Attitudes toward EBT card users. This is an immigrate mostly store so why have a dislike for EBT cards. The older cashiers look at you like a low life. The younger cashiers will make their scan machines not able to read card numbers. I have had bad experiences at Hwy 127 and Spring Rd. Stores #3220 and #2625. What little help I get from the EBT card should be a blessing not made to feel less a person. read more

While I'm in the area I need to do a little bit of grocery shopping and this was the closest full grocery store to the hotel. I don't have this brand where I live so I was intrigued to see how different it might be from the grocery stores I am used to shopping at. It is conveniently located to the university nearby and on a main strip with lots of other stores. I was impressed by a unique item in the produce section where they are growing herbs and you can snip them and put them right in a bag. I didn't see any grow lights so I'm going to have to assume these plants were grown elsewhere and then just placed in this mini garden area but it is a cute idea. I also noticed that all of the shelving is pretty low. I don't think there were any shelves taller than maybe 5 feet because I could see from one end the store to the other. It's a pretty nice grocery store and the staff is also particularly very friendly. read more

I love this place. Being from the north Im not use to people being so friendly. Walking through each station I couldn't believe how many people said good morning to me. At check out I did not own a loyalty card because I do not have Lowes near me up north. The cashier asked if I had it, I said no, and she still took care of me. I think thats great. Cost of living in the southern states is so different. I don't know if I can credit the store for great prices but yea, I was excited about the prices too! Is it just me or is every employee at this store a teenager that looks like they are barely pushing freshman grade level in high school?? I too agree ten thousand percent that this grocery store is fifty percent higher than walmart and/or food lion, if not more!!¡¡ The kids that run and manage this store are rude and obnoxious.. We can't really hold much of their dramatized attitudes they constantly display against them when they are only reflecting their inner selves.. honestly there are two reasons why i continue to shop here at this lowes food location. First off I try very hard to keep the mindset that these CHILDREN that run this ENTIRE LOWES FOOD LOCATION, are merely just that, CHILDREN, and when you factor children into the equation you will always have wannabes and immaturity.. Secondly, the only reason i even spend a dime of my money at LOWES FOOD (this location or any other location in this ridiculas grocery chain is due solely to convenience!!¡¡ Make no mistake though, i too have to bite my tongue(almost off) and clinch my jaw (sometimes hard enough to shatter) just to drag myself through the front door.. So to touch on the basis of this persons "hope and wish" of lowes going bankrupt, they UNFORTUNATELY never will simply because of this same reason CONVENIENCE!!¡¡ JUST LIKE APPLE and their phones amongst their many other overrated products. I had never been to Hickory before, but I looked up some grocery stores online and saw that this one has a good beer selection, and decided to go there. The internet lied. This Lowes has an AMAZING beer selection! I was blown away, this store rivals some of the nicest grocery stores I've ever seen. Great selection of craft and local beers (including growlers). I mostly only shopped in produce, which seemed a little oddly laid out, but everything was high quality. Visiting this store was a pleasant surprise! read more

The quality and selections of this Lowes location, are just fine, but one reason I don't like to stop at this store, is the weird set-up of the aisles! They are diagonal and broken-up and awkward to navigate (IMHO). Sometimes I just want to run-in and grab an item, or two, when I forgot to get it on my full grocery trip, and trying to zig and zag, and dodge others who are also zigging and zagging. There are SO MANY REASONS to like this Lowes Foods store! I love coffee, so having a large selection of fresh coffee beans is perhaps the major draw for me. They have coffee grinders available, and you can refrigerate your freshly ground coffee at home [preferably in an air tight canister]. The small coffee shop is DEFINITELY worth visiting, as they frequently have "specials", and the quality is top notch! My girls like "Sushi Wednesday", so it's a nice treat for us to go there when we can. The bakery always has fresh bread, which is comparably priced to anything on the shelf -- but WITHOUT any artificial ingredients, such as preservatives. I especially like the cleanliness of the store, and the AMAZING FRIENDLINESS OF THE ENTIRE STAFF! The greetings and helpfulness are not at all artificial. The employees genuinely enjoy their jobs, and the overall friendly atmosphere permeates the entire store. [Wow!] It's such a pleasure to visit this store, and interact with the wonderful people who work there! I especially like Tim, who is one of the managers, and I also like Ana in the bakery. The pretty young cashier from California [sorry... I don't recall her name at the moment] is so beautiful & sweet, I'd return on a regular basis just to go through her line! I wont shop here again. Went inside to buy 2 lowes foods gift cards for a Christmas gift. 50.00 each for 2 cards. I also bought like 15.00 worth of other products. So that was like 115.00 there. I saw where they had Smithfield spiral hams on sale but you had to spend like 25.00 or 50.00 I don't remember. I get to the register and they said we cant sell you the ham at sale price because you didn't spend enough money to get the sale price. With the ham I think it was around 130.00 I said I'm not paying full price the way you guys mark up everything 50 percent higher than Walmart or food lion. Manager comes over and says those gift cards doesn't count for money spent here. I said they're lowes foods gift cards and its 2 for 50.00 each. It's coming back to your store. How is it not money spent here? He continued to argue and being rude. Said I'll let you do it this one time but not again. I said no.. you can keep it. I'll never be back here again. He said that's fine, go elsewhere. I called the corporate office and got the same treatment. Who would shop at this outrageous priced place anyways? They're so much higher than Walmart or food lion. I walked into Lowe's foods and I have never been more excited it's absolutely my favorite place to shop for groceries!

I just picked up an online order during the COVID crisis and none of the 3 young employees who came directly up to my car windows was wearing a mask. As he was loading I asked the young man if the store didn't provide masks for them. He stammered that "yeah we have masks, but, we... we don't... well, that's not a thing...". Apparently management does not enforce that these pick up employees wear masks as they interact with customers through their car windows. That's inexcusable, for the protection of the customer and the employee and should change immediately! read more

I've shopped at many Lowes foods around the Hickory area, and this is at, if not the, top one. I do agree the layout is unique, but regulars figure it out and the extremely helpful people are everywhere. I've been impressed with produce, meat, bakery, hot bar, and grocery. There's a seating area with salad bar and a huge beer selection. They even play music in the parking lot. read more

Awesome store, great service, large deli/bakery, gourmet coffee, unbelievable store for the hickory market! I go at lunch a lot for sushi or the salad bar! Everything is fresh, the store is very upscale and clean, and the staff is wonderful!!! read more

I really like the new update at this location. My favorite part of the store is the deli. I really enjoy their food. The sausage works station is spectacular. I recommend trying one of their products if you haven't. read more
