this is our third year coming to this and it seems that Shane has an issue with us very discrimination always coming to us about something and tells us we can't have two vehicles when there's multiple Campgrounds campsites here at Lloyd Park have more than two vehicles and makes us move one vehicle everybody else that has more than two or two we like this part some of the rules here shouldn't be this strict for us campers that come here when we have grandkids that come here with us another vehicle and we make them walk so far away just to come to our campground. We can't even have a tent and our campsite might as well go back to Hickory Creek more better more nicer people. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone if you have grandkids and if you have other parties coming to your campground because Shane will make you has nothing better to do, but then sit there and look and stare at you and we'll stick up for anybody else and say and lie to your face that other neighbors have tag on their car when they don't ... This is a beautiful park. The lake and river are beautiful. We were there while the blue bonnets were blooming. (mid April) There are a few downsides though. The sewer was running uphill for where the RV had to be parked. It made it very difficult to get the sewer drained at the campsite. We were there for 2 weeks, so had to dump several times. This was a bit of a pain. The bathrooms could be better. Suggestion would be a bench for each of the shower stalls - across from them so people have a place to keep their things dry while showering. The water stream is like a weak garden hose. It could be upgraded with a different kind of shower head. Recommend anyone going for any period of time, keep their food in their cars. The squirrels are very blatant about getting into things - not shy with humans at all. Very economical if you are tent camping. We had a car and tow dolly and were charged for the tow dolly as well, which seemed a bit like overkill. read more

Loyd Park - Lakeside Sunrise - Parks Near Me - Grand Prairie, Texas

Since the park is only around 30 minutes from home, it is one of our favorite RV spots to go to for a quick long weekend getaway. The park is always kept in tiptop shape and is patrolled on a regular basis by the park rangers as well as, sometimes, the Grand Prairie police. This is a City of Grand Prairie park. The newest addition to the park is a group lodge for large gatherings. For a couple of decades, I have led many large RV rallies at the park. They have wonderful group loops with campsites surrounding the loops. Each of the group loops has a covered pavilion in the center for the loops use. Loyd Park is wonderful, very inviting was a warm and helpful staff. read more

Went to Forest of Fear 2023. Such poor planning...after we went through the entrance booth we were directed left, we went through 2 loops which our kids enjoyed, it took a little over an hour, then the road lead us back past the entrance booth. We waited 2 hours and 30 min in a line to drive through the other side of the park and never even made it near any loops. The line was not moving and people were waiting outside of their cars. Overall we spent over 4 hours and saw maybe 1/3 of the attraction. Overall this years event was not planned well at all. An employee explained he thought maybe people were stopping the line talking to friends at the campsites?! We go to this event yearly and this year was horrible! read more

Our son lives in Grand Prairie and we usually stay in a hotel when we fly out from California to visit. This trip we were bringing our 6 year old grandson so he could see his uncle and see real cowboys down at the stockyard district. I googled alternatives to hotel since we had an active little one.Boy am I happy I stumbled on this place. Every employee that we came in contact with was amazing. From the lovely woman in the office that took my reservation, who was so sweet . The gentleman at the gate that greeted us , checked us in ,that was warm and welcoming. We had interaction with two employees in the camp store who also were so lovely. The rangers that waved as they drove through the campgound. We stayed in a two bedroam cabin on the water. It was named Gulf Coast site 174. The cabin was so cute and clean. The view out to the lake was amazing. They gave us plenty of bath towels. It was roomey enough for 4 adults and 1 child. The kitchen was pretty well stocked. I would suggest a can opener be added. Also we were there 3 days can I suggest 3 rolls TP 3 rolls papertowels and 3 trash bags. We never made it to the Stockyard district. Once we got to the cabin My grandson didnt want to leave. He fished , swam in the lake for hours , flew kites in the grass and played with other kids in the campground. So much to do here. The rangers patroled often. We had no issues with noise near us. We were up late roasting marshmellows around the fire like so many others but every one was quiet and respectful. Down on the water the Grand Prairie police came by often as well . We will be staying here instead of a hotel from now on. read more

Came here for the weekend with some friends.... Loyd Park has become our new destination when in the DFW area. Really great place for spur of the moment camping for a night or the weekend... There are covered picnic tables and each site and the covers seem to either be newly down or very well maintained. Fire pit is a bit of a issue at some sites. They are very low with little safety in mind. There is a small convenient store in case you forgot something. As well as a restaurant bar at the marina near by. Each pavilion has a grill. Great for anyone of all ages or events big and small. The bathrooms were clean enough with showers. They have movies on the beach in the summer and a nice big lake & beach area..... Bring bug repellent, the mosquito's are huge and plentiful! read more

Money hungry is all I can say about this place, used to go here every summer and seen the prices go up over the years. Taxing for holidays charging for every individual. Update: we were offered a half refund, changed stars to 3 because it was still a bad experience but they did honor our request. We stayed in the new "glamping" yurt and it was a terrible experience. It's made for 2 people, but when I called saying there's a group of 4 girls they made it seem like it isn't a big deal as long as we don't hold a party and mess up the place. It's a glamping experience, we should be their target market, yet the whole time we were there they made it clear we are not welcome and they want us gone. They literally told us they only want couples staying there, not us. So we were already super uncomfortable during our stay. Next, there was no WiFi even though they clearly advertise WiFi. We specifically chose a place with WiFi so we could do some work. When we told them, they insinuated that we stole the router...why would we steal a router??! I think they never had one in the first place. They also never installed one while we were there, so I still think there is no router there and no WiFi and they don't plan on putting one in. They tried to make up for it by giving us a key to a WiFi area, but then we ended up spending our entire vacation in the WiFi area and not the yurt. They told us they would "obviously give us a discount" the first day, and then refused to give us one the last day. We were trying to be flexible with them but they treated us so rudely and like we were so unwelcome, it was genuinely the worst park experience I've ever had and I'm not one to write bad reviews. On top of that, there are bugs that burrow in the wood at the yurt and you can hear them crunching all night, and in the morning there is sawdust all over the floor from their chewing. We told them that and they said they know, and pretty much deal with it because we are in nature. I know we are, but don't try to sell a glamping experience for $250 a night and also tell us to deal with the burrowing beetles while treating us unkindly and falsely advertise WiFi and expect us to just brush off the experience. Their response was that there are not supposed to be 4 people so they won't discount us as we were previously told. Well, they were being very ambiguous about it when we asked about the situation so it honestly felt like it was okay, and when we told them that they asked who we talked to in order to target the employee. It was so awkward and unkind and I felt such a terrible vibe from the management. I'm just honestly so shocked at how we were treated, I genuinely never want to go there again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. read more

Top rated We camped over the weekend with NTCR's group. Clean restrooms. Camp sites are cleaned and washed down before you get to them. Looks of great sites. Trees and/or lake views. Nice staff too. Will definitely make this a good to camping stop. read more

I have updated my review after I was spoken to and given an apology for my disturbing Experience with one of the grounds keepers. No place is perfect and at least they called me about it. Right on Lake Joe Pool! This park is part of the system of parks around Lake Joe Pool in Grand Prairie (another is Lyn Creek Park and marina area.) There is a $10 vehicle entry fee or you can buy a pass - just realize this is a county park so the pass only works at this park. Note: the fees increase on holidays and the limit is 6 people per vehicle. The rangers are super nice and helpful both when you come in and at the store. They will answer all of your questions and provide you with maps. When you first come in there is a public beach and picnic area. On the grassy area by the lake they have volleyball set up, there is a playground and a swimming area. In this area across the parking lot there is a store where you can buy some food and supply items as well as rent kayaks. The kayak rental is reasonable and there are suggested scenic paddles. As you drive further in you will pass the campground, ramp area and hiking trail options as the park wraps around Lake Joe Pool. The campground is very nice and open. You can also rent cabins facing the water if you prefer. This is a really great park and the lake access is terrific! read more

For anyone who wants to stay more than a night or two beware! They only have one loop in the park with full hook ups, and these sites are never available online because the "" hosts who live here full-time reside in them.They do have a few scattered sites and other loops with a connection but these sites also are blocked online and are only available by specific request in the office at a higher price and only win not already reserved by a "" friend of the Park staff: Honestly what makes this so bad is because with no full hook ups means you can't use your own facilities you have to use theirs, and they have worse restrooms then a prison! Unusable! They have also raised prices park wide over a year ago to cover the upcoming expense of adding full hook ups to all sites: which construction hasn't even yet begun in anyyway! SO YOU PAy for FULL HOOK UPS HERE Just DONT GET A SPOT WITH ONE! And never will unless your in good Witt them! Oh and don't get on their bad side in any way cause they'll run your ass out and harass you relentlessly! Also you can stay two weeks and then must leave for TWO WEEKS BEFORE COMING BACK EVEN WHEN THENPARK IS EMPTY! We had a wonderful 4night/5 day camping trip at Loyd Park last week. The campsites are very wooded and shady, making our travel trailer's A/C not have to work as hard as usual. The camping spots are big and each one has its own wonderful covered picnic table. Our wifi/hotspot worked perfectly so my husband could get some work done during the week. We really enjoyed swimming as well. The lake water was cool and very refreshing! Everything was very clean and well-kept. Our cost was $22.50 per night that included a 10% off Good Sam discount. Then there was a $2 per person per day Senior Citizen fee that equaled $16. So all total $90 plus $16 equals $106 divided by 4 nights was $26.50 per night. We had fun! Thank you! (There is major construction on Ragland Rd right now. The road was a little hairy coming in with a 28' travel trailer on a one way pot-hole filled road. So I'm giving it less than 5 stars due to access right now. It WILL get better as they finish construction....soon I hope!) read more
