Went with small group- we all felt like it wasn't great, however a friend said it's usually better. The performers are a bit pompous. They don't play requested songs unless you pay a lot ($100 it is played next, $20 it is played fairly soon, $5 for back of the line, $1 it won't be played). None of our songs were played. The performances were not great. Songs tonight were not good but had a group of old ladies paying for strange songs. The drinks are overpriced - the 40 ounce shareable drink is $25 and completely filled with ice, truly a 12-16 ounce drink. Most seats can not see the stage, there is a large pole right in front of the stage obstructing most of the views. Wouldn't go unless your bored and looking for something new. read more

I have been coming to Low Key for four years. Recently, the establishment has gone so downhill. If I could give zero stars I would. The security here is on a POWER TRIP. They asked our friend how much he had to drink (he was not stumbling, being rude, or slurring his words) and he said "a couple". THEY DENIED HIM. It was my first time there. I do not go out much because of my work dedication and definitely not a socially dense place like Low Key during COVID. It is not my thing. However, I adapted and requested a song, Born In The USA by Bruce Springsteen after tipping Ben Murphy $5.00. The pianist preceded to lecture my table that it was a racist song and he would not sing it, but he kept the tip! It is not a racist song. It is a very patriotic song and is a statement about the perceptions of the Vietnam war. It was intended as a statement of how the Vietnamese were discriminated against back then. Millenials seem to be ultrasensitive to every little thing they feel is racist even though it is not racist. Just because a bunch of Trump fans played this at protests does not make it racist! Oh my shiitake I thought I reviewed this place a while back - I guess not! Well a piano bar is a welcomed addition to Mill since it adds variety. It's not just another bar, there is live music and you can make requests. Personally, I prefer classic jazz like Dean Martin, Peggy Lee, Frank Sinatra (etc) but most requests are modern songs of any genre from Creed to NSYNC which is not my jam but that is the nature of requests - so you have been warned! By the way the pianists appreciate cash tips. The requests can be made on paper slips given to you by the waitresses, sometimes there are extra slips at your table. For drinks I usually get the Long Island Iced Tea in the Fishbowl which is $7 and enough for two people. Last time my friend ordered the Peach Tea Fishbowl for $16 but it was waaay tooo sweet! We could barely taste any of the Peach Schnapps. I'll be sticking to the Long Island Fishbowl. read more

While i love a good piano bar, i wasn't surprised to see all the reviews that confirm I'm not the only one that thinks this place has poor management. First, upon entering the security guards/bouncers were extremely rude and aggressive towards us thinking one person in our group appeared drunk because he dropped his license when handing it to them. And their way of trying to verify was by taking his license and aggressively throwing it on the ground and telling him to pick it up. It was bizarre and of course he "passed" their stupid test. Next the waitresses here seem as though they are college kids with rude attitudes... i would avoid this place which is sad because it has so much potential. read more

Not LGBTQ friendly in my opinion! I have been here several times with different people and always loved it and tonight took my brother and his boyfriend who are visiting from NYC. I hyped the place up to them for months! A little over an hour after we'd been there, my brother and I walked to the bathroom and a security guard followed us. The guard waited outside the bathroom for my brother and when he came out said he and another witness had heard him throwing up (he did not!) and the guard hauled him out of the place with his hands behind his back. My brother and his boyfriend spoke to the manager who just kept restating that that's their policy and it's a private establishment and they can do it however they see fit. On a night on Mill, my friends and I decided to check out this bar because we have never been to a piano bar before. We didn't really know what to expect, but was very happy that we came. There is a $5 cover, but it's free for students (with student ID's)! When we entered the bar, it was low-lit, blue, and modern. There were two people playing the piano and singing, and a server attended us as soon as we sat down. We were able to request songs by filling out a simple request form and placing it on a piano on the stage with a tip. The pianists/singers were playing music constantly, and knew many songs, a lot of them classics, including songs by Beatles and Michael Jackson. They also played some modern songs, including those by alternative and rock artists. What I liked the most about the Low Key Dueling Piano Bar was that the customers were singing, dancing, and interacting with the stage. The noise level was loud, but it's a piano bar, after all. The drinks were reasonably priced, and the servers were very attentive and polite throughout. I would highly recommend checking out this place - it's definitely different from the other bars that I have been to, and I love it. It's super fun - I had a great time! On another note, the stairs leading down to the entrance look like piano keys. It's a great spot for a picture :) read more

We visited this establishment on Saturday, 6/23/2018 from 7:00-9:45 PM. We were part of a group and initially enjoyed our time. This place is geared for those 21-35 years of age. The wait staff was friendly, efficient and accurate. The place was also clean and orderly. The entertainment was OK. They had sufficient seating, excellent audio/visual gear and a full bar. The menu for drinks was somewhat limited, and I understand that completely. After watching enough, "Bar Rescue" episodes, I "get" having a limited menu. We were enjoying the evening until the second set of piano players took the stage, and a middle-aged guy got creepy. It was weird. I understand, "playing to the audience" but some of the things this guy said were creepy. I'm a Former Active Duty U.S. Marine and have done things only God through His Son Jesus Christ may forgive. The language the short brown/red haired guy with the goatee wearing the blue "Slammed Tavern" t-shirt spoke was creepy. He said the "F-word" multiple times and the other guy, the younger guy, asked for the, "favorite sexual position during sex" of the young lady sitting next to him. (She was turning 21 that night and was there to start the night). For me and my friends, this was VERY awkward... For reference, I am a SINNER! I need Jesus Christ to make it to Heaven! I try to be a good Catholic! However, this experience really chapped my @ss! Imagine taking a few decent friends or a business group, to a fun place, and then get near-porn action. Awesome live music, cheap drinks, and the most entertaining people watching experience in Tempe! This place is a must see on Mill Ave. I'm sorry I didn't check it out sooner! The low down on Low Key: NO cover, $7 fish bowl drinks-they will get u twisted, so watch out. It gets crowded, but it's actually easy to find seats, u may just have to scope it out for a couple of minutes. The singers are craaaaazy talented and know how to play every instrument--piano, drums, guitar. I mean, I was in awe! Requests can be made and the best tippers are given precedent. Bring about $20 cash if you want a couple of songs played. Bathrooms are clean. Bartenders were great and our server was attentive and checked on us multiple times. We noticed it was a mix of people between age 21-35. Mostly of the former. Some douchey people will be there, but their security staff is on top of it and they're quite amusing from afar. Very disappointed in the service! No one cleaned off the tables of empty classes and bottles. It's already difficult enough to get a table! But give up on getting a clean one. However, low key is the only place you can go out too, drink and enjoy some live entertainment! The piano players do a good job in getting everyone involved and having a good time! (Even from their seats) Going out during covid with all the rules is tough... but my night at at low key has been one of the best "going out" experiences I've had all year. The performers will take song requests from the crowd which makes it even more fun. Only thing to beware of is the fact that there are some pretty rowdy people in there so you're bound to get a little dirty ;) my friends and I were squirted with some syringe shots which we laughed off as hilarious (especially since it looked like blood and it was Halloween weekend). Been here a few times with friends and it's defiantly a fun night club/bar. Has live entertainment. It's very spacious with tables and booths. Clean bathroom and even a cute little photo booth. Has a very 90s vibe to it. I ordered the Long Island in a fishbowl ($7) and the Jel-low Syringe Shot ($5). My roommate ordered the Make Your Own Mul e ($9) and the Mega Mule ($50 serves 4-6 people). They have round booths where there's a tv monitor on the wall to watch the performances! You can write down a song request for the piano players and singers to sing. The only down side was that I requested a Happy Birthday song for my roommate twice. I even tipped $5 the second time. They never played my song and I was there waiting for an hour. I also wanted to take the fishbowl home even though it was empty and I thought it wasn't bad because it was plastic but security didn't let me take it. Overall it's a cool place. It is her graduation night from ASU, and we all wanted to celebrate, but for some reason, they won't let her in because they say she is too drunk to walk down the stairs. She is NOT drunk!!! And where the hell is the ADA elevator if stairs are an issue? She was not stumbling like they claimed. Did it ever occur to them that maybe she has a disability with her legs?
