I purchased a vehicle from another state and spoke with Louisiana Auto Title & Notary on three separate occasions (before and during the sale) and was advised with absolute conference on each call that the best course of action was to have the vehicle registered in the other state, and I would receive a credit when I registered in LA and there would be no difference in my overall out of pocket. That was not entirely true. When I arrived to register the car they then, and only then, changed the story informing me I would still have to pay a vehicle usage tax on the value of the vehicle. I could have avoided this by originally registering it in LA even if more difficult to do so. read more
