If you are unfamiliar with fair trade, fair trade changes the way trade works through better prices, decent working conditions and a fairer deal for makers in developing countries. You purchase a beautiful product that helps a person (usually women) obtain a living wage. From jewelry, to pottery, clothing and home goods, Voiajer has a huge selection of thoughtful items. I loved that their fair trade practices also include a photo and small story about the maker. I purchased a necklace and enjoyed reading about the amazing Haitian woman that made it. If I were a local, I could have easily purchased so many other pieces of decor! Voiajer is located on the main drag of shops and is conveniently located next to a bakery. I came into this shop twice in the morning after my coffee and it made me so happy. It didn't have a price so I asked a second young lady, "How much?". She acted as though I was bothering her when she came over, looked at it, told me the price (without making any eye contact), and then went back behind the counter. That's when I noticed the first young lady, that was previously at the earrings, went behind the counter. The bell went off in my head, "oh she works here." It was at that moment, I said, "Let's go!" Just about every major brand you can think of is here, making it easy to spend several hours shopping if that's your thing. The only downside is the layout. Instead of being designed so you can start at one end and work your way through the entire center--or follow a convenient loop--the stores are spread across multiple sections. We noticed a lot of people parking, visiting a few stores, then getting back in their cars to drive to another section and repeat the process. It doesn't make for the most efficient shopping experience. We happened to visit during a stretch of 100°+ temperatures, so walking from one section to another simply wasn't practical. We visited the stores we wanted to see, then called it a day. In cooler weather, it would be much easier to spend several hours exploring everything the outlets have to offer. Overall, the selection is outstanding. Whether you're looking for clothing, shoes, accessories, home goods, or specialty stores, chances are you'll find what you're looking for. Just plan ahead, wear comfortable shoes, and if you're visiting during the summer, be prepared to use your car to get between sections.
