I have gone back & fourth on whether I wanted to write this review or not for awhile. But…read moreultimately I've decided it's probably best if it helps anyone avoid the anxiety I went through for 10 months. My husband & I booked BYC Party Farm for our wedding reception from 4pm-9pm. Initially the owner, Brianna, was very responsive & excited. She said this was her first wedding & she couldn't wait. She even went as far as to say "my job is to make your dream wedding possible". I had very little expectations of her though. All I wanted was for her to do what she was contractually obligated & answer any questions that occur as a result. I paid off the entire reception & all adds on to this event at BYC Party Farms roughly 7-8 months in advance. Once I paid off the entire balance, Brianna's communication with me became very flighty, inconsistent, & short. Getting answers on simple, everyday wedding things was like pulling teeth. For example she told me she has a DJ she works with & that I could book through her for it. Great ! I texted her 3 times to try & book the DJ. First text, April 1st, no response. Second text, April 7th, no response. Third text, April 9th, finally a response. Her response was to just find my own & book through them. Okay not sure why I had to wait 9 days for an answer on something you offered. This is just one example of the many times I tried to ask simple questions so that I can book things & handle it all- on my own. I tried to be very patient & accommodating. I did not want to pester her, which is why I actively avoided even reaching out to her & handled everything on my own.
I had entrusted a coworker & her husband to go to the reception venue before all the guests & myself would arrive, to set up our bar & cocktail hour foods. I communicated this with Brianna. Let her know I was having extra tables delivered with extra décor, table linens, etc. But I let her know my coworker & her husband were setting it up. When my coworker & her husband arrived (1hr before cocktail hour), they let me know that Brianna had just started setting up. She just started setting up for 80 people, for a wedding reception, 1hr before it starts. Great. They asked her which table is the bar & cocktail hour foods so we can start setting up & she says "where you want, set it up wherever". Except, her & I had literally discussed which tables are for the bar & cocktail hour foods. It was super frustrating to learn she played dumb. After they finish setting up, she notifies them "oh yeah, she got extra table linen & décor too I dont know if you care to set it up". Yeah. They do. I bought it for a reason? I don't want cocktail hour food on a bare table? My coworker & her husband, being the good people they are, notice she is not going to finish decorating in time for the reception so they offer to help & she GLADLY accepts. Then she proceeds to tell them how she will NEVER do another wedding again. This made me so upset because I was so patient & accommodating to Brianna. Despite me being the one paying for a service & having to pull teeth to even get it.
The entire night of the reception from 4pm to 9pm, Brianna did not come say hi to myself or my husband. She did not check on us, congratulate us, nothing. She quite literally (half-assed) set up & ran inside her house. Even after, or the next day, she never said a word. The professionalism was greatly lacking. I am very saddened at how I was treated by Brianna.
I unfortunately would not recommend this venue to anyone. Which is sad because it's adorable & has a lot of potential. But Brianna really ruined this experience for me & made my day unnecessarily stressful by her lack of care & effort. If you don't want to plan parties- don't advertise yourself as a party PLANNER and host.
