I was so overdue for updated headshots so I finally bit the bullet and booked a session. I find it…read morehard to be very decisive on looks for myself (it's hard to figure out your type especially as you keep changing in looks!) so I brought over two bags full of options, and the team was happy to give me their thoughts and opinions. A few things I really enjoyed about the session: - Deeter Photos is a team of 2 so one is always behind the camera and the other helping you fix your hair / outfit. It felt so good to know that they were communicating to make sure I looked presentable and at my best! At previous headshot sessions, I have no idea what kind of flyaways or bra straps I have hanging out that end up being throwaway shots OR I'm concerned about these things and am unable to solely focus on posing. - Easy going and relaxed vibes. Their studio is attached to their home, and the team is a couple so everything felt so lax and comfortable rather than a cold studio session. Headshots are really uncomfortable for me so this was so extremely helpful. They also have a well lit bathroom that I was able to dip into a couple times to touch up my makeup as well. - Really budget friendly. Headshots tend to be pricey, but turns out Deeter Photos had student actors and new actors in mind when they opened up their business. So they offer really great prices for their session. It's helpful to know I can afford to get new headshots every time I change up my look rather than hold onto old headshots because of costs. - Cats. They have two. One joined our session. She was so…read morefriendly and personable, made all of the guests feel really comfortable - that seemed to be the key to getting them to forget she was there and just be natural, which is just what we wanted. I'm a photographer myself, so I was really picky about who we chose as The One for our big day - I'm really happy with my choice. Her style is very natural, and not at all cheesy or posed, and the woman as a wonderfully creative mind! She brought a vintage Polaroid camera and used that throughout the night, creating pictures with the Polaroids in them, and then also leaving me with a big stack of fun pictures to look at the next day!! Stephanie captured unusual angles too, but they didn't look like they were trying too hard to be artsy or cool - just a perfect blend of unique and natural. I can't say enough good things! To top things off, our whole wedding was posted and ready for us to see BEFORE we were back from our week long honeymoon. How awesome is that?! They were all either completely out of focus, over-exposed, badly composed, or some combination of all the above. And I mean the posed photos are out of focus. What kind of professional photographer can't take a picture of people standing still in focus? She acted completely miserable at our wedding and I thought ok, she's unpleasant but hopefully the pictures would be ok. They're not. I would much rather leave her a 5 star review and have pictures of my special day I could cherish but now I'll have to rely on the couple of shots my friends took and always regret hiring Stephanie. I'm glad other reviewers were happy with their results and I don't know, maybe she was having a bad day, but I would hate for her to have a bad day at someone else's wedding and give them completely unusable photos like ours. Kelly arrived promptly on the day of and immediately got to work. She was never obtrusive while getting shots done. She works in a business-like and professional manner with a lot of sensitivity to the wedded couple. Family photos were a bit of a hassle because our family members kept wandering off or not listening to directions- Kelly handled them with patience and tolerance and we got the shots we wanted! I really loved working with Kelly when it was just the couple photos. She was really great at directing us and getting the photos we will treasure forever. I was very nervous about having to be photographed all day but she put me completely at ease and would show us shots on the digital camera just to keep us involved with how the photos were looking. At the reception she did a magnificent job of capturing the special moments on the dance floor without ever interrupting things- she would see a moment happening a capture it right there! This is different from my experience at other weddings where the photographers are in the way or trying to get guests to recreate a candid moment.
