concert vibe, this place nails it. It is an intimate and inexpensive place to see an artist perform. The place seats about 200 people on folding metal chairs, with tickets at $20-$25. The headline act, last night, was the great Rory Block, a soulful blues singer and amazing guitarist who has been playing traditional country blues and old-timey-influenced folk music since the 1960's. She covered classic blues songs by Robert Johnson, Missisippi John Hurt, Son House, Muddy Waters,and others, as well as her original songs, plus she performed a couple of brilliant, acapella gospel numbers. She was captivating, as always, and I thoroughly enjoyed her performance. I was able to meet her after the show, and she autographed an instructional guitar DVD for me.
