The kids always come back asking to attend another class because they had so much fun, made new friends, and are so proud of their final art work. I am always surprised with the art work they come home with... the art is very creative, fun, and beautiful. I love that they introduce different materials (different paints, clays, etc.) and the kids really take ownership in their art work. We proudly display many of their art pieces and even send some to grandparents to enjoy. It's a cute little family owned branch located in the same plaza at Bad Ass Coffee/ Pitchers Sports Bar in Rancho Penasquitos. Ms. Alicia is the Principal/ Branch Owner. She exercises strong communication, is very approachable and kind, and coordinates great lessons (so there's new activities throughout the week). I also appreciate that she has a team of assistants to coordinate each class and to ensure the kids are supported. Most of all, she creates wonderful memories during the moments the kids are out of school (saving the sanity of parents balancing work). She goes above and beyond…read more I felt as though I was in a kind of cool spiritual session every time we met for art lessons. She believes in the spiritual aspect of art along with everything else that goes with your "typical" art lessons. I learned lots about colors, values, along with some technical "stuff" that I did not know about. I'm a self-taught artist, always drew using ink, so everything I drew was in black and white. Wendy introduced me to colors one day, by the use of watercolors. At first, I was hesitant, but she simply put the paints and brushes next to me, showed me some brush techniques, and of course shared her knowledge and expertise, and allowed me to explore more or less on my own. And wow! A whole new world of art, and COLOR came flooding into my little black and white world! I still love my ink, but watercolors are right up there. No matter where you are along your journey in art, Wendy is a fantastic teacher/mentor. I promise you, you will learn something.

How fortunate we are to have this in our town! We met artists Irma Pina-Garner and her husband, Ed Garner. They are such kind and genuinely interesting people who are so passionate about their crafts. No pressure to buy! When we got home my husband and I talked about how much we would love to have one of Irma's silk paintings so we measured a couple potential spots and I went back today to measure her pieces that are on display and I ended up staying almost an hour just talking to Irma and Ed and looking at more art in depth. One of the things I was concerned about was that one of Irma's pieces was almost perfect but I wasn't sure that the color of the mats would work in the space we are considering. She said no problem, we could work with her framer (Bill Anderson, the Frugal Framer) to do a changeout for a reasonable price - or maybe we will just start from scratch with one of her unframed pieces. Get there 15 minutes early to set up and bring an easel if you wish to stand. We only did 2 days as we had a lapse in our other summer programs. First, the staff were VERY friendly and welcoming throughout the entire day, from drop off to pick up. My kids loved the staff there. They love kids and have a true passion for the arts. Secondly, my kids loved their time there and learned a lot. They came home with their artwork and were blown away on how they all came out. It's a testament to the teachers skills. Communication was excellent between us and staff . Very clean facilities, organized, and loved all the amazing artwork made by kids displayed on the walls . Overall excellent experience and will plan on doing another week or two this summer!
