My friend who is GF found this place on Yelp and we tried it for the first time today. There are many many flavors that looked good and I would love to try more next time. My favorite of the 3 we tried today was the bourbon maple pecan. I am not GF and was pleasantly surprised at the taste these had as normally GF items are not worth the calories IMO. We found this place when looking for a new bakery to try. Turns out this place has meat pies and cakes, an amazing combo that is not easy to find. They have a huge selection of both, and offer many gluten free and vegetarian options as well which is rare. We ordered a bunch of savory and sweet pies to try out. They were super helpful as well, and gave some great recommendations. The atmosphere is simple but straight forward, and the pies we tried were a mix of delicious to just okay! How did we find this? Our dental hygienist. She loves to talk about food whenever we come in for a cleaning. (Maybe job security?) And I really can not figure out how she stays so slender...my number one rule is to never trust a skinny person's food recommendations. But this time, I am dead wrong. The Yelp reviews were so mixed that I found it tough to muster the courage to buy from some place with such a wide range of reviews. Add to that, my entire life has evolved around really good pies. Mom (RIP) made the best, so I am exceedingly picky! But that is now a moot point. I think I have finally found the answer to my impossibly high expectations. Here. I hate that my husband thinks he wants to buy "one of each" when he makes a discovery such as this. His sweet tooth cravings are 2nd only to his Prime Rib addiction. I knew we were in big trouble when the lady running the front of this tiny brick and mortar store explained they actually have at least 150 different pies. Oh dear gawd! We were able to whittle it down 5 mini pies: peach, strawberry rhubarb, black bottom chocolate cream, key lime, and lastly, an artichoke dried tomato quiche. $15 ea. Yeah, not exactly cheap. But you might not understand. When you first walk in and your nose is assaulted by the extreme smell of the butter they put in everything, you know there is no turning back. My kids' inheritance just shrank. The crust? Tender and buttery. The fillings? Every doggone one of them was superb. Oh yes, we nibbled once we got home. Also, I must include that we took them up on their free sample offerings. We are no fools. I love that their fillings are not sweet. This way, the fruit and other fillings shine! They also are helpful, labeling their pies (and pie crust) options as gluten-free, vegan, and keto-friendly pies. And apparently, they are baking throughout the day. Our precious strawberry rhubarb (amazing!) was still hot. They also have a commercial refrigerator and freezer that hold many more pre-made items. They do a lot of their sales at very high-end Farmers' Markets, but we can be thankful there is this one permanent location that is open 6 days a week. Now go ahead, all you pie fanatics! Even better they were little personal pies so I was able to get different flavors; I got peach and berry. The woman that helped me on the phone was very pleasant and helpful. I ordered from their website which had DoorDash delivery available! Made my life that much easier on this last minute birthday surprise. I'll be visiting this bakery again for future dessert needs! These are gourmet pies, so they are very pricey (which is the ONLY thing preventing a full 5-star review for me)...but quality ingredients are expensive, and pie making is a true, true art. I love to splurge on these for special occasions. If you like crap, then yes, go buy the cheap junk elsewhere. But when you want a savory ( GF chicken pot pies, oh yes!) or sweet (the salted caramel apple is the absolute bomb) experience, then this is your place. They are awesome about offering samples, so I don't see why anyone has to purchase a "surprise". I can't wait until the cafe part opens. The girl that answered the phone simply said, "I sold them" what???!!! She said she didn't look at the computer someone came in, she sold them. Then she said that this company does open air markets on the weekends and doesn't have pies on the weekend. This place left me speechless. I told her I would take whatever they had. They were at the downtown La Quinta farmer's market and I had to "sniff in" due to the diverse pie list and how rare it is to find some of the pies on their list being offered. The CONS here are the size and the price. Essentially, if you measure the true diameter of the pie you are paying $15.00 for a 4" pie. Even if you are fine dining, it can be harder to find a $15.00 dessert on the dessert menu. It happens but it is less common. That being said, we'll move on to the looks and taste. BOURBON MAPLE PECAN PIE: The pie looks the part and sniffs nicely. I had mini baby slices over a few days, some with whipped cream and some without. The flavor of bourbon is nice and medium strong which is a good thing. Some bakers call a dessert bourbon and there are only hints or notes of it. This had legit bourbon flavor. The maple plus bourbon is one of my favorite combos of all time. Whether it is in pies, cookies, coffee...it's all good with me. The crust was not the best nor the worst I have had. I wonder what bourbon they used in this pie. I'm a Maker's Mark bourbon fan so I am curious. Canadian dark maple syrup is the best IMHO so I also wonder what they used here. RATING = A- I was interested in the COCONUT CREAM PIE as well as it is hard to find a good one. However, once told the pricing and contemplating how well it would travel home, I vetoed it. I think if you are interested in one of their flavors that is hard to find in pie shops it is worth it. Otherwise, I would stick to your favorite pie place in your area as the value simply is not there. Possibly they are renting a commercial kitchen for producing these pies but even still the cost is prohibitive. read more

Like so many others, I stumbled upon Love, Dream & Pies. We were in town for a convention and were waiting for a table at The Mill. We walked in and were warmly greeted by Teri. (She's the sweetest.) I ordered the keto cheesecake pie with lemon curd. Yes, it's a little pricey, but eating REAL ingredients is an investment I am absolutely willing to make. While we waited outside for our table at The Mill, my friends and I started eating our pies. Pretty soon, another large group that had been waiting, disappeared. They later came back with their pies. All in all, about 15 of us were all happily waiting for lunch with forks of pie in our mouths. It was hilarious. Getting back to the pie, the cheesecake was light and creamy just as it should be. This is a hard review to write. I went there to pick up a couple pies for a friend's birthday and decided to get a chicken pot pie for ourselves. Our friends said the chocolate cream pie was great and the banana cream pie was good. The chicken pot pie however was horrible. We followed the cooking directions up until the hour mark. We checked the temp and it was 200 degrees internally (recommended 160) so we decided to take it out. Had we left it the additional 30 min it recommended we would have turned it into a hockey puck. The chicken was dry, there was virtually no "broth" and the crust..... was bad. My husband bakes frequently so I understand what good crust tastes like. This was beyond bad in texture and flavor. Like I said, horrible. Now factor in the price point of $35 for an 8" pie. Ridiculous. We will not be back, not ever. Should we need a pie and my husband isn't able to get it done we will happily drive to Hemet to Polly's Pies. read more
