We ordered a survey on a property we we buying and was quoted an estimate price of $1200.00 plus tax and if it would be any more it was only be $100.00. Well when they finally finished the survey six weeks later they wanted to charge us more than $700.00 for the whole survey. A more than a 50% increase in price without any explanation. When my agent and myself called the office for an explanation we were met with pure hostility from the person answering the phone. She yelled at us and acted like a child speaking over me while I explained to her what the quote stated. She refused my explanation and as of now the complaint refuses to release the survey to me. After receiving the survey and upon…read morefurther research we determined that a utility easement shown on the survey no longer was valid, but a sewer easement that they did not show on the survey in fact crossed the property in such a location as to significantly lower the value the lot. When I contacted the company about making the correction, which I was prepared to pay for, I was treated very rudely and was told all the reasons they were not responsible. When I suggested they contact the city attorney about the matter so as to get the survey correct the person I spoke with refused to even consider it. As so done who has used a number of surveyors over the years I can assure you this is the only time I have dealt with one who responded in this fashion.

When I asked reasonable questions about the missed timeline and its impact on my project, I was met with hostility rather than customer service. The larger issue was the attitude. Instead of working cooperatively with title companies, attorneys, and other professionals involved in the transaction, there seemed to be a constant need to argue and defend positions rather than provide solutions. I received communications criticizing other parties involved in the process, including the City of Houston, which I found highly unprofessional and irrelevant to completing the work I hired them to perform. When title-related questions arose and additional clarification was needed, I did not receive the level of responsiveness and cooperation I would expect from a professional surveying firm. Rather than addressing concerns and moving the project forward, the engagement was ultimately canceled after I questioned the significant delays. As someone who regularly buys, sells, and develops property, I understand that issues arise and schedules can change. What I do not expect is a surveyor who spends more time debating than delivering, treats legitimate client concerns as a problem, and appears unwilling to work constructively with the other professionals necessary to close a transaction. I ultimately hired another survey company to complete the work. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this firm.
