What a find! This place has sandwiches, quesadillas, flatbreads and more. Their menu makes sure to mark a "v" next to vegetarian items and there's a ton of them. Everything tastes so good. You can't go wrong with any of it. The vibe inside is so relaxed. They have tons and I do mean tons of beers on tap as well. Whether you want to hang out with friends or have a dinner with a drink, this is it! The dark walls and slow music they play really bring the tone down and let you relax. Even though it's got a decent size bar, it's not overly loud. You could definitely bring your family earlier in the day and enjoy good food together. The service is outstanding and the guy that runs the food out seems like he knows everyone in the building. We had a very nice waitress that hustled throughout the room getting orders with the quickness. Even as busy as it was there never seemed to be a table or patron neglected. Anyone near downtown Hickory should make this a regular place and those out of towners looking for something comfortable with a different twist like tofu shawarma would love this restaurant. read more

Me and my boyfriend stopped by for a quick bite before heading back to charlotte (I'm glad we did) My boyfriend got the pimento sandwich which was absolutely delicious. This is a place you can walk by without noticing it's open. There is natural light only when somebody opens the door. At the same time, it's friendly and comfortable. I sat at the bar and had the beer the bartender suggested after she asked me a question or two, which was to my liking. The Cuban sandwich was on special for lunch, so I ordered that with potato and leek soup. Both were excellent. For purists, the Cubano is a little off (ciabatta bread instead of a Cuban roll, which may not be available in Hickory, and more ham than roast pork, when it should be the other way around). But the flavor profile was right on, and it was delicious. Good food, good service, reasonable prices, and even the restroom was clean. Works for me. read more

Very cool atmosphere. Service was good. My issue is that they don't actually cook food hete. They have a conveyor, as they described it, that heats food. So my vegan Creole burger that could have been yummy grilled goodness was mushy. No Smokey grill flavor, really, no flavor. The side of potato salad had some weird off flavor. I would call it anchovy but it should not be that since this is a place with vegan and vegetarian clientale. My dinner was fairly inedible and I am not picky about food. Wine offerings, since I can't tolerate gluten, were Wente and they charged per glass what a bottle costs. I would love to come here again because it's a really chill place but I have no idea what I would eat or drink. My husband didn't finish his sandwich or beer and he is a big guy who needs fuel. read more

There was not much of a crowd, in fact, only two tables were occupied. Everyone else was seated at the bar. This is the seriously most awesome place to hang out in Hickory. I love the food and atmosphere and the wait staff are absolutely amazing.

You sometimes have to make yourself known because it can get a little loud & busy, but everyone is super friendly & eager to help once you do. Everything I've had from the menu has been delicious, from mixed drinks to appetizers to dinners. There are great vegetarian options, the prices are extremely reasonable, AND they are open late!!! I recommend Crescent Moon to sit & eat or grab for take out. I've now done both several times without any disappointment. read more

It seems like one of the few places around here that have these allergy/sensitivity options, plus the food was really good. We enjoyed the nachos with vegan cheese and fresh spicy salsa. It is really nice to be able to look over a menu with so many vegetarian options. The tomato stack, if I recall the name correctly, is delicious. This was our first meal at the Crescent Moon Cafe and we hope that it will not be our last. We ordered the BBQ Sammy, the Pimento, the Titan, and the Black bean burger. The restaurant has a cool atmosphere and it was very clean. The food was just OK but the person that I went with really enjoyed the pimento cheese dip. This place seems to get lost in the shadow of uber-popular Hatch next door, but it shouldn't. Give it a try. FWIW, I'm not a beer drinker, and their beer selection does seem to be a top draw here. But the food here is really good. Atmosphere is chill. I've only been for lunch a few times, and it was always quiet. Service is very friendly and helpful. I would give 4.5 stars if I could, only because the service has always been provided from folks working behind the bar, almost as if the dining area was an add-on. This is definitely the best pub downtown. The menu specials change every day. The soups and flatbread pizzas are always good.
