This is the specific home improvement store that I use. I find that it is consistently better on customer service and their workers being willing to help you find an item. They have a good selection of products, it's very clean and organized. Their prices are in line with most other big box home improvement stores. I have a Lowe's card so you get a discount when you use it at every purchase, which is helpful. I don't care for the self check out areas whatsoever, but I don't like those in any store. Most of their plants are good quality, and I have not had problems with them dying like other stores plants that I've purchased. We did choose to have a very large window put in facing our backyard and another regular window from Lowe's. They contract out and while it got done and looks good there were just a few issues with that situation that would give the overall rating of four star. read more

Purchased a Maytag washer and dryer, and the washer broke within a week. When we contacted Lowe's, we were told their return policy is only 48 hours if you didn't use a Lowe's credit card, which we were never told at the time of purchase. We've now been without a washer for three weeks. Maytag service finally came out after two weeks and immediately determined it needs a new motherboard and additional parts, which will take another week and a half to arrive. Overall, a very disappointing experience with both the product and the service timeline. read more

My washer died suddenly yesterday. And my dryer has been glitching. So I figured it was time to get a new set. I dreaded a delay due to the supply chain. I walked into Lowe's, and Sammy in the appliance department had me in and out within a half hour, a delivery scheduled for the next day. I walked out smiling. It was the easiest appliance transaction I have ever experienced. And I am so thankful I don't have to live long without a washer and dryer. I don't have a laundromat nearby. As far as selection, I'm usually able to find what I came in for, and the prices are commensurate with their competitors. What really sets this store apart for me is the helpfulness of the sales associates. Today when I was in the store, four people offered to help me, which saved me a lot of time and frustration of hunting down the items by myself. Bought a flat-top grill to be delivered. The store damaged it during assembly. This changed the delivery date to another week out and was communicated on the day delivery was expected (a week later). New date was a week out, even though a new purchase would be here in 2 days. No priority given to me. Tried to change delivery address locally and customer service rep was not empowered to do so. The only action she could take was to cancel the order. Really? Their new date was 5 days out. I would up cancelling the order. Re-ordering through the Overland Park store and getting delivery in 2 days. I understand things happen. But the store should step up and do something about it. So disappointed in Lowes for not empowering CS reps and not offering any restitution for not keeping their promises (or at least commitments). read more

This store hasn't gone downhill, it's gone off a cliff. Sales associates are largely friendly and seem interested in helping customers, but delivery and installation has been contracted out to lazy, disreputable third parties that Lowe's pretends to have no control over. We bought a major kitchen appliance and the delivery company refuses to show up as scheduled with the product. Lowe's store manager says he can't control whether they show up or not and advised me to complain to his manager or else nothing will ever change. WTF? I was told the store manager would call me about the problem, but I have not received a call from the cowardly store manager. We also had major problems with a custom counter top for a bathroom vanity. Lowe's had one company delivery it, but paid a different contractor to install it, so we had to wait for that contractor to call us to schedule. The stone company guys who delivered it expressed frustration about not being able to help and told us they've been dealing with a lot of pissed off Lowe's customers. Meanwhile the vanity top we ordered has sat on our bedroom floor in pieces for over a two weeks. When the installer finally did show up and unboxed the sinks he saw one was broken. He installed the unbroken sink and left a hole in the vanity where the broken sink should have been. He also didn't secure the shut off valve under the sink so water leaked through our floor and the ceiling below. It took an additional two weeks for the stone company to get a replacement sink for us. While all this was going on the local store manager was 100% absent. This store wouldn't return my calls or help us at all. We got Lowes corporate headquarters involved by bashing the company on social media pages, or the problems may never have been resolved. The good news is there is a Home Depot across the street and a new Menards right down the road. read more

Next morning I woke up to a voicemail from Sammy Samaroo saying he located the fridge and to show up and pay for it! Sammy made our day! I kinda think he went above and beyond what is called for! I normally shop in Olathe and prefer Menards due to good customer service but the product I needed is only carried by Lowe's and it's only in stock at this location. The customer service at this store is horrendous. I was told to look in 3 different areas for the product and when I finally found the correct aisle the product was not marked. When I asked for help on 2 different occasions it was as if the associates were waiting for the plague. During the self checkout, the machine malfunctioned and while the red light was flashing a nearby cashier was oblivious to the fact and proceeded to go about her daily activity until I spoke up and advised I needed help. Great customer service in the lawn mower department! The first employee was new, so he asked another to help answer our questions. We ended up with four guys helping us, not because we needed that many, but because they were all just trying to be helpful! We asked loads of questions, and got good insightful/technical answers to all of them. The man from CA was very knowledgeable, friendly, and the most help. My mom and I went to this lowe's because we read the good reviews. once we got there we went to the shower section where is where we needed the help. there was no one there so we went to customer service. we picked out a shower head and the sign said they would have someone come install it. once we got to customer service they said they didn't have anyone that could install it and we would have to go to a whole other place. once we said we were leaving the man starting laughing at us. So, we're leaving and then, we're offered some help. People should really learn to multi task. Apparently, he was helping someone else but, that's no excuse. I asked if they could cut down a 10' downspout for me (fully knowing I would pay for the whole piece which was fine) and they went above and beyond and they cut it down to size. Went To purchase a $3000+ mower last night. Was told they were buried and they would be able to get one out to assemble. It was 5:30pm. We were told they'd have it out and ready for pick up this afternoon. Called, the assemblers didn't get to it so it will be later in the week when the 'get to it'. Do not buy cabinets from Lowes at any price. Just a complete bumble from start to finish. I'm now two months into the process and was just told the cabinet install was two weeks away even tho the installer knew the date the cabinets were to be delivered. They have been sitting here a week. They came to check them in and now it's another two weeks. Then they have to be measured for the granite tops and that's another two weeks. Recently I had contacted the Shawnee store regarding the carpet they installed in our home. Great response regarding our complaint, the manager said to take photos of the buckling in the carpet and send them for their review. The next day they informed us that our warranty had expired, carpet comes with a 1 year warranty, even though every room and hallway had at least 2-3 large buckles in the carpet. The carpet we purchased was middle grade which I think would not matter regarding buckling. They informed us that they will not do anything about but to call a installer and have the whole house reinstalled at our cost. Beware future carpet buyers, get an additional warranty or don't buy from Lowe's. We have purchased carpet and appliances for two homes so you would think that would carry some weight, not at all, just a number.... Thank you Home Depot for being there for us. read more

Current sale flier advertises an item that is a great price but none of their locations has it. Not that they had it and ran out, NEVER GOT IT. When I go online it says that there are several locations that do have it in stock but when I call to confirm they don't. Try to arrange order online and deliver to store for free is not offered and ship to home is $59 - the item it only $37! call customer service to try work out and while the guy I spoke to was outstanding (Mark) he was unable to find any in my area, offer a rain check, or get the ridiculous ship to home fee waived. I'm not normally a Lowe's shopper because Home Depot is a little closer to my house, but Lowe's had an electric fireplace in stock that I had my eye on, so I visited the Shawnee location a few weeks ago. Despite the building's exterior that's in need of a little love, the inside of the store is clean and organized. As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with a friendly 'hello' by two employees. Before going to the store, I looked my item up online, and was given the exact aisle number and location. Because of the web site, it was incredibly easy to find what I was looking for. Within seconds of finding the fireplace, which was quite heavy, an employee offered to help me by bringing a dolly my way. He waited in line with us, and waited for me to pull my car around, then he loaded the item in my car for me. We love this fireplace so much, I went back today for another one. I had the exact same experience. The employees at this Lowe's store go above and beyond the call of duty. It does need some work to look a little spiffier on the outside, specifically the lighting on the lettering, but I will happily go back to this store in the future. read more

Horrible experience both times I decided to use them. 1st time I ordered about $8k in appliances and they said installation would be free. Nope, they changed their mind about that and decided to charge me at the last minute, the excuse; "They never said that". This was 2 years ago and the appliances are already basically trash. 2nd time (why did I go back, I know) I ordered several things to be delivered for a big project I had at home over the weekend. They offered express delivery and I paid extra to have it delivered on Sunday. No call, no show, so by the end of the day I called and guess what? They "don't offer express delivery at that store" and they tried to schedule the delivery two weeks out. Hahaha! No excuse for not calling or contacting me by email btw. Pathetic store, pathetic management, just all around sad that Shawnee has to have such a terrible Lowes. My suggestion? Just go to Home Depot, it's across the street and they aren't perfect, but at least they are honest. read more

I am trying to order a shed for delivery to my house. First off, I called them on a Thursday, I was told it could be delivered by Saturday. Great. I get a call that Friday - nope, they have to special order it. Fine, delivery for next Wednesday. They give a 2 hour window for delivery that Wednesday; no show, no call. I ask for delivery that Friday. I get 3 emails giving me 2 time frames for Thursday. Ok. I wait for the 2 hour window on Thursday. No call. No show. Despite 5 calls to customer service and 3 emails, nothing is resolved. Either they are completely incompetent or they are a scam. This is pathetic. A buddy told me once people go to Lowe's, 'if all the other places are out of the way'. He was right. Lowe's - I will never return business to you... Amendment: the 1 star I gave is for Judy at this store who actually did contact me and spoke to me to try to resolve this issue. No stars for anyone else read more

The staff at this location always seems to be able to help me no matter what I need from them, whether it is to return an item or find an item. I also like that they offer a military discount all the time and not just on Veterans Day. I can only guess that other locations are as friendly and helpful as this location. read more

My advice -- Absolutely do not buy anything and have them install. I bought two toilets over a week ago on a Saturday morning. First call from installer came late Tuesday night (after I called to find out why I had not been contacted yet). Said they needed to make two trips. One to measure then separate trip to install. Pretty inflexible on times so I had to call manager to get somebody else. Ended up I went to the back of line so another 48 hours for next call. Finally had somebody come to Measure 6 days after purchase. Meanwhile. They sold the toilets they had in stock when I was in the store so another 4-7 days before they can get and install. I offered to buy a week ago but they said deposit was all they needed. Their process sucks (two trips?). Nobody is informed about procedures. And you get the runaround when you call. Hope somebody at their HQ reads this and realizes how much they are alienating long term and loyal customers. Going to Home Depot next time just because I'm so mad at lowes. Look at my other reviews. I rarely give one star ratings so clearly frustrated when I do! read more

For the past 8 years of home ownership we have used Lowes in Topeka. I wish they would have frustrated me sooner, so I could have found the Shawnee store earlier. Jeb with install services was outstanding! Prompt and thorough. We had a deck, fencing, and windows installed. The deck installers were professional and the fence and window installs will take place Friday...I have no doubts the experience will be just as phenomenal! read more

Not their best store (I forgot to leave this review in November, but still want to share). I came in to spend $400 in the lumber area and asked for help at the front desk. For nearly twenty minutes, I stood in the main aisle watching for any Lowes employee. My dad checked back at the front desk a few times, so they paged repeatedly for assistance. Nobody ever showed up, so we went across the street to Home Depot. If you do need help at a Lowes, go to Roeland Park, where they've always been excellent. read more

It's a consistent big box hardware store. I've never had any bad experiences at this location. I go here and the competitor across the street. I really don't have a particular preference. It usually has to do with which side of Shawnee Mission Pkwy I'm on at the time. I try and go to the smaller hardware stores as much as I can, but they just can't carry everything the mega stores can. read more
