Filed a complaint w/BBB over this store and their lack of respect for their customers. Complainant: Heather Green Order Number: 300901208262281366 Order Date: July 27, 2026 Order Total: $718.08 Complaint Details I am filing a complaint regarding an order of interior French doors purchased from Lowe's Home Improvement in Bessemer, Alabama. I placed Order #300901208262281366 online on July 27, 2026, in the amount of $718.08. The original delivery date provided by Lowe's was August 10, 2026. On August 10, 2026, I received a text message advising that my order would not be delivered as scheduled and that delivery had been postponed until August 24, 2026. On August 24, 2026, I received another notification stating that my order had once again been delayed and would not be delivered as promised. Following the second missed delivery date, I contacted Lowe's Customer Care by phone. The representative contacted the Bessemer, Alabama store and informed me that the store had not yet received the doors from the vendor. At my request, the representative contacted the vendor and then advised me that the doors would ship that week, arrive at the store no later than August 27, 2026, and be delivered that weekend. To verify that information, I contacted the Bessemer store directly and spoke with an employee named Tam. Tam assured me that she had confirmed the doors had shipped and would arrive at the store no later than Friday, August 28, 2026. She also promised to contact me on August 28 with an update. I never received the promised call. On August 31, 2026, I contacted the Bessemer store again seeking an update. I was told that the doors still had not arrived, the store had no estimated arrival date, and there was apparently nothing they could do regarding the situation. When I requested to speak with the store manager, I was placed on hold and transferred. The call was subsequently disconnected. I then attempted to contact the store repeatedly over approximately the next hour, but my calls went unanswered. Additionally, when I previously asked what Lowe's intended to do to make this situation right, I was informed that I would need to contact the Alabaster Lowe's store regarding management concerns. I found this response confusing and unhelpful, as my order was placed through the Bessemer store and my issue concerns that location. I have been a Lowe's customer for approximately twenty years. While shipment delays can occur, my primary concern is the repeated pattern of inaccurate information, broken promises, poor communication, lack of accountability, and disrespectful customer service. Customers should not have to repeatedly chase down information about an order that is weeks overdue. Desired Resolution I respectfully request: Immediate escalation and review of Order #300901208262281366. A confirmed delivery date and status update from Lowe's management. Compensation for the significant inconvenience caused by multiple missed delivery commitments and repeated misinformation. Follow-up from store, district, or regional management regarding the customer service failures described above. An explanation regarding why customers were repeatedly provided delivery assurances that proved inaccurate. I believe customers deserve timely communication, honest information, and professional treatment. Unfortunately, Lowe's has failed to meet those expectations in this situation. read more

I don't normally shop at Lowe's but I went here and purchased a grill for my husband for Christmas. I placed the order well before time and requested the grill be assembled since they didn't have the one I purchased already put together. I got a notification that my order was canceled and nobody could seem to tell me why. I requested a refund and was told they couldn't do it because a gift card was sent and I had to purchase the grill a second time. Eddrick did take 10% off which was taxes but I was upset I had to purchase the grill twice. He promised the grill would be ready for pickup the next day due to the error. I get there the next day and everyone in returns is telling me my grill wouldn't be ready until 1/3. Mr. Tony was a god send and helped me and went personally and pulled the grill from the back. Nobody seemed to know what was going on. He was my only saving grace in me getting that grill before Christmas. I will never order anything for pickup here again. You can always find what you need at Lowe's. Build a dog house, human house, bird house or out house, with the products and tools found at Lowe's. My trip to the store on this day was to get reporting materials, dirt, peat moss and fertilizer. I found what I needed. I received great customer care at checkout from one of the associates. She showed me how to get my military discount and all was well. Great value on the potting soul. read more

Lowes is definitely an alternative store for home improvement needs. Really I like their prices on garden small plants more than nearly any other store around. I I like them For Christmas decor as well. They will load items in your car for you as well so service is good too read more

Worst customer service of any other home improvement store. I had a pickup order placed for ONE ITEM and they couldn't even have it ready in 7 1/2 hours because there was no one in fulfillment. Instead of Lowes, I would recommend Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Marvin's or Tractor Supply. Or if you're in the Bessemer area, Fountains Building supply. This is one of many Lowe's complaints I have and I'm fed up. This specific location in Bessemer Alabama especially! And to add insult to their poor customer service, they don't respond to reviews to rectify of improve their poor customer service. read more

One star is way to generous. Let me preface this review by saying that I yearly spend in excess of $100,000 in big box home improvement storesevery year for my work. That said, I know where to go for what and know that even in the same brand some locations are better than others. Today I went in to the Bessemer Lowes for two things, plywood and paint. I started with the plywood an almost all of it was unpriced and many areas were in disarray. I needed 30 sheets and about ten were down but more was up high needing a forklift. After finding no one in liumber I asked a cashier, Magogany, who tried to be helpful by calling someone. Fifteen or so minutes later I decided that the lumber guy must have died so I decided to go to the paint department and come back. I kew the color and type but a lady waiting at the counter for her paint smiled and said "Good luck." The call button did not work so a cashier paged someone. The lady next to me said "That's two."! I waited through 32 minutes and two more pages and then told the lady next to me and another man who had arrived that I was leaving because driving ten minutes to Home Depot was faster. I should note that I would have thiught after that many pages a store manager would have got up from his office chair to see what was going on. After arriving at the Fairfield HD i got everything I needed and was gone in 20 minutes. In my business time is money and if it was not for Lowes-Gardendale I would close my Lowes Commercial account because I am done with this location. Not that Lowes is very good no matter what location you go to this location is the worst one I've ever seen. I simply wanted an air fryer the website said they have them in stock I walked around 20 minutes looking for them without finding one the only employee had a customer and then four more behind them waiting to ask her a question I finally get an associate to talk to me as he was passing by I asked about them and he just completely ignored me like I was a piece of trash. I know he heard me he made eye contact with me and just shrugged me off I tried to get the name off of his shirt but I could not catch it he was gone so quickly. I've had bad experiences here before and swore I would never come back but I decided to give them one more chance but never again. Ok I will start by saying they were open for business....but that's where the good stops. I understand this is Bessemer, but for the love, have employees that know something about what they are selling...or pointing to. Went to buy material for deck. Pressure treated. 10 ft and 12 ft length. 6x6 posts...all pressure treated. Lumber was rough...warped, splintered and not worth what they wanted for board length. When I asked if they had bundles on top stock, I was told they dont bring down till bin gets low. So I started digging, then asked if they had any 2x8 x12 pressure treated they could get down as they had 9 boards left in bin. He pointed to a bin of 2x8 non pressure treated, and said it was the same thing. I left and went to Fountain Bldg supply. Higher...yes, but at least they knew what I was looking for. read more

I order wood to build a deck on the lowes online feature. Lowe's online sent it to a location over 60 miles away. waited two weeks and you guessed it. they did not deliver the wood on the day they said they wood. Matt the delivery manager just said. it was not pulled the night before. Bad business all the way around. Told me they would deliver it the next day. I called the next morning and they did not pull the wood again. The night supervisor pulled it the next morning. Then to top it off some of the wood I needed was molded. They at least tried to find it at another Lowes on the way and no one had it. Darrius the ASM did not even offer any help or credit for their poor business practice. I will never use Lowe's again! I know this has to be the worst location of them all. I purchased a washer/dryer set last year in June and I'm just receiving my dryer. I wasn't in such a rush because the dryer I had worked. They said it was because of shipping, but come on now! Then they wanted to give me a refund for the dryer....NO! was the answer.... I purchased a matching set and that's what I expect to get. Neither the less I finally got my dryer. Now let's go to customer service. I've never witnessed anything like this type of service. No one ever picks up the phone and when they do they can't help, put you on hold forever and still return to the phone with no answers and I think it's even worse in the store. Called and asked for someone to actually go into the back and confirm the stacking washer/dry set IN BLUE was in stock. After waiting for 17.5 minutes I was told they did have it. I confirmed they actually laid hands on it and they weren't going by the computer? They assured me they did. Told her I was on my way then. 32 mins later I'm in the store and waited 45 minutes for the one person working in the department to get to me. Here's why I'm reducing my stars to 1. I'm fuming because I had to go the opposite way from my home to go to another Lowe's in search of this particular unit because I'm supposed to believe they sold the set to someone else. I recently had my hot water tank go out which required me to buy a new one. The store associate was very helpful and informative. Unfortunately, he did leave off that I needed an estimate by the contractor before install. Kathy corrected this issue and helped me navigate the entire process. She was a calming force in a very hectic time. The estimate fee is $35, but the labor was priced at over $700. This was well over $400 more than the product. I do understand that this was the contractor and not Lowe's. But geesh!! read more

we purchased a stainless refrigerator and stove from the Bessemer Lowe's delivered on 04/08/2023. When the delivery men left, we started wiping of the excess tape and wrapping on the new frig as I wiped with the terry cloth and the stainless steel cleaner for appliances I noted the right side had a shine and the other side was dull, to our surprise we had a frig with two different door textures. right side shiny stainless steel and left side was smudge proof fingerprint resistant and the handles on doors were not even. A call to the Bessemer spoke w/manager and indicated would have to wait till Monday. Did not use new frig due to it would have to be returned. On Monday spoke w/young lady who sets up delivery returns, very nice lady. They picked up on 04/12/2023. The lady in deliver returns called me back to indicate, the frig was received and money would be credited back, I inquired about a discount due the inconvenience of being without a frig for over 5 days, she would have to refer to a manager. Well Let me say, I received a call from one of their managers who indicated to me, He received the refrig back and He found nothing wrong with it......so therefore he could not offer me a discount. REALLY...So Basically I guess he has the eyes of Superman and everyone else human eyes, I have a case number with Lowe's customer care center they took notes and documented the case/per the customer care rep that spoked with the Bessemer Lowe's manager who indicated to him that he had a refrigerator to be replaced. The lack of professionalism is astounding. My sister had an interview set for 4:30, she'd gotten there and there hiring manager advised he'd be right back. 5 o clock comes around and the guy hasn't returned, but it took an associate to advise my sister, "oh he's not coming back maybe try tomorrow." I noticed the LACK of staff that you all already have and if this is how potential future employees are treated then I can definitely understand why there weren't many workers. Do better. read more

We have been to the Bessemer Store twice in the last month. Once for carpeting and the second for flooring. Both times we waited over 20 minutes for help that never came after ringing the button. Each time we had to literally hunt down an employee that assured us that an associate would meet us at the items location. Again another 15 minute for the carpet and 27 for the laminate. Each time when an associate finally showed up and ended their phone call the other had to finish his text, they said they had to go to the back to check the stock on our items and never returned. So we now we will never return and now will do ALL of our home and RV project purchases from The Home Depot. The drive is further but there they recognize that their customers are not only human beings but pay their salaries. How is it that their managers, district managers and corporate managers don't have someone reading any of these and send someone in to fix the problem? read more

Lowe's is usually my go to place for most house and repair items because they usually have what I need, even if it's a hard to find item. Twice in the past 2 months I came here and needed assistance and twice I waited over 18 minutes to get a response from a team member and no one arrived. Today I needed shelving cut, rang the assistance button a total of 3 times, had 4 different associates walk by but no one helped. I left with out shelving. The first time i went to get supplies about a month ago, I needed help loading some very heavy bags of gravel and again associates were called numerous times with no response. Finally a girl who worked there noticed that I had been waiting for a very long time and offered to help. Her and I together were able to lift the bags. Not sure what the problem - may be the times I've gone it. is but it has the appearance customers are a bother. read more

They don't offer to assist you here. I have run into several employees who have an attitude. I asked for something and they don't know where it is. This is true in different departments, customer service, the garden center, and from speaking to the employees in general who walk around the store. You have to ask them for help. This is a fantastic Lowe's. I was in major need of organizational supplies in my new apartment and storage unit. I was able to get shelves approximating my all-time favorite, the Ikea Expedit series, sturdy plastic shelves and bins to hold my gear in storage, and command strips galore. Why minus 1 star? I bought quarter-round to put on a shelf to support my self-made calendar/whiteboard system, and needed it cut. I'm pretty sure the dudes there just snapped it instead of cutting it (rough edges!) and the length was incorrect. Plus, the store is not as logically organized as I would have liked it to be. Overall, it is a big, clean store, with helpful staff and a wide variety of pretty much everything home or DIY related. I approve! read more

I ordered a dryer and refrigerator from Lowe's about a few months ago and 3 weeks ago it said it was delivered in the store and should get a call to set up a date for Lowe's to install them. 2 weeks go by and no call so then we call them and said that it will be delivered and installed in a few days then the delivery/installation day comes nobody shows up so we called Lowe's around 5:30 and we discussed our problem and said that they would deliver it tomorrow but their is no guarantee. Love my siding and windows but was told it would take about a week, it took 22 days. Still have broken glass in my shrubbery from an old window being broken. One window screen was torn and we immediately reported this to Mr. Chancellor who came out before siding was finished on June 27 to measure for replacement screen. I then called Mr. Chancellor in September to remind him about screen and now it is the end of October and I still have a torn window screen. I am having some other work done but not using Lowe's. read more

2 weeks ago I placed an order for delivery. Well today was the day, no delivery. Called 8-9 times to the store, to corporate, no answer. The store I am referring to is located in Bessemer, AL. This isn't the first time I have had issues. Many past experiences going to the store, can't find help, but plenty of workers standing around talking. Most of them are lazy looking for a paycheck. This use to be a good store about a year ago and since then, well Home Depot is a few miles more and unfortunately I will be shopping there. Sad part about it, and their loss, I have a roof to out on, deck to build, a kitchen to remodel, and flooring through out the house. I would say a loss for Lowes of about 50K. Don't ever buy floor models at this store. My husband inadvertently purchased special ordered french doors that seemed to be at a great price. We stored them in our shed to have them installed at a later date. Several months later after hiring a contractor we found out they were the wrong doors, hence special order for a specific home not ours. Though we no longer had our receipt I felt that since we were card carrying customers that had recently spent thousands of dollars on appliances and yard equipment surely they'd be reasonable and apply at least a portion of the purchase price to the doors we needed. I was wrong, the manager tried to avoid us completely, I had to ask to speak to him to try to work something out. He still refused, why because unlike us, he knew special order doors was of no value to anyone. We made a mistake and he was going to make us pay for it even though we had been loyal customers for many years. The most appalling part of it all, we only paid about $200.00 for the doors... we spent roughly $4000.00 in the last month buying outdoor equipment and they couldn't work with us on $200.00. I even called the corporate office and they said it's the local stores decision. Well to that I say, Lowe's loss is Home Depot's gain. I will drive the extra 10 miles from now own but I will never shop at Lowe's again. I've dealt with many big brand stores before such as Sears and never had a problem with or without a receipt. I'm still perplexed by a business choosing to lose a card carrying customer that they've got verifiable spending history on over $200.00... go figure? read more
