Cute little store and they are expanding into the barber shop next door. I would have purchased yarn but there was a class going on when I left. A little hard to find but just go into the parking lot and look for the yarn in the side window. Recently took a crochet class at Low Country Shrimp and Knits. The class was advertised as beginner crochet class to make a washcloth. My class was 6 people all new to crochet and knitting except me (I'm a knitter). From the class description: "You will learn the basics of Crochet with instructor XXX to make a sweet washcloth. This will teach you how to read a pattern, how to single and double crochet. You will be hooked after the first lesson! Included in the class: pattern, yarn, and hook." We were given our choice of yarn color but the yarn didn't have any label on it and there was no explanation on how to match yarn to hook size. I asked what yarn we were using and was told "cotton" but no further information. We were also supplied with a hook and a stitch marker. We were not given a pattern, or taught how to read a crochet pattern and did not learn double crochet. We were taught the chain stitch and how to single crochet. I'm not convinced we were taught correctly how to single crochet or maybe it was just me. I came home and watched a video and have since taught myself. Knowing what I know now, I know I was not taught two vital steps in the single crochet process. Also, we were not taught how to finish the washcloth. From what I saw, no other person in the class of six learned to crochet that day. IMO, two hours was quite ambitious to learn how to crochet a washcloth. For my $75 I do not think the class was a good value at all. I appreciate the instructors time and she was very nice. The shop is definitely worth visiting . If you take a class, be sure you are clear on what you are getting. read more

This is a new shop in Old Town Bluffton. A small shop that packs so much into its walls. Tracy, the owner carries fabulous yarns ( Rowan, The Fibre Company, Berroco, etc) She also has a delicious line of locally hand painted yarns...Maggie Loves Yarn. I've never seen a shop of her size have so many classes to choose from. Tracy is gracious, fun to get to know , and will try to order for you whatever you need. The shop is warm, welcoming, with always a fun group sitting at the tables enjoying each other's company. I can't say enough about this shop....she is going to grow and grow and grow... read more

I was on vacation in Hilton head and found myself in a irreparable knitting mess! I called Tracy and she told me to come on in and she would help me out. She spent a considerable amount of time repairing my mistake. She was so kind and helpful! I even got to meet some other lovely ladies knitting in the shop. What a wonderful experience. She saved my sanity with my knitting project and restored my faith in humanity! There are good, kind people out there!! Thank you, Tracy! We were in the area visiting friends. We were checking out different shops and when we stopped in to this shop, it was a mood. The shop is so cute. And has such quality yarn in great colors. Signed up for an introductory knitting class. Was ok, but the owner (Tracy) berated an elderly woman who was in the class for bringing her own needles and yarn and bullied her into buying her items for the class from the shop. Told her she had to. This was not stated as a requirement anywhere when registering for the class. Was really off-putting. read more

LCSK is an awesome new addition. We have been vacationing in the area for years and Tracy is a breath of fresh air. She carries a great selection but the local hand-dyed yarn is amazing!
