Minimal breaks however go at your own pace. I attended the Box N Glow class so the lights were off and I feel like it took the pressure off of looking like a beginner or getting tired mid way through class. This event was to fundraiser and build awareness to the special Olympics Organization for Howard county. There were snacks, a mocktail and a two free raffle tickets to enter a for vouchers to a plethora of places from game night to spa days. It was an extremely well organized event with awesome staff. This is my second time using Groupon here. The Groupon will last you for 4 months for 30 days of kickboxing class including a pair of gloves. You can come any day you want, make sure check their website for their time schedule. The schedule are different than last year I was here. All of the instructors are really nice. You can practice at your pace. If you have kids or you want to do martial art, they have a very good program here as I can tell (I don't know how much does it cost but it seems fun). Highly recommend if you are around this area. I wish they have another location near me so I don't need to drive this far to be here.

Karen was extremely nice and was helpful by giving the few of us that arrived early the opportunity to get our nerves down and let us know what to expect. That one-on-one time with her was unexpected but very welcoming. She even brought in peppermint essential oil to help us with any potential motion sickness. The class had its moments where poses were a little difficult, but we encouraged one another and Karens support made a difference. There were poses that came effortlessly as well and overall it was a great experience. There was a group of friends there that enjoyed the experience and although the studio is not close by, I'll be inviting some friends to join me for the class in the near future.

Recently, I was in the market for trying something new because Groupon adventures add interest to my life. This was one of them. 1st day of instruction went something like this: We show up, do some basic movements, pair up, practice, and somewhere in between we switch partners and I am paired with a 200lb wrestler. HAH! After getting shaken around a bit, still scared out of my mind and questioning my choices up to that point, I got a great workout, a load of information, and some very useful self-defense moves. Bless these guys for going easy on me because I do not have any sort of muscle definition. I bet if I come here often enough I can one day overtake them because BJJ is more so about skill than it is about strength. The instructor Josh was very patient with us. We came in with no experience and he was able to skillfully show us how to do BJJ even if it took a couple of times. Can't say this type of workout is for everyone since it's a full contact sport but, was very fun and an incredible workout. Would highly recommend this place to anyone, amateur or pro who wants to improve their skill because the skills you learn are definitely useful. Keep in mind this place is not aesthetically pleasing and not the cleanest because people keep sweating profusely but, it's still a great learning experience with awesome people who know their craft so, that's why I gave it 5 stars. I attended several upper level classes at Watchdog, as well as the cardio kickboxing classes and definitely enjoyed them. Those cardio kickboxing classes were super challenging and fun. The upper level classes were great as well, though I noticed minute differences in the Watchdog techniques than what I'd previously learned. I liked the Watchdog take on things, but had a hard time transitioning my style after having slightly different training for so long. Despite this, I thoroughly enjoyed the martial arts classes, and the instructors were as nice and welcoming as they were experts in the discipline. It reminded me of better times at my past gym, and I felt good whenever I was at Watchdog. Alas, by the time I signed up with Watchdog, I was burned out on the discipline, and I ended up canceling my contract. However, if I ever get the urge to do Krav again, Watchdog is where I will go. Definitely recommend.

And as soon as we met him, we knew Coach Crawford was no joke. We signed our contracts immediately. I cannot speak more highly of Coach Crawford. He is as legit as it gets. I personally had not worked out in about one year and thought I was going to die after the first class!!!! This is not your typical boxing class where you just do a lot of cardio and hit a bag every once in a while- he treats everyone in his gym as if they are going to fight in a championship. One of the things I love the most is that he is more focused on you doing things right and having good form than anything else. Classes go anywhere from 1.5-2 hours. If you are looking to get in shape and master a skill, this is the place to come.

I've been doing CrossFit for almost 3 years and recently made the decision to switch boxes; it was…read moregetting difficult to make my way into the city to work out every morning, and with my better half in law school every night, I needed a bit more flexibility in my life. CrossFit Catonsville is very close to home, they have a great class schedule (especially for a smaller gym), and kickboxing and yoga are included in their membership! Chris, the owner and head coach, is awesome; I find that his style of coaching is very focused on technique and he has lots of suggestions on how to scale WODs with the goal of getting stronger, not just finishing a workout. I've already PR'd on several lifts in the past month at CFC. Eric and Susan are also fantastic coaches, and I've really benefitted from some of the pointers and suggestions they have made. As anyone who does CrossFit will tell you, the community aspect is what keeps folks coming back for more. The people here are AMAZING and friendly, and I have felt so welcome from the beginning. This is a great box for people who have been doing CrossFit for a while, and an excellent box for beginners. The prices are really fair, and, as previously mentioned, you have a few other options for how to get a good workout in with kickboxing and yoga!
