I contacted Lowcountry Orthopaedics to schedule an appointment with Dr. Wong regarding imaging for my knee. Before scheduling, I was told my records needed to be reviewed first, which I understood and sent over. I initially misspelled the email address but corrected it shortly after. During my follow-up phone call with Stacey, I was trying to better understand why I was being referred elsewhere instead of scheduling directly for imaging. Unfortunately, the conversation became unnecessarily tense and dismissive. I felt spoken to in a passive-aggressive and condescending manner while asking questions about the process. I understand medical offices are busy and stressful environments, but professionalism and patience matter, especially when patients are already confused or dealing with health concerns. People make mistakes, ask questions, and need clarification. The way staff communicate can greatly impact someone's experience. I hope the practice takes patient communication seriously moving forward, because no patient should leave a call feeling belittled for trying to understand their care process. read more

This is my 2nd major injury in which I resorted to getting treatment from Lowcountry Orthopedics. I am now a patient of Dr. Johanesmeyer. His staff is friendly, compassionate, and will go the extra mile to assist you with all of your needs and concerns. After my visit to the emergency room, I made an appointment to see Dr. Johanesmeyer. He saw my X-Rays and we discussed his plan of action has including Ankle repair surgery, fitting me with splints, boots, and physical therapy. I have been prescribed pain medication to hold me over until the surgery. He did advice that due to my multiple broken bones, i will experience arthritis. 3/29 @ 6am I underwent Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) is a type of surgery used to stabilize and heal a broken bones. In my case, I had 6 plus broken bones. 2 weeks later I had my post-op appointment. X-rays were taken and I waited for the doctor. Upon removal of my cast and bandages We discovered extensive swelling along with monstrous looking fracture blisters. I was in total shock. Dr. Johanesmeyer Explained to me what fracture blisters were and how to treat them. He also Explained the Titanium hardware in my foot ( I nearly fainted). He went over the process of the surgery along with the incisions he made around the fracture blisters and why. My stitches are neat, and the incisions were all in straight lines. I must say he did a wonderful job. Dr.Johanesmeyer advised me to return in a week to see if the swelling goes down enough to remove the stitches and fit me for a stabilizing boot. He also provided me with pain medication and Gabapentin for my burning, tingling, ice picks, and cold nerve pain. 1.) Office Staff : 5 2.) Location: 5 3.) I am looking forward to recovering from this injury and getting on with the rest of my life through Dr.Johanesmeyer treatment plan. I've been seeing Dr. Jackwhich and Justin for several months with an issue. I found this group after going to a few other doctors and not getting any relief. Dr. J and his staff listened to my concerns, took the time to get a thorough background, and finally figured out what was going on. Now I've had 2 surgeries and several appointments before, during, and after and they've always been above and beyond the call of duty. The entire staff from the doctors down to the young lady working to check patients in have been the best. I can't say enough about their level of professionalism and care. My husband has been seeing Dr. Jaskwitch for some time now about his knee. We've been pleased with the care and expertise that Dr. J has shown to my husband for the past couple of years. I saw Dr. J for Achilles tendinitis a couple of years ago, and he was very helpful and I felt confident in his care. Needless to say, I have no more issues. my surgeon here ignored multiple messages of extreme pain due to a decision he made, my medical records were inaccurate leaving out details that were clearly on radiology reports from scans and leaving said issues untreated and ignored. I've never seen a doctor that lies about their patients condition just because it's a workers comp case, but they got 'em here. I'm glad other doctors that actually care for their patients exist as I am getting proper good treatment finally with a different facility and doctor. would not recommend this facility. after being forced to be treated here for 2 years through workers comp, absolutely do not recommend read more

The staff is very polite and willing to help with any questions that you might have. I have been going to LowCountry Ortho for 5 years. (Pain Management, Knee Surgery, Hand Surgery, Injections) The doctors are very nice and pretty knowledgeable. Unfortunately, the injections sometimes worked as they were suppose to. I had to update the docs when I should be getting an Xray or MRI. Here is my major problem, I was on a Pain Management contract for 2 years. I never missed an appointment, drug screen, etc. In December 2019, I was out of town working and the office called for me to come in for a medication count. The assistant said I had until the end of the day. Impossible! I told her I could come in the following Monday upon my return and I was instructed I could not. I called that Monday to see if I can still come in and was in instructed NO. Dr. Merrell than discontinued my contract saying I did not come in for a urine screen. I explained to him what is assistant told me on the phone. He showed me the notes and it said I refused to come in for a urine screen. The assistant lied to the doctor and because of that, I was taken off my pain management. Dr. Merrell on the advise of doctors never take a patient off of a pain medication without tapering off the medicine. His assistant has lied to Dr. Merrell at least three times on my chart and doctor will not change the chart. BEWARE! read more

Horrible schedulers and front staff. Scheduled injections a week ago and spoke to the scheduler twice and she said I just needed a driver. Took the day off and got there via Uber and was told that doesn't count and I would need someone to be with me afterwards for the first few hours. Front staff did nothing to help, except tell me that I should reschedule for another day. read more

The only reason I am giving a 3 is because Dr''s jackowitz and PA Justin Ramey are AMAZING!!!!! However the front staff and finance people is another story. My daughter a minor had to get a MRI and I told them I had met my deductible and out of pocket so it would be covered percent. They said since it not showing in the computer I had to pay it up front. I said fine even though it was over 600.00. months later I get a call saying I was getting a refund. It took weeks to get the check and when I finally got it....it was in my MINOR CHILDS NAME. Instead of calling them and asking them to put it in my name the sponsor who pays the bill, it was a good thing my daughter had her own checking account so I just deposited it into her checking account and transferred it. When I called about 3 weeks after they said I was getting the refund she told me still hadn't been done yet and they have six to eight weeks to send it. Only to find out that's a lie state of South Carolina law says they have only 30 days to get you a refund on medical refunds. And while I still will go there because the doctors are amazing and know what they're doing I hope I never have to deal with the finance department again! read more

And surgery is the last option when it comes to your treatment unless it is necessary. I had a full left Rotator Cuff tear and it was repaired by Dr. David Jaskwhich. I was told I couldn't get my pain meds anymore because I had 2 strokes against me. On one occasion for taken a medication that was prescribed for me, and the other wasn't explained. I felt I was being treated like some drug addict off the street. And there phone calls were belittling, and condescending. You take a person who has had 31 operations needs pain meds just to get by each day and throw them out of the program without weaning them off the opiods!! That's almost as dangerous as taking to many. Needless to say I wouldn't recommend there pain management program to anyone. And now I'm left to fight the pain on my own!!! read more

Amatuer athletes and weekend warriors accumulate damage sometimes, especially if they don't allow time for proper markups and rest. At 53 I had an achilles repair done and about 2 1/2 weeks after my outlook is positive. I couldnt tolerate to cast, so I was put in an air cast and so far so good. The feont end staff, the assistants and techs are friendly and take car of business while remembering the patient is a person, too. Highest recommendations. read more

I have been so grateful for the physicians and staff at Lowcountry Ortho. I've had a number of injuries over the last 20 years, and each time have been given time to ask questions about options for treatment, and have had problems resolved, with surgery as the last option - they don't rush you into surgery. The staff is both professional and friendly, and they have a sign in the waiting room that says, "If you haven't been seen within 15 minutes of arriving, please let us know."
