This is the second time we've taken this boat cruise. We got so much out of it before that we…read morewanted to take our son. This is a traditional paddlewheel boat with three levels. The top level has a bar counter and tables under a canopy. Up front there are benches so you are looking straight ahead as you travel. The middle level has a nice indoor dining room. You can order traditional Louisiana dishes. Outside the dining room are benches. We chose to sit on the top level facing forward, but it was so cold in front, we moved to the tables in the rear. There is a wonderful narrator letting you know when you pass interesting sites. The Domino Sugar factory that you pass is really something to see, and it's hard to believe it's still in use. They make a stop at the Chalmette Battlefield (you can get off the boat or stay and relax on the boat). There is a tour guide who talks about the battleground, which is pretty interesting. The best thing about the Creole Queen is the narrator. After the battlefield, the second half of the tour focuses on Hurricane Katrina. He wants that it can be disturbing and announced that if you didn't want to hear it, you can go to the dining room, as it isn't broadcasted in there. He is very candid, and I learned so much about the terrible way Hurricane Katrina was handled, as well as just how terrible the hurricane was. It was very, very sad. I highly recommend this tour. As I said, we enjoyed it so much the first time that we wanted to go back and share it with our son.

My original wedding was planned onboard a different NOLA-based competitor's ship but they ended up cancelling my wedding, which was extremely stressful at the time, but a blessing in disguise. Karen worked with us and helped us plan an even better wedding event. All of the staff were amazing on the day of, especially our officiant, Captain Brian. The Creole Queen was a fun and unique wedding venue. The food and drinks were delicious and the band onboard who did our second line were awesome!

There are a few airboat tour companies near New Orleans, but we decided to go with Airboat Adventures due to the price and positive reviews online. I booked the tour online through their website. If you want something more private, go witha smaller airboat, which is a bit more expensive than the large airboat. But because we're chickens, we decided to go with the larger airboat that held more people. The tour offers transportation to their location by bus for an extra fee, but we decided to drive our own car since they provided on-site parking. I do recommend driving your own car, because the drive was absolutely scenic. A lot of green and we got to see all the beautiful houses built on stilts on the way. Not to mention, it's about a 30 min drive from New Orleans. When we arrived, there were plenty of parking. They also had bathrooms inside and on the exterior of their store, which were very clean! Inside the store, you can check out a live albino alligator and take photos while you wait. You can also wait outside on the dock -- plenty of seating and you can grab a drink at the bar. The tour was amazing and so was our tour guide. The weather was nice, we saw a lot of gators sunbathing a bald eagle, and its nest. It was more than what I expected! Everyone in my party had a great time and more memories were made! Side note: Airboats are very loud so make sure you keep the headphones on!

I selected the 6PM seating time so that I would be done with the meal by the time the Steamboat Natchez starts moving around 7PM. The dining area interior space was lovely and expansive with chandeliers, as well as a stage area. Each table had a bowl of Caesar Salad placed there already. Lettuce was nice and crunchy, with plenty of tangy dressing and croutons. Upon being seated, the server took drink orders and I selected Iced Tea (one of the complimentary beverages being offered). The Iced Tea was sweet and refreshing. Next, we were served Gumbo with rice, which was warm, flavorful, and comforting. As for the buffet, there was Shrimp Pasta, a few different saucy dishes made with veggies and meat, potatoes with bacon and peas, Prime Rib, Fried Chicken, and Green Beans. I really enjoyed the Shrimp Pasta, which was made with creamy, well seasoned sauce, and tender shrimp. The saucy dishes were cooked well and bold in flavor. Prime Rib was a little tough. Fried Chicken was delightfully crispy, but a bit on the dry side and could have used more flavor. Green Beans had a perfect consistency with yummy seasoning. For dessert, I tried both the Bread Pudding and Cheesecake with tasty coffee. Both were delicious in their own way. Bread Pudding was dense, with a milky, velvety smooth topping, while the Cheesecake was more light and airy, yet still rich. Service was solid. The waitress was friendly and attentive. Everything (drinks, appetizer, dessert, coffee) came out in a timely manner and the main dishes were part of the buffet. When done eating, I went out to take in golden hour sunset, then headed up to the top deck, where I found a seat. Live jazz music was performed throughout the evening. It was a perfect night for feeling the wind in my hair, watching the skyline go by along the Mississippi River, and the twinkling lights of the city as the sky turned dark. I really enjoyed myself on this iconic Jazz Cruise along Mississippi River.

Bar had good options from local beers to specialty cocktails and you could even buy snacks! I had a sweet tooth and got a chocolate covered elephant ear which was literally the size of my head! Cruise was long but it was nice to just sit around and see the city from a different view!
