The place is dirty, the teachers clearly do not like children and the director gaslights the parents. We saw things with our own eyes upon arrival and that was enough to remove our child from this place. We notified the director about the teacher's behavior and the director neglected to do anything or even acknowledge that the behavior was unacceptable to a preschool teacher. My child still has nightmares about that one day.

My now 4 year-old is almost reading! They provide a tremendous curriculum for every single classroom, including Infant I. What I also loved was the fact that babies are not all in the same classroom up until 1 year. They are promoted based on what they can do, not their age (e.g. promotion from Infant I to Infant II class happens when the baby starts pulling to standing so that the Infant II teachers can begin working with the child to walk). The teachers there have longevity in their classrooms and love our children as I do!

Lana liked it so much she still introduces herself as a "dolphin"! that was her class. The school is big, well equipped inside and outdoors, full of extra curriculum classes (you pay extra about $35-$45 per month) and overall the atmosphere is buzzing with a positive energy. Lana had young teachers. All very knowledgeable and great with kids. One downside they changed 3 times while she was there. You get reports every day. You can see the kids art creations posted on the walls next to each class. The school has lots of events and field trips (one every other week). One big plus for me was the fact the school cooks fresh, quality and nutritious food every day. They will accommodate health special needs. There was great deal of involvement from parents who are expected and highly encouraged to participate. We were meeting at least once a month (great chance to get out too and make new connections) to discuss activities for kids and ways to help the teachers. About tuition payments: The school is relatively expensive for South Carolina, close to $900 a month for 4-6 years old, but is well worth it. DI is one of the few NAEYC accredited schools in the state. The tuition needs to be paid 2 weeks in advance every other week. When you enroll you're also asked to pay for the last 2 weeks of the calendar year (i.e. you pay this year for June 2009) Bottom line Daniel Island Academy is an excellent pre-shool choice.

Pleasant location right off Coleman down from Shem Creek with plenty of parking in the strip mall it is located in. It made it easy to drop off our kid and be on our way and to pick her up as well. Inside of the Play Garden they have all sorts of cool things for the kiddies to do; from playing on slides, playing with toys, to crafts such as painting. The staff here is awesome. They were very nice and I salute them for their patience with 50 screaming kids running around. We look forward to using Play Garden again soon when we need that last minute sitter.

First the guy who answered the phone (i suck at names so i dont remember his name) but he was very pleasant to talk to, extremely helpful, and very informative. Second, they are affordable, and offer different amount of days as well which was exactly what i was looking for. My son is not enrolled yet but after just that call, i am very certain i found the perfect daycare for my son. I usually dont leave reviews for anything but this deserved one. Honestly i am so excited to get him in!!
