I saw an add for a class on Facebook... it was like it was calling TO ME! Did I want to learn how…read moreto use my DSLR camera better (...ok, ok, AT ALL!!!) And how to do so out of 'AUTO' mode...? I sure heck did!!! Catch that?! I said 'DID'!!!! I didn't inquire about the class, just signed up; so my assumption of it being a big class and not a more intimate setting, was way Off! When I arrived I was surprised that I was 1 of 5! Unfortunately the 6th lady wasn't feeling well enough to attend. Class was held in a Mom based center, but more of a yoga studio that has mom to be, & mommy and me services/classes. It's beautiful. Casey had folding chairs and class materials for each of us. I opted to sit on a yoga mat on the floor with a floor chair that was surprisingly amazing! (I only mention it to let you know more about what is available, than my pickiness! Lol) She also provided snacks, & drinks. The class is 4 hours and extremely helpful! I learned about many different aspects of my camera that I just wasn't taking into consideration, or really even knew existed! Casey made sure to get down on each persons level to help find certain switches, that vary between not only brand but model of each camera! I had no idea! She's also there to help you understand and answer and all questions you might have. I believe there were 3-4 exercises/assignments that we got up and out of the room to physically go do outside. Over all the class was extremely informative and I can't wait to see what I can produce with my new found knowledge! I would absolutely recommend.

I had taken one photography class before and left the class feeling defeated. The instructor was not teaching to what my needs were. I am a Mom so having an instructor that was a Mom and could explain the basics in an easy and condensed manner made all the difference. In the past 6 months since taking the class I have taken many amazing photography of my family with my DSLR that I may have just taken with my phone before. I am glad to have these special memories. Thanks Casey for being a wonderful teacher!

Our guide and instructor took our small group into places I never would have imagined inside the Preserve. While I was expecting to have a little bit of our time focused on the educational aspects of post-production, it turned out that we were split our time about 50-50 between editing and going out into the field and taking photos which was perfect for me. The small class size provided ample one-on-one mentoring with a certified instructor who was able to teach us many of the best-practices on image handling and post processing. Not only did I come back with some great images to send to the print shop and share with my family and friends on social media, but I returned with new editing skills and a fresh workflow combining LightRoom with Photoshop. Simply put it was an amazing trip, I learned more in 5 days than I had in the last year of taking classes and weekend workshops. The whole experience was customized to the needs of the group, starting with the phone calls before the trip to discuss what I wanted to accomplish, through adjusting the schedule while we were in the Preserve, and the follow-up calls afterwords. Small group size, 1 on 1 mentoring, trip tailored to the individual needs and desires of our group, instructor knew the area extremely well including knowing what time of day to be where to capture the right light on the scenes. Still riding the photo high from a trip that ended a month ago. Can't wait to attend my next expedition, probably one of the Utah trips whether it's Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, or Grand Staircase-Escalante. And I'm definitely going back to the Mojave National Preserve.

I would definitely recommend this to any photographer, young and old, for an unforgettable time in some of our nation's most beloved parks.
