The people are friendly, the shop is cute, they have staff-recommended items on each shelf, and very LGBTQ+ friendly and supportive. Their email newsletter has info on all of their book clubs (of which there are many) - eventually I will participate in one, just haven't had a chance to yet! There are several monthly book clubs for a good variety of different genres. Caboose (their children's book shop right next door) also has a ton of programming for kids and families!

Rather than a good filing system, books are more or less grouped. Prices are much too high, both for new and for older used books. The selection also tends far left and revolutionary, which fits as they were playing some loud zephyr music for my visit. The staff was also unfriendly, more interested in their conversation than customers. I strongly advise going to either King Books Detroit, or King North, instead. Unless you have a taste for far left books and spending a long time hunting for books than interest you.

I just love their variety of topics, and I always find something I "just" had to buy! Another big plus for me is that all the staff knows exactly where whatever topic I'm looking for is located. I've never been treated rudely for the entirety at this location. I also find their books easy to afford and not up-pricing. It helps on a budget for even the new arrivals of all my favorite horror authors, King, McCammon, Patterson, Saul, etc.

I came here the other day specifically for Pete Souza's new book, which is hysterical and amusing after only three pages. I would've saved around 10 bucks had I ordered online, but I couldn't wait 3-5 days. The employees don't seem too high strung, and seem very eager to help you out, which is great because it can be annoying when it's obviously that you need help, yet staff just walks by you. When I initially entered the store the first thing to catch my eye was a mug. I end up picking it up, only to add to the 40+ mugs I already have and don't really need. In addition to mugs they're tons of gadgets, cards, keychains, ect... This store almost feels like a an outlet Barnes and Nobles meets Borders. Plan on return to do some Christmas shopping for friends/family who also loves books.

You could spend hours just glancing through one row of shelves and still not even catch half of it. The books here are high quality, ranging from contemporary titles to 19th century (and probably beyond) originals. There's a bit of everything, from history and archaeology, to religion and spirituality, to music and cars, to novels and poetry, to travel and hobbies, to social matters and Jewish interests. If you like books, knowledge, or anything that could be found in a written text, you'll find it here. Apparently people dislike the owner. I have no idea why. He's brief, witty, and competent. It would have been one thing to just ask me to dust them or maybe just sarcastically ribbed me about it a little, but he was genuinely bitter about it! "Why clean them when you can just dump them on me?" he said. Like okay, I'm not perfect and didn't realize quite how dusty these old books are, but at the same time, maintaining the physical condition of books is part of YOUR job, my guy. I didn't need that crappy attitude. Hopefully one of the books I gave him has termites in them or something. Go somewhere else!
