I love this place! I am not a big bar goer and I tend to avoid Mill Ave, especially on the weekends. However, my friends wanted to go out last night (Friday). I had been to Low Key one other time but as a DD so I wasn't doing much besides drinking my water and waiting for my group to say it was time to go. We stopped into Low Key per my request. I just love the ambiance. It's not crazy, it's cozy, and everyone is just having a good time! The drinks are pretty standard in price. I ordered two gin tonics and paid $17 something with tip which I thought was fair. The drinks were really good, next time I want whatever comes in that big fish bowl. :) I think they had karaoke while we were here? We didn't go down to the stage because it was pretty packed... we stayed up by the bar and sang our own version of the songs, ha! We're going to become frequent fliers here! I just love that it's not overwhelming. Perfect for someone who doesn't love the intense bar scene. read more

My coworkers and I just wanted to enjoy our last night at Tempe, Arizona so we decided to go to this place. A coworker and I got there first to reserve a table. The man at the door requested our IDs (everything seem normal at this time). I gave him my ID and he was starring at the front of it for a long time. I told him "Sir, my birthdate is on the back" . he was extremely rude with his facial expressions and responded "I know, I am not stupid I see these types of IDs all the time". (I had forgotten my State ID so I gave him my military ID). When we got inside the place was empty so we decided to leave and text everyone else a new location. Absolutely furious, I booked our reservations 2 weeks in advanced online. I call the day before, twice, leave a voicemail, as well as email them, the next day, still no response and no call back. I paid $50 to reserve 2 tables and wanted to make sure that it was confirmed because I never got an email confirmation. We get to the bar the night of, they do not have our tables reserved. They do not offer any consolation for the $50 or refund and do not offer us a seat. 2 tables ended up not coming so we took those tables nobody waited on us I requested two songs and paid them $20 they never played our songs. I am furious and I will never recommend anyone going there again. Do not book a reservation online, they will not send you a confirmation or reserve your table. read more

Not a bad place to visit at all. The entertainment is really fun with the dueling pianos! The talented individuals who play are almost always very in-tune with the crowd and do awesome at the songs requested. The staff here is really attentive and give great suggestions. I have visited several times, but my only complaint was the recent visit on New Years... it kind of sucked to be shoved into the corner for seating, staring at the elevator door with only a half-view of the stage because all other tables had "reserved" signs sitting on them. We left at 11:25pm, and still, 9 tables sat vacant with "reserved" signs. I felt like we could have easily been seated at one of the smaller two-seat tables in that area being as how there were so many vacant. But, when the gal who was waiting our table was REALLY friendly, helpful and attentive, it made a big difference and we both enjoyed the time we spent watching the dueling pianos. The atmosphere here is very pleasant compared to other bars in the area. It really is "low key" and we enjoyed that kind of crowd, because we really were not trying to get hammered & rowdy. It was a great crowd and not at all overpacked. The lighting was better than too dark to see and the sound system was PERFECT in the aspect that you could clearly hear the music & get involved, but you also don't have to yell to talk to the person (or hear them) sitting next to you. We also really enjoyed the fun "party favors" that were complimentary on the tables for celebrating the New Year... things like that make me feel more obliged to spend my time & money at a place that also appreciates their customers. Only bigger complaint I have was the bathroom... yikes! That was entirely gross. And I felt contaminated leaving the bathroom, even after washing my hands. Someone seriously needs to put some TLC into that area! But overall, besides a bunch of vacant tables reserved for no one & a gross bathroom, everything else was very enjoyable. This was not my first visit, and I will definitely go back for another fun evening out. One of the much better places on Mill! ...minus the cover charge. I totally understand charging a cover on New Years, but I would not pay a cover any other night. Not when I am having to pay for everything else inside. read more

I came here to avoid the chaos that was in the bars opposite the street during the Arizona Football Derby and had an enjoyable time. Good music, drinks aren't too pricey and well beautiful servers. Not too sure what else you could ask for to be honest. read more

Honestly always such a good time. Music is nonstop and of good quality. If you like sugary drinks like AMFs and long islands then this is the place for you because their fishbowls are great. They also have syringe Jell-O shots that are great for pics and taste like kool-aid. read more

Good music, I went there a few days in a row then security refused to accept my id because of normal wear and tear. My id doesn't expire until 2055. I have never seen such little power go to someone's head. Management clearly needs some adjustment. read more

We were the youngest people in this bar by 20 years. Not to put down the elder generation, but it just wasn't the scene we were looking for. On this Wednesday night, there were no dueling pianos, but a 5-ish piece band playing country western while a crowd of people practiced the two step. Or something like that. There wasn't a good place to sit down and talk, and - maybe we were just being hugely lame - but we didn't feel like embarking upon the polka journey, so we decided to leave and go elsewhere. I would have given it more stars if there had actually been dueling pianos...and I assume that sometimes there are...but there weren't that night and it was a huge bummer! read more

My girlfriend and I were having a date night on Mill Ave. We visited two other establishments for food and drinks which were hospitable and accommodating. Since dueling pianos was closed before me and my girlfriend had moved to Phoenix, I thought it would be a good idea to stop in at Low Key Piano Bar. But boy was I wrong. To give some background, I was a huge supporter of Dueling Pianos before they closed down due to lack of business. We decided to visit Low Key Piano bar as I wanted to entertain my girlfriend. As we arrived, there was NO one inside. We gave one of the piano players 5 dollars with a choice of 3 songs to play but he did not know any of them. Any person of musical background or youthful knowledge would know the songs but he said he didn't know any of them so he made fun of us and played his own. Fair enough, my girlfriend and I requested 3 more songs from the other piano player with another monetary donation and he only played 30 seconds of one song we requested.....we also requested Journey "Don't Stop Believing" in which they said..."I die a little bit inside anytime I get requested this song"........Not good customer service if you're getting tipped pretty good money. 4 guys walked into the establishment which was practically empty. They yelled out a song request without donating any money (Elton John) and they played two FULL songs by Elton John. After this happened, I closed out my tab (which our server was great btw) and we immediately left. I asked for the manager by the bouncer at the stairs in which he replied, "I can't ask for the manager right now." I was so distraught at the situation that I came back to Low Key Piano Bar to try and speak to a manager again. The bouncer outside would not let me in and when I asked for the manager he pointed me to another bouncer who was smoking cigarettes next to him. I explained the situation and told him I would not come to the bar again even after I supported them so much from the beginning. He told me I was being unruly and had too much to drink?! C'mon give me a break man. He just wanted me out of his face. When I asked him for his name he would not provide it to me. So, to sum it up. This establishment will take your support (and dollars) and will not care to make you happy or satisfied. I will continue to support other establishments around this bar but will never EVER come back as it is obvious they do not want my business....which I have PLENTY to give. I tried to call the establishment at least 9 times to rectify the situation but they did not answer. I have a feeling this place will not last very long, much like it's predecessor, because of it's customer service. I've loved this place forever and have been there since I've started college (a Veteran and started at 23, 26 now), but I'm not sure if there is new security right now due to COVID or what, but this is my story. My friends (Five of them) came and sat at a booth before I showed up. They said that they had people showing up and we wanted to sit next to them (myself and two others). They were told ok. When we walk in we said that, but we were told "we were told about you guys absolutely not." We abide by their rules and sit the three of us to ourselves. We don't get a server for the next 10-15 min so I go to the bar to get waters. Bartender didn't give a damn and yells to one of the gentlemen from the back to get it so he does so I pay him $5. I return to my table and a security guard comes and accuses me of moving tables even after I asked to move towards my friends (we didn't move, I was at the bar getting water). It eventually was proven wrong that it wasn't me (mistaken face of a black man) so the guy gave a terrible apology. I walked out after to prevent more random nonsense. So, I notice how your staff would like to treat a law abiding member. Also if you're one of those security guards I'm talking about that were working on the night of Oct 8th and know what I'm talking about, you can come see me yourselves too. I wish I had been a this bar on one of those great nights all the five star people wrote about! It was awful... When we walked in it sounded like a bad karaoke night! Whomever is in charge of sound for the place needs to be replaced. the acoustics are difficult in this venue as its multi leveled but really at one point all I could hear was bass drum, snare drum and mumbled singing. And yes apparently drums is part of their dueling piano line up - who knew? I ordered a Cape Cod with extra lime and my waitress came back and said they were all out of Cape Cod... I asked her how they were out of Vodka and Cranberry juice? I guess the bartender is only familiar with cheap college beer and no mixed drinks that don't include redbull or sex in the name. I suggest the bartender needs replacing as well. I finally did get my drink which tasted like straight cranberry juice. we stayed about an hour but just couldn't take it anymore. Pros and cons of this piano bar since new ownership. Pros: The interior in the lighting is really nice compared to the old ownership. Sound isn't bad either. On weekends they have an entire band. The crowd is energetic which adds to the fun. Cons: takes 15+ minutes to get a beer from an already substandard list. They play A LOT crappy top 40 music now, and they tend to rush through the good "classic" songs. To get your song played takes at least 15 or $20 now. overall it's a cool venue that I would highly encourage you to check out at least once and form your own opinion. Great place to take folks from out of town, or even a second or third date. read more

I celebrated my birthday here in April. It was very fun and upbeat. A little slow when we first arrived but it was quite early We walked over right after dinner which was a little before 9pm. Once the crowd grew and the song requests started going in the energy picked up. The guys working the pianos are impressively multi talented.. They not only play numerous instruments but they also have fantastic singing (and sometimes rapping) voices and they double as comedians keeping the crowd entertained. Great fun place to spend a birthday! Some advice though, only tell them it's your birthday if you want to do the dirty hokey pokey on stage!!! read more

Rude management. Had a small part on the corner of my ID that was peeling. Was accused of tampering with it, denied access. I'm 26 years old..... Obvious it isn't a fake. Just the film started peeling from putting it in and out of my wallet over the past 10 years. Offered multiple other forms of ID. Was not accepted, but also the staff was extremely rude about it. This is definitely a fun bar with great live music. I came on a Tuesday night, so there wasn't a whole lot going on. Nonetheless, there was still a small crowd near the stage, and they were really enthusiastic. Others, including my party, sit a little further just chilling and enjoying the atmosphere. I hear it gets really packed though on weekends. Luckily, there is another bar closer to the entrance to help serve. This way, not everyone has to go down and crowd around the bar near the stage. Otherwise, on relatively slow nights, the servers are really nice and stop by to check on customers and help out if there is anything we need. They should put a sign up that says "30's and older bar" because they definitely discriminate against anyone still in their mid-late 20's (i.e. they either do not let them in OR once the place starts to get busy they throw them out because "they have the right to refuse service"). read more

First off the staff is the best staff I've ever met hands down!! My family owns 4 bars and the service here is A+ best bartender ever katlynd and the bar manager has the biggest heart ever I'm 28 with a knee transplant and they normally do not except barstools at the bar but after one east Convo she did all she needed so I was comfortable!! Well, aside from the fact that Steve didn't see a problem with only giving shots to drunk girls as a problem- I've never had an issue with Low Key. However, my experience this evening was disheartening. I would expect any establishment in Tempe to be honorable and fair when it comes to their patrons. When I brought up the fact that a well deserving gentleman did not receive his Jell-O shot as promised , I was made into the "drunk". After I turned 25, a Saturday night on Mill lost a lot of its luster and over the (many) years we have rarely frequented on the weekends, but this place was SO FUN! We had a huge group for my friend's birthday, and one of the ladies suggested we hit this place up. The musicians were incredibly talented and engaging, the atmosphere was laid back, yet had a lot of energy, and the drinks were great. I can't remember a night out in recent memory where I had so much fun and laughed so hard. A great place for people of all ages who love being a part of great live music. We had a blast here! We had a newer waitress (forgot her name:( ) and she was amazing! The Long Island ice teas that were on special were definitely worth the $7! So cheap and so good!
