Night life in Oslo I believe one of the best spots not going to lie, besides the security little stifff. But Dj was doing his thing all the bartenders smooth and polite. Service was great here, quick and efficient. We were seated right away, inside, no view of the harbor. If you fancy a view, do wait for a patio view of the harbor, well worth it during your meal. We had walked in and around the harbor enough, so, not seeing it for an hour or two wouldn't be a bother. It's a nicer and more posh restaurant and is in a touristy area, prices are a bit higher, but worth it. We had some wine. There are many fantastic restaurants in the Oslo area. This is another one especially on a beautiful day to eat outside. Good service and a great seafood soup followed by Moulin Frites. Great view in a nice place. Got a seat very quickly. The waiter was very polite. I enjoyed the scallop ceviche and cod loin. Both were good. But to be honest, the scallops were truly amazing. I wish they could make that as a main course. The flavors of the lime, avocados, sesame seeds, and some wasabi was so exciting. The gin and grapefruit drink I had was a bit strong, but I had to "just deal with it". The white wine made me feel better. Great ace for either a girls night out, dinner date, or even a "it's just me" date night. read more

Good food meh on service! Great location waterfront / shopping district of Aker Brygge. Ive been told if you're in Norway you have to have seafood. We saw Louise's menu and it looked appealing and also " reasonable " in a very expensive city. We sat on the patio, great for people watching. We ordered a "tasted of Norway" to start and bread. We waited 30 minutes to be brought to our table, I think they forgot, because the table beside us were sat 15 minutes after us and they were eating and drinking already. The food itself was good. For our mains we ordered frites and mussels and halibut again quality of food was great, but we gave up on the service. Too bad this place could have been great. read more

Well sadly since the last review was 3/2/2020 I must now break the bad news. The service is the worst. We had a 7:15pm reservation place our order about 7:30pm and sat, and sat we didn't even receive our appetizers and it was 8:35pm. After saying something to we think the Manager he brought us out truffle fries and an apology for us 3 grown ups, two men and a lady. Well it's now 8:40pm and I just got my oysters. So to make matters worse my dinner partners get there food at 8:50pm I don't get my food then I'm told I'm not getting my food for at least another 6 minutes that's a whole fishing excursion later. At the 2 hour mark I finally received my lobster and I had to find it on the plate. Bottoming service was really half ass and the food reflected the service. read more

I had lunch here since it had a nice view of the waterfront. It was a nice and sunny day so we sat outside. They had heat lamps and furs on the chairs in case you feel cold. We ordered the large fish soup, cured salmon, and the reindeer meatballs. The portions were small for the price but Norway was expensive everywhere. The dishes were all delicious. The salmon and meatball portions were very small. The fish soup was filling however. The food was fresh and I appreciated the greens that came with the entrees. So we were trolling the harbor in Oslo trying to find a place that wasn't too touristy. We picked this place, and got seated outside with a good view of the harbor. I was on a quest for good, local craft brew pubs, this place was not one of them. The menu was a little more upscale and focused on seafood. When in oslo, eat like a norwegian, and I did. In addition to oysters, I had to have the whale! Ahoy, there! Now before any one starts hating on me, eating whale, specifically the minke whale, is totally legal in norway. And this whale is not on any endangered list and it is in fact thriving due to strict control on hunting. Some people consider it a delicacy and its gaining popularity with the hipsters. Listen, other people go for reindeer (would you eat Rudolph?) In Norway, I go for moby! I paired it with a local Hefeweizen bier, nothing special, and went to town. The texture and taste of the whale steak was not that exciting. I've read if prepared well, while having a gamey taste, the minke whale has a great flavor. It was good, and honestly reminded me of liver. I did clean my plate. Regardless, the waitress was great, spoke English making our ordering easy for us monoglots, and the view was awesome. read more

We waited some time for our food despite the fact it wasn't really that busy **DECOR: upscale nautical theme, brass portholes, ships hanging above, various bric brac of fishing pictures and items but contemporary and done tastefully **RECOMMEND: Yes would recommend. We weren't planning on eating here but we were walking about tired and hungry and their menu appealed to everyone. What a great find! Was quite excited about their seafood menu but beware of poorly managed maitre'd situation. Wanted to take in the harbor and asked if I could have dinner outside but alas no. I was told to take a drink and then come inside for dinner. Did as told and even checked with front desk that evening reservations are light. Nursed 1 beer and took a 5 minute walk, tops 20 all in all. Went back in and was told NO tables. How you have ample of room for 1 person and lose all that in 20 mins way before 7pm is a bit confusing. read more

Great food, even better views of the harbor and boardwalk. Like most outdoor seating in Oslo, they provide warming blankets, which we needed, and it was summer. I'd recommend the seafood in this place as it is tops. They were on the slow side this day, but I'd gladly come back. read more

I really enjoyed my lunch here. I got there a little after 11am and had my pick of any table I wanted in the seating outside. I have been to this restaurant several times already so I already knew it would good. Today I ordered the seafood soup and the fresh shrimp for lunch. The seafood soup was delicious with lots of chunky seafood (salmon, mussels, etc) in every bite. The soup was creamy but not too heavy. After that, my plate of fresh shrimp arrived. It's a bit messy but so good. I think the shrimp are small in size but they are fresh and tasty. Not really familiar with shrimp in this area but maybe that is normal size. It came with an aioli that was so good. I also had some bread on the side. Overall, a light lunch and I was very happy with it. Prices are high, especially in this area but you're paying for both the food and the ambiance. Lots of tourists in this area so expect to pay more. The service was great, the waitress was very attentive and checked in on me often. I will definitely return for future meals. read more

Really, really yummy, but expensive (even for Oslo standards!). The service was great; we were with a large party of 7 and they handled us with ease. They helped translate any questions we had on the menu. For one glass of wine and the cod dish, I ended up spending about $50 USD. We could have easily spent $75 or $100 each if we had gotten appetizers and more drinks. The food was great and the decor was beautiful. Most of their menu consisted of sea food - including whale (gross to me, but if that's your thing - this is where to go). Definitely worth a stop if you're in the market for a "fancy" night out. read more

This place was good for a first dinner in Oslo because they have a plate with typical food (called "A taste of Norway"). We took it and a liter of fresh prawns. We share the whole thing, very great in terms of amount of food, quality and freshness. The view is also great, close to the marina. I would recommend. read more

I really love the decor inside the Louise restaurant - it is so unique! Every one of the staff was friendly from the hostess to the coat check to the waiter. The beer and wine selection is large but not overbearing. I don't speak Norwegian so I just pointed to one of the red wines and it actually ended up being great! I wish I could tell you which one it was lol... If you are any sort of fan of venison then you must get the reindeer. The steak was cooked perfectly (medium to medium rare) and they give you a smaller piece of meat on the side that has been slow cooked to tender perfection. You get the best of both worlds! The brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes that accompanied the dish were perfect. This is my sort of meal! The seating is a bit tight if you ask me, but other than that I would be back in a heartbeat for that deer. read more

I ordered the seafood platter for myself (yes all for myself, but it was the small one) and I was very happy with the selection of seafood. The platter came with mussels to start - the broth for the mussels is delicious. Their delicious and soft homemade bread was the perfect vessel to mop up the leftover broth from the mussels. Also, with my platter, came baby clams, a scallop served sashmi style, and lots of little boiled shrimps with various dipping sauces. It was a perfect seafood meal. My husband ordered the norway appetizer platter and ordered the mussels for his entree. We both agreed that the mussels were excellent. The waitress didn't know anything about wine and beer, she told us she was more of a "Bailey's" girl.. service was slow, portion small and showed all symptoms of a typical tourist trap. I had the mussels, rest of the party had burgers or shrimps and the feedback was "it's alright". They didn't even have 3 out of the small beer list they had. When we asked for the check, it took them 30 minutes. And the waitresses had a really hard time working with the bill, when she came to me she asked "have you calculated how much you are going to pay?". No! I tried to eat at this restaurant based on a local recommendation. When I arrived the restaurant was no more than 60% full. The greeter let me stand there for 5 minutes before approaching me. He advised me the restaurant was "fully booked", rolled his eyes and walked away. I tried to ask for a recommendation for another seafood restaurant. He simply continued to walk away. I was dressed in a suit so I don't know what the issue was. I went to the restaurant next door. When I finished my meal I checked the Louise Restaurant and it was still no more than 60% full. The food and service was excellent. I got the whale because it seemed to be the craziest thing on the menu. It was really good, it taste a lot like beef. We also got the burger, with this delicious chili sauce. I think the servers name was Sanna. She was very friendly, attentive and even stuck around to answer all of my questions about whale and reindeer meat. We will come back to this restaurant next time we're in Oslo. read more
