When I questioned the permit fee, both Lowe's and Premier Services Group initially told me it was a permit fee. At one point, I was even told it was a "City permit fee," which immediately raised concerns because the City of Grand Junction does not issue building permits for this type of work. Mesa County does. After multiple emails, phone calls, and a week of trying to get a straight answer, I checked with the Mesa County Building Department. Their fee schedule for this project's permit would be approximately $50-$60, not $230. During my final call with the Premier Services Group, they blamed their quote generation process and Lowe's for the inflated permit amount and explained that the permit fee shown on the quote is merely an estimate. I was told that any difference between the estimated and actual permit costs would be refunded after the job is completed. The problem? Nobody mentioned that before. Not on the quote. Not in the emails. Not during multiple conversations with Lowe's or Premiere Services Group. The first time anyone mentioned a refund was after I had already spent a week trying to determine why a $60 permit was being quoted at $230. And even if that explanation is accepted, why is the estimate more than four times the actual permit cost? It's possible the charge was deliberately labeled an "Independent Contractor Permit" rather than a building permit to disguise what amounts to a 31% markup on the installation cost. If so, that's about as misleading as it gets. This experience also revealed how Lowe's installation process appears to work. Lowe's sells the product in Grand Junction. Premier Services Group, based in Oregon, handles the installation quoting process. A local installer is called in to take measurements. Premier Services Group prepares the estimate, and Lowe's then presents the quote on Lowe's letterhead. As a customer, you're dealing with Lowe's, but there are multiple layers between you and the actual installer. Now, to the prices. Lowe's installation quote was $1,016.55. For the exact same door replacement, established local installers quoted approximately $600. That's nearly 70% higher than local competitors. My takeaway: Just because Lowe's is convenient and has a nationally recognized brand behind it, don't assume you're getting a competitive price or transparent pricing. I went into this process expecting the Lowe's name to provide confidence and oversight. Instead, I found inflated charges, confusing explanations, and a permit fee that nobody could adequately explain until I started doing my own investigation. Shop around. Bought a Frigidaire induction stove/oven and it would not bring water to a boil. Appliance tech came out from Frigidaire and replace parts. Said my induction cookware is not good enough for their stove. Now it won't even turn on, the technician scratch the stainless steel and put a gouge in my new flooring. Not to mention I found a left over screw. And now I have to wait another week for another Frigidaire Tech to come out and figure out why it will not turn on. Ok went into store in Grand junction Colorado to apply for a credit card because I needed to purchase a water heater arrivedat service counter greeting was okay and cashier started helping us to which she couldn't because we didn't have an order number nor was explained to how the process and procedure was to get a Lowe's rewards card and pay for our water heater. Mind you I was with my 80 yr old aunt that can't hear very well and we were having to use my smart phone to make calls to plumbing company and other places to receive a work order well none of the employees knew exactly what to do and that would have been okay but none of them even bothered to ask a manager what to do so about after 2 hrs I had about had enough mind you I hadn't had water since the previous Thursday so it wasn't the most pleasant time so am associate named Cheri worked in appliances and heard this whole situation and told us to come back the next day and we would start this ordeal all over again. . So be it me and my aunt arrived the next day before noon and asked to speak to Cheri. She arrived at the check out counter and proceeded to tell us that again we had to call the bank we were getting the Lowe's rewards card through. That was another saga! They were beyond rude and I was wondering why all these people were so angry and rude and why were they working with the public in the first place. Me and my aunt said that was okay but at the same time voiced that we dreaded speaking to associates at that bank any way we agreed toand I was politely trying to tell Cheri I might have an order number and so forth and may be able to help us to which she replied this has nothing to do with what we are trying to do. Everytime she tried to punch in a price or an authorization code she couldn't even punch the keys with her metallic silverfish acrylic nails. Worst service I have ever gotten at a retail establishment, Managers direct the employees to prevent customers from talking to managers at all cost. I tried to get help from a manager in the doors department and was told I needed to wait and wait I did for 20 minutes before I ended up buying a $400 screen door from Home Depot. Virtually everybody other than the cashiers act as if they're doing you a favor by being there. Another time I went to buy Paint at truly outrageous prices, when a manager stood right by me with either a friend or family member and directed the paint mixer to mark it down as a mismatch to provide further discount, no wonder they need to mark it up so much for their regular retail customers. read more

I have loved shopping in this store for years after dumping Home Depot permanently. Went in today and loaded 2 large flat carts full of stuff PLUS two of the grocery store type carts full of items. Managed to get them all to the front of the store. Could NOT find a cashier. Was finally told that they went to 100 % Self Check Out. This is definitely NOT happening to this large extended family. I shoved all 4 carts down the nearest aisle and walked out. Went to Tru Value and bought about half of what I wanted and needed. "Welcome to Lowe's" an employee said to a customer who reported that the wrong dishwasher was delivered to them. I was standing in the customer care line waiting for someone to find the assistant manager who had been helping me with my problem. My experience at Lowes showed me that the employees have no training nor empowerment to help a customer. "I can't do that because the computer won't let me schedule it" or "I don't know why you didn't get a call, I'm sorry" or "We can only give you a 12 hour time now for that delivery. They will call you the day before with a 4 hour delivery time." or "We can't refund your money until the damaged item is in the store"" I was explained the software limitations, the delivery system logistics, as well as the limitation of the assistant manager's empowerment. Doing business with Lowe's is on their terms and if anything goes wrong, they are sorry but I can't . . . The result is that the customer ends up feeling like a victim. And, in my case, having to start over. I was able to find the same model of range at a locally owned business and it was installed the same day. I went into Lowe's and had so many people who worked there asking if they could help me. I was excited and told my husband how good the customer service was as compared to Home Depot. So, we shopped there for all the items we needed for our addition. We ordered the flooring through a manager associate, who ordered it while we stood next to him. He said that there was plenty of the flooring and said it would be ready to be picked up on Saturday. We told our contractor, who then scheduled his crew to be ready to install it. The flooring didn't arrive at the store. There was no order on file, which no one could explain. So, they ordered it again and said it would be in a week later. Again, we had our contractor schedule his crew. The flooring didn't arrive. This time, we were told that the warehouse wouldn't allow us to buy the flooring unless we bought it in certain quantities, which was more than we needed. Then, we were told that we could get it from another Lowe's in Glenwood Springs. It would cost over $200 to ship to us, or we could pay big bucks in gas to drive over and back to pick it up. We have given up dealing with Lowe's...ever. In addition, we have friends and family members who are building. I have told them about our experience, and they are no longer going to shop at Lowe's. read more

Plants are well cared for and once they show the slightest sign of getting past their prime, they are deeply discounted. This place was a horrible experience. All I tried to get was a charger and battery for a drill I looked for 20 minutes straight. Then I asked 1 person they led me to across the store and all around it maybe even as far away as I could be from what I was looking for. I couldn't find that so I asked a different person they led me across the store again just to tell me that they were locked away because they were so expensive. So I grabbed the paint I also needed which was possibly the only good thing that I got out of that trip. So that person who did paint that day and hour I thank. So when I got to the register to ask for the charger and battery it took them 10 minutes just to unlock they were in So when I came back they made me move registers and then I had to wait another 15 minutes for another person to come to that register so I can check out my items. I was so mad that I left my bag there. So I asked my daughter to go in and grab it so whenever she walked in the people who I checked out my things with were standing at the door with my bag and they looked straight at my daughter recognized her and then they walked towards the exit to see if I was coming back for it and when my daughter said " Excuse me " they said " oh there you are then dropped my bag then walked away. So with all this trip took me about two hours to get about five items so I definitely do not recommend I repeat do not recommend coming here because none of the employees know what they're doing nobody knows where anything is and nobody can keep track of time so I will never be coming back to Lowe' s ever again but if you want a nice hardware store go to Home Depot thank you for reading my story. My wife and I spent over $10k for title floor and installation service. We found very nice tiles and we were excited. But, the excitement didn't last long. To make a statement, their contractor sucks! They tell us they would come at 9:00am but they showed up at 10:30am. Once they are here, they take 1 - 1 1/2 hour break for every few minutes. Either my wife and I have to keep eye one them to make sure they would do their jobs. Really? Do We have to babysit the workers??? In fact, we know they take longer break than doing their work. Although they don't show up on time, they leave here at 3:00pm on time. Then, this weekend... Yesterday, three of them were supposed to be here but only one showed up. The one didn't know why the other two didn't show up. Today, only two showed up. It was very obvious that they didn't want to work today and they did very sloppy job; see attached pictures. They again visited each other longer than doing their work. Also, we found out why didn't show up yesterday. They worked on another job. If they had other work to do, why didn't they tell us that they could not work here? Not acceptable! I complained this to Lowe's today. I understand that not all managers work on Sunday. But, it is even more upsetting that no one assured me that they would make it right. We paid $10k+ for this?!?! Kidding me, right!?!? At this time, I am ok with the products they sell but their installation services are not good at all! read more

What a disappointment! Lowe's used to be my favorite home and improvement store but it's been years since we lived anywhere near one. Home Depot has been it for us and although lacking in selection and some of our favored brands, the customer service/experience has consistently been good. They went astray a few years back but put some real effort in changing their ways to emphasize a more customer centric model and it has worked well for the company as a whole. Seeing a Lowe's here in Grand Junction while in town on vacation we were excited to head in and enjoy all we miss by not having one close to home. WOW, is all I can say. We must have walked around looking to items for at least a half hour and not a single employee acknowledged us. No "hello," no "can we help you find something?" Nadda! And to be clear, their was not a shortage of employees walking around not helping a sole. What a disappointment...I guess customer satisfaction is not high on the list here. I will stop being sad about not having one close to home and just appreciate the Home Depot we do have which has excellent customer service! read more

The Lowe's in Grand Junction was outstanding!! This was a completely different experience than the one we had in Glenwood Springs the day before. Patty, Anthony and Jeremiah did everything in their power to treat us with excellent customer service and respect. Everything about this experience from start to finish, having our supplies loaded, on a Uhaul we rented to make it thru the canyon we had to go thru for the additional distance we had to drive was excellent. Doug, Jake and Hayden did an absolutely wonderful job loading the truck. Everyone was so professional and kind unlike Glenwood Springs where Don told us to take our business elsewhere, even suggesting Valley lumber!!. We even had to get the truck back to Uhaul in Junction that night so round double round trip we didn't get home till midnight and it was still worth it, the customer service in Glenwood Springs was so bad!! Also we noticed the next day we didn't have my husband's insulin and meter so I called the store thinking we left on the desk in Pro, but they are closed on Sunday. So a lovely associate from Home Decor named Deanna went all over the store looking for it. She went above and beyond just like everyone at Grand Junction. We will never step foot in Glenwood Springs again, but Grand Junction restored our faith in Lowe's customer service. read more

Wish there way to leave negative stars! On Feb. 2, 2022 I ordered online a Kitchen Aid dishwasher from Lowe's in Grand Junction, CO. It said the dishwasher was in IN STOCK at the store. This was to include the dishwasher, delivery and installation and haul away. After not hearing anything, I called them on Feb. 8th. The lady at Customer Care said the order never went thru. What the heck does that mean? She started the process of trying to get a dishwasher to that store. Don't know what happened to the one that was "in stock". Kept checking the order status but evidently that means nothing. She opened up a case # and said someone would call me within 24 hrs. Yeah, that never happened. Today the order status was changed to "Ready for installer pickup". I called and was transferred to Dora in Installation. I was told the earliest install date available is March 29, 2022! This is Feb. 11, 2022! She said she'd work at getting a better time & call me tomorrow. Yeah, right! Don't even think about shopping this store! read more

My husband went in yesterday for his work looking for a specific part that the website stated was in stock. When he got in there he asked an employee for assistance and he just told my husband "I don't know... it must have walked off" (sarcastically). He went to Home Depot today and they did not have the part, so he decided to call back to Lowe's to double check as the website still said they had the part. He called and got some gal that said she did not know and would have someone check and call him back. He told her he just wanted to wait until someone checked. She put him on hold and 8 minutes later another guy picked up the phone and asked he could help. He told him the whole story and apparently the gal just put him on hold and nobody was checking.
