FRAUD LP&L utilities is denying to provide water to our residence. LP&L has DOUBLE charged us and we refuse to pay for service we have already paid for. LP&L refuses to put the water in the name of the person on our lease because of this outstanding balance that is NOT related to her. LP&L gave NO notice or warning and refused to answer questions when they did turn it off. On top of this, they REFUSE to let us pay for our bill by not setting up an account in our name. and we were LIED to by Brianna H when we visited the office in person. Her supervisor Christie was unbelievably rude when she finally stopped dodging our phone calls. We are now being charged for tampering with the water meter THAT THEIR WORKER TOOK!! and again they are refusing to turn our water on until this tampering charge is paid!! This is in direct violation of the Public Utility Commission of Texas. There are two small children living in the house and this is a HUGE safety concern that LP&L does NOT CARE ABOUT. They are a monopoly and NEED TO BE BROKEN UP!! They do NOT care about the residents of Lubbock Texas!! We have set up a meeting with the mayor this is NOT okay and this company needs to be stopped! This is the worst company in LUBBOCK TEXAS. You call to request the disconnect date to cancel and move back home since your done with college. You think you paid your last bill. Oh no!!! 4 years later a bill shows up on your credit for $600 light bill. You call to to figure out what's going on. "Well sir we never got a phone call or paid so after a few months we disconnected the electric".... WTF?!? Why not disconnect after the first month? Or second month?! God knows when I lived there for college and was one day late they blew my phone up but when you move out and you disconnect they "never knew" so they didn't call. Horrible company. Customer service you wait forever in the phone for them to be rude and unhelpful. Called about setting up service and they told me what I needed to submit. I brought it in and then they had me going on a wild goose chase to do 4 more different things they didn't mention before. They love to waste peoples time. read more

It was a sad day when Southwestern Public Service was no longer an available electric provider. LPL has never been anywhere near the impeccable service always given by SPS and clearly never will. Starting with the arrogant spokesperson ROSE who seems to consider himself a gifted celebrity and an asset (he is only the first three letters of the word). Out of curiosity, what becomes of the profits generated by this "customer owned" company? Do they go into some discretionary spending account, which is ultimately used to fund some undisclosed pet project? In closing, LPL rates, customer service, attitudes, competence, and general operation has always been pathetic and the pending changes are long overdue. I only hope that the new providers have the sense to not hire any LPL staff, who need to be kicked to the curb and without the typical "golden parachute" severance and retirement plans generally provided to government employees. Do not think that I am simply another disgruntled customer as, with no choice, I have tolerated the on-going repugnant offerings of LPL for as long as they have been the only game in town. This place is horrendous. Overpriced electric. You pay for "waste water management" which feels like nothing more than paying for (free) evaporation while the flood in front of your home, apartment, or business goes nowhere since there is no real sewer system in Lubbock. Customer service is laughable. The poor agents forced attempts to convince LP&L customers that they've "misread" their bills. lol No, it's obvious we hadn't. However LP&L charges the customer to prove the company is wrong. Additionally, the company is in the news for customer complaints, corruption, even a Change.org petition over the prices. I think the citizens of Lubbock are close to boiling. Wait until someone organizes a boycott, class-action lawsuit, or something similar until you even half-heartedly think of using this power company. read more

Solar panels are the way to go if you live in lubbock. Since i've had mine installed i'm not at the mercy of the monopoly anymore so my bill was eliminated with LP&L. read more

As our only provider of electricity here in Lubbock, LP&L is once again increasing their prices drastically. My current bill for January is more than half of the rent that I pay at my apartment complex. It's now $430. And our electricity usage has not changed hardly at all. Once again, LP&L is stealing money from their customers because we have no one else that we can get our electricity from. When you contact them, they just give you the run around and lame excuses. Yes, I turned up my heater 2 degrees more the week before Christmas when it was negative 2 degrees outside. Now I've had to turn my heater down to 65 degrees, my son and I are wearing sweats and I've had to order an electric blanket on Amazon. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if LP&L is the reason that a lot of houses and apartment complexes are catching on fire again. We're all having to look for alternate ways to stay warm because LP&L is obsessed with overcharging us and stealing money from us again. Yes, they've done this before. They're greedy and they don't care about their customers at all, even when it's negative 2 degrees outside. read more
