I went to pick up a microwave I ordered online and it was not available like it said online and I already paid for it. Brian called the Florence store and they had the exact same one so Brian said he would go the next morning and pick it up on his way to the Sumter store which he did! I called the store and asked to speak with him while I was on hold waiting at the curbside parking lot he came out with the microwave himself and loaded in my vehicle. I don't know many people who would go through all that trouble but he did. I do not know him personally but he definitely left a wonderful impression on me and my family Lowes is blessed to have him! Never Use Lowe's For flooring installation. There is NO guarantee when the job will be started or finished. There is no single person to help you with anything, you buy from a salesman who disappears, talk to a 1-800 number that changes reps each time you call, coordinate with your own delivery drivers, installation scheduler, store manager, installation manager, they say the best way to get the installers to do anything is to talk to them in person if you live in the home, but you are never given a way to contact them if not. I had to make 4 phone calls and talk to 2 different locations then wait a week to purchase. Lowe's provided the OPPOSITE of a "reliable", "stress free" solution to being an out of state homeowner under contract to sell if floors were replaced. I signed the flooring contract with Lowe's on the 11th of September, it took until the 29th of September for materials to be delivered. Until the 21st of October for the installation to be completed. 40 DAYS LATER After the installation was complete the installers left a huge mess throughout the house (saws were used indoors), in the garage (pallets and packing materials and flooring supplies were left a strew), and they removed all toilets and standalone sinks, but did not re-install them. 6. $16,000 for LVP flooring throughout a 2,229 sq/ft home, still had to pay for fixtures to be re-installed and the home to be cleaned because of how the installers left the job. The ONLY installation company Lowe's outsources to, Keller Interiors, refused to schedule installation until the I personally went into the local Lowe's and purchased a $34 piece of stair molding that the Lowe's salesperson did not include in the original estimate or delivery. (Remember, I am an out of state home owner, I had to drive 1,000 miles, 8hrs there and 8hrs back to walk into the store and pick up a $34 piece of stair material that the salesman ghosted me on as soon as there was a problem.) Took so long the sale of the home fell through. Tenant interested, signed a lease to move in 7 November. On the 15th of October property manager did a walk through and advised that it appeared I only had half the required material delivered. I called Keller and they refused to inventory the material until the date of installation. I called the salesman at Lowe's (Craig King) who took the measurements, wrote the quote, and took my payment. He still to this day has not responded. I called the Lowe's 1-800 number that I had by this point called many many times to t. "Oh, yeah, it looks like Craig measured upstairs and downstairs but only quoted you for upstairs, so all that was delivered is the upstairs." Three days and many many more phone calls to people who did NOTHING but listen, sound confused, or apologetic, give me empty promises to make something happen or just tell me they were going to do what I had already tried I FINALY found a 1-800 tech who knew a person that could help. Unfortunately, as soon as I knew the material was going to be delivered I called Keller Interiors to make sure they knew. The next day, they contacted me and said, OK we see this new installation request and the soonest we can get to it is the 11th and 12th of November... AFTER my signed lease for the 7th. Once the installation of the upstairs started communication with Keller Interiors went to ZERO. No, "things are going great", "the installation is done", nothing. At the end of day one (they told me it took so long to book the install because it was a big job that required two days back to back and they absolutely could not be broken up even though this was a vacant home), I got an automated text from Lowe's saying my installation had been complete. I tried to confirm with Keller Interiors if it was in fact complete to make sure they were moving on to the downstairs and not stealing back my 2nd day. By 10:00 am the next day I had finally got a response and it was the scheduler telling me she couldn't make that call and I would need to call her manager. Why, had I not already been given the managers number on such a hot mess of an installation I have no idea. I tried calling him and it went strait to VM, so I texted. He called me back within minutes and said "Hey, the installers don't have anything going on today would you like them to knock out the downstairs?" What? Yes, absolutely yes, please for the love of all things do that. Communication throughout the project on all fronts was terrible. I had to talk to over a dozen people to get this one job done. There is no one that owes you anything, they are all in a position to pass the buck. This was an ABSOLUTE nightmare. I lost thousands of dollars and many nights worth of sleep all because I chose Lowe's for my flooring installation. read more

My mom and I had to stop in here for a few things and the employees were very helpful as we were a bit lost at first. David, the Sales Floor Supervisor, knew what aisle everything was on by heart AND took us to it! We had help from other employees who were also very knowledgeable. There was only one employee who caught me off guard by her attitude but it didn't ruin the whole experience. We've purchased from here before and the quality lasts 16+ years. read more

Lowe's truly needs to better serve their community. The Main issue is the lack of qualified Subject Matter Experts (SME)s. It's unfortunate that they do not duplicate Home Depot's business model. Home Depot continues to improve their brand and ensure their workers have the knowledge necessary to assist the customers. I quick trip with my sister to begin the process of decorating her house. While there we saw a Charlie brown Christmas tree for $139. We brought a ladder, mailbox and light socket fixture. We saved 10% military discount and a 30% off house closing cost. We saved $40. Thank you Lowe's for discounts and our Christmas tree we will buy when we get back to Jacksonville. If I could give them a zero I definitely would. Forget about ordering online, only if you want to wait forever before they get an employee to help you. They are so undermanned and the way they treat their employees is horrible...as I witnessed it myself. I feel none of their employees are trained properly because they can never help you in a timely manner. They are always looking for someone else to take care of the situation, as they have not been shown how to do it....for example; ordering a door, flooring and even appliances. Lowe's cancelled my delivery without my input. My house was the next stop but not only did they not come, they rescheduled delivery of my refrigerator for next week. Meanwhile I got food that is going to spoil and a refrigerator that does not work. I told the driver to please come even if it was late because I needed the refrigerator tonight because I had nowhere to put my food. If you order online don't plan on getting your whole order in any reasonable amount of time . I ordered an entire set of new kitchen cabinets on Jan 10 , was supposed to be delivered on the 17th . I got about half my order on time , the rest according to the e mail would be delivered the following week on friday . I called Lowe's in Sumter, SC. The worst Lowe's. Never picked up the phone except to disconnect the call. It took a quick pick up and nothing. I stated, "Hello" but got a click. No reply. Nothing. I called back and the phone rang once and disconnected. I stayed on the line for 20 minutes waiting for an associate. The call back time was 52 minutes to an hour. The last time I counted 52 minutes is only 8 minutes from 60 minutes ( an hour). The worst service for Lowe's. Hartsville, Florence, and Ft. Worth, Texas all have great, prompt phone service for their customer. I should know since I have called to verify orders or sales. I recommend Never call Sumter's Lowe's in South Carolina! read more

Went in to get my daughter a patio set, they had nothing in stock and won't order anything for you. Asked about buying floor model and it was "we don't do that" in an angry voice. The sign may be on the door, but rest assured "MASK REQUIRED" is not upheld. Yesterday, Jan 16th, 2021 around 1:120 pm, I had occasion to visit. There was an older male wearing a camouflage Lowe's employee vest NOT WEARING A MASK. While I was there for more than 30 minutes, each time I saw him throughout the store, STILL NOT WEARING A MASK. The stock is okay if you know where to find it. The customer service in this store SUCKS! I'll briefly try and explain my last two visits. Today I had to load my own plywood as usual. There was an employee in the parking lot that basically watched me the entire time. When I finished loading this guy had made his way over and ask me, "Please return my cart to the loading area". Several days later I was looking for some wood siding. I gave the display number to the clerk and he told me it was an order only item and the price was actually $14.00 higher that the advertised price. Then he proceeded to tell my there was a 4 sheet minimum order and it would be about 2 weeks for delivery and a special delivery charge of $50.00 I searched Lowes.com and found the exact material, at the actual price of $35.99 compared to quoted price of $49.99, in stock at Lowes on Garners Ferry road in Columbia (about 35 miles away). I went to the Columbia store, bought what I needed and came home. On my next visit to this location, I mentioned this to the Sumter store and was told by a different clerk, "We did have the item in stock, just wasn't in the computer". By the way, the store in Columbia does help with the loading and also will return your cart for you. At this location, never expect to find more than two registers open during peak hours, but there will be many employees talking on cell phones in the store and counting nuts and bolts for inventory. Don't expect anyone to know where anything is located and be prepared to work from loading your purchases on your cart in the store to loading your car in the parking lot. This location is poorly managed. If you have the time and are making a major purchase, check the inventory and drive to the Columbia location. The cost of the extra gas is minor compared to the aggravation you will have at this store. read more

I Love Lowe's of Sumter. I can pretty much find what I need when I go in and the prices are pretty reasonable. The customer service is hit and miss but that is everywhere now days. Just have to remember that if you go in and are gonna need assistance that your gonna have to wait upwards of 15-20 minutes to start getting the help you need. The employees here and rude and racist. M Williams who works in customer service would not speak to my spouse and I. She had no problem helping every other guest of her color but was rude to us. She would not answer our questions, She walked away when we were speaking, She turned around from us to eat candy, She opened candy in front of us and was eating. It was very unprofessional and rude. Literally the worst store ever. The cashier we had NyAsia I believe her name was was super helpful and patient when the systems went offline. The management staff was of ZERO assistance when being ask questions on payment methods (business check). Every single thing I have ever bought from this store has messed up in some way! I literally drove an hour to buy a riding mower, get home and there's no battery in it! Call them and after pressing I have no clue how many departments, I finally talk to an actual person, her reply.... oh you can bring it back and get your money back! ARE YOU SERIOUS? I will never shop at the Lowe's in Sumter, SC again. Bought and paid for a Troy Pony riding lawnmower and scheduled it for delivery. The day before the delivery I went into the store to purchase a cover for the mower and stopped by the counter to verify the delivery time. The lady looks me up in the computer and says, "they don't have that mower in stock and the company wasn't making anymore". I told her there were 4 of them when I made the purchase and she said "yea there were a bunch in the back storage room too last week, whoever sold it to you messed the order up". I told her it was "you" that sold it to me and she said "oops, sorry". No further attempt to correct the issue just, "oops". I was so irritated that I just got a refund and left. The prices where pretty good for he washer and dryer, but then we didnt need the bells and whistles. Customer service and delivery SUCKS!!!!!! They told me AM and it has never been in the morning for them to show their pretty little faces. In store staff is freaking BUSY and they are kinda clueless. You are better off just doing TONS of research on your own then asking them questions. They couldn't tell me the difference between a porcelain and plastic tub or my washer. I go here a lot. It's great if you know what you're looking for and it is in stock (and they have a lot in stock). Customer service isn't that great. They try, but fall short of the mark. Seems like the staff just isn't that knowledgeable about the products they are selling. And sometimes, staff is either too busy or isn't around to assist. For nursery needs, I'd much rather drive out of town where I know I'm going to get personalized service. And for appliances, there are places in-town that will take much better care of you at competitive prices. But like I said, they have a lot in stock. And if I'm working on a home-improvement project, I always end up dropping a pretty penny here as it saves me a trip to Columbia or Florence. read more
