Very Disappointing Experience I'm extremely disappointed with this dog boarding/daycare facility. We had used it before without issues, which makes this experience especially disappointing. Our dog stayed there from June 25 through July 9, 2026, with daycare twice a week. When we picked him up on July 9, we discovered a significant hole in his ear. No one had contacted us, and the receptionist said no injury was documented in his file. Staff could not explain what happened or identify which dog may have caused it. We were directed to the facility's veterinary hospital, where our dog had to be sedated, stitched, and treated with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medication. He also had to wear a cone for three weeks. We were charged for the medications and requested reimbursement from both the veterinary hospital and daycare and yes we were reimbursed. The daycare offered only 10% off a future boarding stay and two free daycare days. We have no interest in returning and no longer trust this facility with our dog's care. Accidents can happen, but an injury requiring sedation, stitches, medication, and three weeks in a cone should have been documented and reported immediately. Instead, our dog is now missing part of his ear. This experience revealed serious failures in supervision, communication, documentation, and accountability. read more

GET THERE ON TIME! Our pets have stayed here a few times in the past (maybe 4 or 5) and they're typically fine, not great, not bad, just fine. My somewhat neurotic dog scraped her face up trying to get out last time because of the fireworks around the 4th of July, but otherwise they've been...fine. Not "write a review on Yelp" worthy, basically. However, we found out today that they do have an extremely strict 8-3 drop off/pickup time. I say this because we had scheduled to have our three pets stay for two nights and didn't get the chance to drop them off until 4:30, only to find our _entire reservation_ had been given away. No call, no text, no warning; miss the time and your reservation is washed away. Pretty frustrating. If I had known that the reservation holding was so mailable, I suppose I probably would've tried to find time to let them know I'd be late. For that they get two stars, instead of one. Fortunately, PetSmart at the LB Town Center had availability and we were able to find them rooms for the two nights, so we were still able to leave town for the wedding we're attending. Will be going there from now on, not that it apparently matters to LPHS as they clearly have a long waitlist. read more

I'm writing this review today to warn everyone what happened to our dog here. Our dog was boarded here in June 2022. We believe someone in the facility abused our dog. My dog had a huge bruise on his chest as if someone with shoes kicked him straight in the chest. When I went to pick up my dog to put him in the car he cried and thought nothing of it. When we got home to shower him is when we saw the bruise. See the picture below, that is our dog same day we picked him up after we showered him at home. The same day we raised it to the staff they acted surprised and then referred us to an 'affiliated' veterinarians. The affiliated veterinary was absolutely no help. The Dr. tried to say my dog was really agitated and aggressive, no shit he's in a lot of pain from getting kicked in the chest. He tried to say that the bruise looked like an allergic reaction. He also mention that it could have been caused by his harness. The Dr. never came back in to explain what was wrong with my dog. It's unfortunate that they are even considered a vet place as they clearly turned their head on an abused dog. We will also be writing a BBB complaint on their practice. As a critical care medical provider myself, It was clear that the bruise was at least a couple of days old and not fresh. Please note that the blood is due to veterinarian shaving his hair to look at the area. We had our dog for over 12 years and he is groom very regularly due to being a poodle. He has never had any allergy reaction or heat patches. We took our dog for a physical the weekend before we boarded our dog. It was clear that my dog did not have any physical pain or bruise in the chest area or any signs of ever having allergies anywhere on his body. We have already warned all our family members and they know and are staying away. We are also a US Army family and warn any of my fellow Service Members looking for a safe place to board their pet to STAY away from this place. We will also be reporting our situation with the BBB. This whole experience made us sick. We have lost so much trust. We can not ever look at boarding or veterinarians the same. It's unfortunate to sit here and write about what happened to us but we cannot let this go unknown. This place need to be investigated. read more

My husband and I have been bringing both of huskies here for about half a year. I wanted to wait to review to see how it was after a couple of times. I have zero complaints because the staff is really engaging with both you and your pets. My huskies love it so much that when we drop them off, they don't even look back. Each time, they have been tired because of all the play time and they're so happy. The place is the compete package. If you don't want to bring the food daily for your pups, they will feed them for $5 per day. Great service. read more

I've been bringing my dog here since we adopted him and it is his favorite place on earth! The staff know and love him and are so good to him! My dog hates going in the water but one day when I picked him up he was wet because they had a little pool for the dogs to play in and he ventured out of his comfort zone to splash around! When we dropped off our dog, they asked if we wanted to pay extra for playtime. We declined, as sometimes our dog can get snappy or stressed around other dogs and we didn't want anyone to get hurt. When we picked up our dog a few days later, the staff said that they'd gone ahead and let her have playtime anyway and they that she had fun. I was glad it went well, but that struck me as surprisingly irresponsible, as I'm scared of what could have happened if she had gotten seriously hurt or hurt another dog. Also, (and possibly related) my dog had a handful of scabs on her ears and head when we got her back. This has never happened before when we leave her with our vet, nor has it ever happened when we leave her in her kennel at home. I know accidents happen and the staff is very likely underpaid and overworked, so I didn't say anything when I picked her up because I didn't want to get anyone in trouble, and the damage was already done. In the end, my dog healed up and is totally fine now, but based on this experience I will choose another business next time. read more

I've been boarding Rocko here for over 2 years and highly recommend this place. The staff is attentive and care about the dogs well-being. Rocko always seems to enjoy his stay. Price is affordable, no hidden charges...which are common with other dog boarding businesses. We have a good review for this pet hotel. They love their guests and were very nice to to our baby. It's pretty obvious the poor reviews are by competitors. A 9-day stay, and our pup was returned in good health and was quite happy to see his owners on our return. They let us bring in his bed, blanket, and toy, and all were returned to us. However, as we only recently adopted him, we know he was stressed while there and didn't eat quite as well as they said he had. We know he doesn't eat much when stressed, but the food returned to us seemed to indicate a better appetite than what we believe to have been the case. Now, frankly, we don't consider that to be a bad thing - it means he had plenty of food available to him, and they tossed out any leftovers when the next mealtime came around. Not a knock on the business, really. We have a suggestion, one that we'd pay extra for, however- a livestream/webcam of his individual kennel would be awesome. We will return - thank you for taking great care of our little puppy. read more

Their website, Yelp page and info pamphlet all indicate they close at 7PM on weekdays. I learned the hard way when I went to go pick up my dog from daycare at 5:45PM and the doors were locked and nobody was inside. I see a small sign on the door about the size of a large index card that has updated hours. Maybe it was my fault for not noticing it before and I do take partial blame for my being late to pick up my dog because of this, but what business doesn't update their hours over the internet? We aren't living in the Stone Age and most folks nowadays find info they're looking for on the internet. I had to pull some strings to get someone to meet me at the facility to open the door so i can retrieve my dog. By this I mean I called the vet office that's affiliated with them and was able to get a hold of the floor manager who went out of the way to try to contact a staff member. He even got a hold of the key to the facility and drove out to meet me all the while maintaining a super professional attitude. I was so impressed and thankful I made sure to bring a Starbucks gift card with me to give him as a token of my appreciation. I get back to the facility to meet the guy to pick up my dog and am surprised to see that the girl who checked my dog in bringing my dog out. She apparently came back after finding out I called the vet office they're affiliated with. At the same time the man from the vet office pulls up and gets out of his car. The girl wastes no time blaming me for the incident when to be honest they are at least mostly to blame. She decided to lie and tell me and the man that I've been here several times and that they told me numerous times about the hours. FALSE. While it's true I've been to the facility 4 times now, they only told me what time they close one time when I dropped my dog off for daycare on a Sunday l. She said they close at 5, but last pickup is at 430. Fair enough, their hours are til 5pm on weekends as indicated on their website, Yelp page and pamphlet. I picked my dog up at 4pm that day. What annoyed me more is that the girl blatantly lied saying they told me the hours NUMEROUS TIMES as if I repeatedly didn't pick up my dog on time before. Also she was insisting each time I dropped my dog off they told me about their hours which I swear is NOT TRUE. YOUR WEBSITE, YELP PAGE AND PAMPHLET ALL SAY TOU CLOSE AT 7pm on weekdays!!! You know what's even more annoying?? They didn't even bother to contact me before closing and throwing my dog who has separation anxiety and diet restrictions into a kennel before locking up and leaving. When she came out with my dog he was obviously distressed and panting from being locked up and confined. What made it worse is that the girl told me she fed him their food and also some treats YOU DONT FEED SHIT TO OTHER PEOPLES DOGS WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT DUE TO DIETARY RESTRICTIONS! Something a business of this nature should know. Again, no one called or contacted me so of course she didn't know. The girl was more interested in leaving than doing the right thing. She deflected the blame on to me and even walked away when the conversation wasn't even heated or finished. Of course my dog is sick now from the crap she fed him and I have an expensive vet appt coming up today. Needless to say, I'm going to stop coming here as there are just way too many red flags. Here are some: - they require your dog to have certain vaccines. I had my vet email me my dog's vaccination record and brought it with me to the first day of daycare. I forwarded the record to their email address and the girl didn't even look at the record before taking the leash from my and leading my dog to the back. They just go through the motion of pretending they're doing something right but just basically pushing paper. THEY DONT CARE. - they told me they don't allow tours of the facility because of COVID. Understandable. But if it's because of COVID why is the entire staff walking around with no mask. Why are there no hand sanitizers at the front desk? What's the real reason for not letting folks see the facility? With no camera system in place how do we know our dogs are really having fun in an open play area and not locked up in their shelter-like cages(you can see photos on their site or Yelp)? How would owners know if their dog is being picked on or picking on another dog? What are you trying to hide? - they have a sign promoting a discount for people who leave reviews. Most of the good reviews on here are because of this promotion. If you read the reviews most of them seem very obligatory and repetitive. Just a quick review to get something written in there so they can get their $5 discount. A bribe if you will. Here's a few other red flags I caught. I dropped off my 2 HEALTHY, YOUNG cats Oliver and Rubio on December 17th 2021 and only one of them came home. My 2 cats are bonded so I called and asked more than once if they would be staying together in the same kennel. I dropped them off the day of my flight to Mexico only to find out my cats were "too big" to stay together. I was not happy about this but they re assured me that they would be right next to eachother and would be allowed to come out and play with one another. Additionally, I asked to see where they would be staying only to find out they were not doing tours due to Covid. The 2 girls there weren't even wearing a mask. Imagine that! I should have trusted my instinct and taken them somewhere else but it was too late to make a reservation anywhere else and I had a flight to catch that same day. I called twice since I dropped them off. Both times they told me Rubio was anxious but I figured he was just getting adjusted to his environment. They never told me Rubio was franctic or anything like that. Today, I got a call in the morning from one of the ladies there to let me know Rubio had a seizure and they were taking him to the hospital. This was a shock to me. Rubio is not even a year old and he had NEVER had a health issue in the past. Half an hour later the vet called and told me Rubio had arrived dead at the pet hospital. I was devastated. The vet told me they did an x ray and that Rubio was perfectly healthy. He told me he was a big boy and had a big heart but nothing that could have caused his death. An hour later the vet called me to tell me Rubio had died from a heart attack. I am devastated and at a loss for words. I had my cousin immediately drive over to pick up Oliver. He dropped him off at my place a little bit ago. Oliver has not stopper meowing since he got back. He misses his brother Rubio. I would have never imagined that dropping off my cats are a HIGHLY rated cat hotel would have resulted in this. Please do not make the mistake I made. This place has A LOT to work on in order to be able to proper take care of your cats. read more

This has become my dogs home away from home! I boarded them for the first time while going on a short vacation & noticed my dogs seemed more relaxed when they came home. I also had to board them for an extended time while searching for housing. They gave me updates & assures me they were doing well over that period of time. The staff are awesome! You can tell they bond with the pets & they care about them. Now I bring them to daycare care 2-3 times a week, if I'm working late or just to allow them time to exercise with other dogs. It makes a difference in their overall health & well-being. I'm no longer living in Long Beach, but I don't mind the drive. My dog had to have been EXTREMELY tortured during the week he was there because I still cannot coach him back into doing the normal things he was doing before. We used to take walks down to and around the Pike in DTLB; I can't even get him to walk around the corner at my own apartment building. That means he's even not getting required exercise. Maybe the VERY UNPROFESSIONAL STAFF there found it humorous to torture my dog to the point where he's afraid to walk outside, afraid to walk alongside buildings, and anxious when people try to approach him. This place gets a POS rating from me. The good reviews are probably those submitted by patrons who took the business up on their $10 discount for leaving a review; which they read (obviously to make sure you said nice thing) before applying the discount. I picked up my dog and had the following concerns: - My dog had missing hair and a scab near his jaw-line. Note: No one at Loving Pet informed me about my dog's condition even though I checked in a few times during my pet's stay. - My dog was returned to me covered in his own poop which leads me to believe that the Loving Pet staff was not taking my dog out. Note: My dog is crate and house trained. Since picking him up from there, he has not had any issues. -My dog was returned with fleas so I assume their facilities are not treated or sanitized regularly. read more
