I wanted to do something different for my 30th birthday this June, and since I love singing, karaoke felt like the perfect way to celebrate! I booked the Industrial Suite at YZ's Karaoke Café and later upgraded to the VIP room after our time was up. Both rooms were super spacious, which was great since I had a group of friends with me. Because it was my birthday, they even sprayed a shot of sake in my mouth (lol)--a fun and unexpected bonus that definitely kicked the night up a notch. I didn't eat much since I was busy belting out songs and sipping drinks, but I did try the dry-rub chicken wings and they were surprisingly good! The karaoke machine took a little getting used to, but once I figured it out, it was game on. My friends and I had an absolute blast. It ended up being such a special and memorable birthday, and I'd 100% come back for another fun night of karaoke. Went here last week for a friend's birthday and had a blast! We had a private room that was decked out with a plush wrap around couch, large screen TV, and kiosk to select songs. The room came with two mikes and we could be as loud and fun as we wanted! For drinks and food they have a QR code you can scan and a server will come to you. It is an easy system as you can keep singing and enjoying yourself without having to go to the bar. But, they have this option as well! Only suggestion would be to add a couple of additional bathrooms somewhere as there is just one of each. Compared to the size of the place I think there should be at least four or more. read more

YZ's karaoke was a huge hit. I didn't know what to expect, but the karaoke room we rented comfortably fit eight people and once people settled in and got over the karaoke nerves it was a blast. The service was great. There wasn't a massive crowd. Drinks and food were easy to get, and everyone who worked there was friendly. Around 10 o'clock, it becomes a nightclub, but you can still rent the rooms and keep singing if you want. The karaoke rooms were cute. One microphone died, but they fixed it immediately. The best part was that for tons of the music, they played the original music videos, which was absolutely amazing for 90s hits you haven't heard in forever. It gave you that hit of nostalgia with the music videos. Super fun! I would definitely go back again with a group and try out the different themed rooms. We had the industrial room, and it was fun with the theming. I'm curious to see what the others look like. The food we all ordered very basic appetizer stuff- the edamame was good. People seemed to enjoy the popcorn chicken, and they had tons of different beers--many Korean--since the place is a Korean karaoke bar. A lot of the drinks and food have Korean ties. Dipping sauce is too sweet. - kimchi fried rice 3/5: not bad. Kimchi flavor is tasty. Super salty and too soft sausage bits (would be better if cut up smaller and pan fried). - skewer sausage 1/5: texture is so rough like cardboard and taste is off - malatang 3/5: mild/moderate mala numbing spice and okay soup flavor. It's the best the valley offers for Asian karaoke...since this is really the ONLY place for Asian karaoke. It's located in a strip mall, but there's more than meets the eye. Definitely a place to try outside the typical bar scene, or if you want a more intimate karaoke experience. Make a reservation via DM on Instagram (@yz_karaoke_cafe) or call 4803067779. They offer medium (~10 ppl), large (~20 ppl), and VIP rooms (+20 ppl w private bathroom) - check w them for pricing. Main area has a full bar, tables and booths, and on weekends they usually have a DJ to keep the atmosphere lively. Check-in at the bar, and they'll prepare your room (usually 10-15 min). In medium rooms, we're usually all sitting, with 1-2 people dancing around. Large room is def less cramped (about twice the size of medium room). One slow night, they gave us the VIP room, which was super spacious and great for dancing around. When leaving, stop by the bar to check out so they stop the clock. Food is nothing to write home about, but we usually snack on bites while our room is being prepped, and bring leftovers in after the room is ready. Our go-tos are popcorn chicken, tteokbokki, kimchi fried rice, and beef skewers (although these have been a bit chewy for our molars at times). They provide water and cups. Song selection is fine, and staff will give a short tutorial on how to use the song selection machine (touchscreen, can queue songs). They have pop, rap, country, oldies, etc. for all tastes. The booths are kinda worn and cracked, but the two mics are always charged (complete with little covers), and the sound system is just fine. Overall, 3.5 for the space, food, and karaoke. We started in the Marilyn Monroe room and were having such a great time that we asked to stay longer--they were kind enough to move us to the Japanese Suite, which I actually preferred out of the two. They had a great music selection, and a lot of the songs play with music videos and lyrics on screen, which made it even more entertaining. Everything was reasonably priced--the rooms, drinks, and food. We ordered the garlic edamame, gyoza, vegan udon stir fry, kimchi fried rice, and the munchie fries. Everything was delicious, and I'd definitely order most of those again. The staff were friendly and helpful. We were looking for a Karaoke place that had private rooms and I happen to come across this place! Now coming from Hawaii, we're always looking for a good karaoke place..and let's just say it worth coming back! Here's the details of our night there: Reservation: made my reservation about two week in advance via IG and the reply back was fast. Time was for 6-9pm on a Friday night. Arrived early but cafe wasn't open until after 6 so that was a bummer. But phoebe ran and got us to our room and was super sweet. I would definitely recommend 6:30 to book to give her time to get in and the kitchen to fire up. We didn't wait too long. Room/rate/taxes and service fees: a credit card is needed to hold the room. $38/hr for Space Room Fits up to 25 (small people) additional fees were $20 service fee and $10 tax. We comfortably sat 15 but had pull up extra seating. Karaoke system: Totally forgot to get a picture of the system but... Touch screen. They do have an option for you to use an iPad and sign into your YouTube account (another reason for no service fee if I have to use my own account). From the tablet you would just search the karaoke songs like you would from home using sing king, Hawaiian kine karaoke or Karafun. Separate tabs: Yes I said separate tabs! You simply go to the bar and give them your name and a card to keep your tab open or you can just order what you desire and they'll bring it to the room. Because of having to go out and order I feel the service fee shouldn't be included because of that. Now if they came to the room and took orders I'd happily give that and leave a tip. In Hawaii we would order for the room and either pay the waitress then and tip her then or have one tab open. Food: we ordered the Edamame which says cold dish but they were hot... little sad about that. Popcorn chicken, a little dry and over cooked but good flavor. Sweet potato fries, yummy. My friends ordered, the fried calamari, popcorn shrimp, munchie fries (little soggy) but good. Restrooms: Male/Female. One stall each. Pretty clean. I had a good time here. The food is good, downside is you have to go outside and wait in line to order but they bring it to you which is nice. They have a great variety of songs we sang Beyoncé, Eminem, Kpop, and one of our friends sang a famous Bollywood song! Very fun experience, another downside was the room was pretty crowded and we had less than 20 people. Honest review! The place is very nice overall but the extra fees they tack on, no air conditioning in the rooms and the service could be better. The karaoke room is nice but there was no central air. They had a box fan in the room but with 8 people in the room it gets hot pretty quickly. Now the fees! They claim it is $28.oo per hour but then they tack on a room fee $7.50 for no reason and then they tack a 18% MUSIC fee off the bill and request tip! The service to get drinks from your room was sparingly and the drinks were very weak. Warning! Check your bill before you leave! They added an additional $35.00 to our bill that needed to be removed. Honestly, I don't think there was any alcohol in these drinks at all. We are not coming back. In two hours our group of 8 had a bill of $346.00 with tax, music fee, room fee and tip! read more

Since my family was visiting from out of town, we decided to rent out a private room and enjoy some Karaoke. Oh what fun. You can make reservations via Instagram and they are super responsive and nice. Rates are hourly and pretty affordable with three different room sizes to choose from. They have these really cool rooms and provide 2 microphones along with two covers to put over the mics. They explain how the karaoke machine works which offers a wide variety of song selections. There is a button available that you press when you need any type of service such as food and drink orders or if you need any assistance with the karaoke machine. We ordered the peach mojito, strawberry mojio and melon soju.. all were delicious drinks. We also ordered the crispy wings which were delicious. I enjoyed myself so much that I failed to take any picsI only took videos. Warning. You may think an hour or two hours is enough but it goes by really fast. We were planning to only do an hour and half and then were able to add some additional time and that still was not enough! I can't wait to do this again. We split the bills at the end, the server was very nice helping. We had so much fun and their service was amazing, the girl server with the bob hair taught us how to use the system and it has YouTube in the system. Very easy to use! You know they are true friends when they are not having a good time and yet, support your drunken end. Such was the second time we came to YZ's Karaoke. Having been here a few weeks ago, we loved the layout of the room, atmosphere, and great karaoke equipment. Its a bit pricy @ 48.00 bucks an hour but the clean rooms, supplied devices, and videos were amazing. However upon our return a few weeks later, the system changed making for a blah experience. We were bummed out as you can see from some of the photos. Was not the same. Only the pricing remained. Made for us having a quick exit not even finishing our allotted paid time! From Asian ballads to American bangers, this place has an extensive catalog of songs you can choose and sing. Want booze? They got it! Shrimp crackers and peanuts are offered as snacks. I love this place! They have independent rooms that they charge by the hour, they also require a one drink minimum per person. Not a big deal lol. The rooms have two mics, their little system thing and a tv, the song selection on the app is pretty limited but if you switch over to New Pipe it's like YouTube and you could do any song. They are open pretty late so it's perfect for a post work hang too. I recommend calling ahead to see if they have rooms open because they don't have a lot of them so they fill up fast. Small rooms that you can reserve with a large TV and fancy krakow machine. They give you microphone covers, for your safety. The themed rooms are gorgeous and feature a large TV so you can read the lyrics. We went to celebrate a birthday and we had the best time. It was not hard to find English music. They told us they would come get us when our time was up and when we came out to check because we were a few minutes later than we were told the next reservation was and they charged us and we're extremely rude when we told them what the previous server told us. Might be the only place in AZ to do Asian style karaoke, highly recommend for a fun night with friends! 3 stars though because the song selection is really difficult to navigate and not user friendly/intuitive. I suggest putting up a little guide by the control panel...the staff quickly explained how to use it in the beginning but it was hard to remember. Also, song selection not that wide, but decent amount of Chinese and Korean songs. Japanese and English there are less of! The idea of this place is amazing I really love the ideas of private karaoke rooms at an affordable price where you don't have to pay per person like other karaoke rooms around phoenix. But I do have some takeaways from hosting my bday here in February. I got the space room and I had over 10 guests so it was $38/hr. I assumed for getting a private room there would be some wait staff that would check in on our room/party from time to time to allow us to take advantage of the room for the hourly rate we were paying for, but this was not the case. We had to constantly leave the room to order drinks and food which since it was a busy Friday night each time took about 15-20 mins. This part sucked because instead of singing songs and having fun sometimes my friends and I had missed out in order to wait for drinks or food. The night I went to YZs there was another party with my same name so when we ordered the food my friends and I were saying we were in the space room but our food orders went to the wrong room 3 TIMES! Then they were trying to charge my husband twice for the one order of gyoza he never received and was taken to the wrong room. I get mistakes happen and I wish the other room would've admitted it wasn't their orders but this wasn't the case. I had the room for 3 hours and the time flew by because I was so stressed about my friends getting their correct food and going out to get drinks. The popcorn chicken was really good and so was the gyoza but the stress from not getting it the first time around and then the wait staff saying they gave it to us but didn't and trying to charge my husband twice really left a sour taste in my mouth. I'd rather pay more at a place where we can BYOB so we don't have to worry about leaving the room we're paying for to wait in a line for 15-20 mins per guest. It was my birthday so I was so stressed the entire time it kind of was disheartening. Also the space room said up to 25 people can fit in there I had 11 and I wouldn't recommend more than that. I wouldn't come back unless on a slow night like a week day this experience was way too stressful for me they need more staff for the volume of customers they come in. Some staff to take orders from the rooms I would say would be helpful, I noticed a couple were standing around the bar. Also, a better system for when food is ordered to go to the right rooms. Even if they gave us a buzzer and then had us go back up to get it when it buzzed to be ready that would've been more efficient. I really wanted to have an amazing birthday night but this was not it. My first time here (this past Friday night) and I really did enjoy my experience here. The place was super cool with this club like atmosphere. It was dark yet they had a light up lights. When we got there, an employee was very kind enough to show us how the karaoke system worked and demonstrated so we can navigate through the song choices. We appreciate it that. We ordered some drinks and even though they did take a little while to get, I highly recommend getting the piña colada slush. The drinks were good little more of the pricey edge; however I say it's worth it for the fun night. I can see myself coming again base on this wonderful experience I encountered. I keep forgetting I've been here before - maybe that's indicative of the karaoke experience. Amidst the Korean BBQ and the grocery store in the plaza lies this place. There's two systems - one with the dated number punch in from the books, and another KTV-like system that's predominantly Asian songs. If you're predominantly looking for English songs it might be a struggle - you largely search by initials, not spellings, and oftentimes you'll have result pages with largely hanja or kanji dominating the screen. The most you can narrow down is Foreign or Foreign Band. Some staples will have everything while other classics may leave you hanging with one song from an unknown album. The rooms are at a flat rate per hour independent of number of people, but the rate goes down a bit if you order food/drink with them. Must have been a weird Saturday, because we wanted soju yet all they had left was grape. Tasted like a Jolly Rancher, but not my speed. The sound system itself was decent, and if you have enough Chinese/Korean/Japanese speaking friends to take advantage of the catalogue, I say go for it. We arrived on time for our appointment of 8pm however, we waited for almost 20 mins to be brought to our room for 6 people. People were nice but they may be understaffed? Music options - not enough latest song options. There were many 2000's and early 2010's songs but not so much of 2020's English songs. We also noticed many Chinese song options. We stayed for almost 3 hours and the bill was about $90 for six people (no food). Not too bad I suppose. read more
