I have had the honor to work with West Coast Recovery Centers for the last several years…read more They have an excellent clinical team and are compassionate about helping others find their own path in recovery, meaning they treat each of those they serve as individuals. I have kept in contact with several individuals who have been through "West Coast" over the years and all of them have had nothing but good things to say and attribute the guidance they received to this program. I know when someone enters this program they will be treated respectfully and with compassion, yet be challenged to begin the hard work that is required in early recovery. If you are considering this to be an option for substance use treatment, reach out to Evan in the admissions department and allow him to invite you in to show you and have you meet the West Coast family.

Michael is worthless and just wants to be liked. They let some clients use drugs in the house and kick out others for no reason with no explanation or warning. Hanna is cold and insensitive and made no attempt to try and help me. I stayed sober at west coast in spite of the staff and clinic. My fellow patients kept me sober. Don't go to west coast if you want a supportive environment.

Worst experience! I…read morehad an emergency surgery & was too weak to go home from the hospital 1) I was told Dr. Novac was my doctor while at the facility. Dr. Novac visited me once after I was admitted & barked questions at me. A couple of days later, there was confusion on my new prescriptions & I was concerned about my abdominal surgical site. I requested to talk to him again he refused to meet with me in the 11 days I was there. Husband called facility asking to speak to him & was told it wasn't permitted. (Red Flag) 2) Not once but twice, I had to correct 2 different CNA's? Nurses? about my meds being changed. In fact, I was already given meds that I wasn't supposed to take & I brought it up but was told I was mistaken. The young man who dispensed the meds, double checked & later apologized. The 2nd time it was a nurse, she argued with me, went out & grabbed the blister pack of pills to prove she was right & I had to point the name of meds on package & show her she was calling the meds by the wrong name! That was where the confusion was, both meds started with the same 2 letters. Scary! These are supposed to be professionals. 3) In 11 days, I was moved THREE times to 3 different rooms! I'm supposed to be resting to get stronger to go home. In all fairness, I initially requested to be moved to a quieter spot. The door to the rooms are generally left open & I had a light shining in my eyes all night long plus was in a very noisy busy area & they did move me in a day or 2. I was so grateful. This room was more quiet But every time the bathroom door was opened the stench of MOLD was super strong. I noticed there was a hole in the drywall under the sink & towels wrapped around pipes under the sink. One day, I had to let a cna know there was water on the bathroom floor which was mopped. Safety Issue! A few days later!! I was moved yet again. 3) In each room there are 3 beds. 1 bathroom. WARNING! It is not unusual for your roommate to be a sundowner. Be prepared for screaming and disruptive behavior all night. Nurses also come in the room at all hours to change their diaper and of course the lights go on & disrupt any sleep you might get. They are not quiet, either. I can't begin to tell you how anxious & stressed I became. Even with earplugs lights being shined all hours was so disruptive to sleeping. 4) Physical therapist & occupational therapists were very nice. However, I was super weak, had to use a walker, just had abdominal surgery & after a couple of sessions, I was so sore that I had to take tylenol and place ice on my abdomen for a few hours for 2 days. Knowing this, they continued to nudge me to do the exercises until I mentioned it to the head of the department in passing, then the exercises did become lighter. I was told by both therapists at different times I should have told them I was in pain during the session. But I tried to to tell them the discomfort did not happen during the sessions. Knowing how weak I was plus just having abdominal surgery possibly from the beginning warranted a gentler approach. 5) I had noticed that some "problem patients" would use the call button repeatedly for the nurses with stupid questions, etc. They were eventually ignored. But there is something so disturbing about hearing someone yell "NURSE" sometimes for hours. I was so stressed out. I was determined to be a good patient while here. It was clear to me that this facility was extremely understaffed. But ONE day I really needed to speak to a nurse. ONE DAY out of 11 days I pushed the nurse button only to be told the nurse would be right in. An hour later, I pushed the button & was told the nurse just had her break but would be right in. An hour later I tried again and was told yet another excuse. Nurse never came, I gave up and the next morning she came in to see what i wanted the night before without much interest. Very disappointing & frustrating. 6) Not always, but for the most part the food was less than cafeteria food. Some meals were ok. You fill out a meal form when you get there. I tried cold cereal for breakfast & it upset my stomach. I told 2 different people and also filled out another form but continued to get the food I couldn't eat. Sometimes, my roommate got my food by mistake and I got theirs. That's my experience. I hope it helps someone. In my case I was discharged from the hospital unexpectedly & my husband was contacted by a social worker or insurance agent (?) & was told I was going to La Paloma. This all happened within a couple of hours. Knowing what we know now, check with your insurance & see which facilities are covered. And if possible check the reviews. This was our first experience with a nursing facility and I'm not sure if they are all this bad, but it was a horrible experience.

Although the building is old, they are freshening it up, and it is very clean. Everyone there from the MDs, NP, PAs, nurses, OT, PT, speech therapist, CNAs, and housekeeping were beyond great. All showed a level of expertise, patience, and kindness. No matter how busy or sometimes understaffed the personnel were, not once did anyone act like helping out was a bother. All were pleasant, and happy. Oh, and my mom loved the food too (and she's a picky eater).

wanted to share my experience with Mindful Body Recovery, particularly for anyone considering it…read morefor D.O.T. compliance. My experience has been extremely frustrating, and I would strongly advise against going here if your situation involves D.O.T. requirements. The urine testing process is questionable at best. They lost two of my tests, and another was mishandled by being left unrefrigerated. My date of birth was incorrect on every test, even after I repeatedly pointed it out, and the collection dates were consistently wrong as well. I was frequently given sample bottles with no name on them, and there was no proper chain of custody form provided, which raises serious concerns about the integrity of the testing process. It also feels like they keep clients enrolled longer than necessary. On top of that, my insurance was billed for two therapy sessions that I never attended. Eliot, the director, has been a major issue. He consistently drops the ball on paperwork, provides misleading information, and often does not have answers to questions you would expect a director to know. It has been two weeks, and he still has not returned a call to my SAP counselor, likely because it relates to my discharge. He also bragged in group how he got into a fist fight with his neighbors son and slapped the mom as well during a confrontation he had. Nicolas, who runs the group sessions, is the one positive part of the program. He genuinely seems to care about the people there, and I have nothing negative to say about him. Angel, the therapist, seems capable, but when concerns are raised about issues within the program, the response is to "focus on yourself," which avoids accountability. I am still waiting on a reply to a message I sent five days ago, which again seems to be ignored because it involves discharge. Megan, the owner, appears friendly but seems largely uninvolved in addressing these operational problems. Overall, my experience has been disorganized, unprofessional, and concerning--especially given how important accuracy and accountability are in a D.O.T.-related program

I'm posting not as a patient- but as a PARENT of a patient. THIS TREATMENT WORKS! IT SAVED MY SON'S…read moreLIFE!! IT GAVE US OUR SON BACK!!! I found this Treatment Center online and was very scared to call; mostly because I wanted to help save my son from Opioid addiction so much that I was ready to believe anything I was told. From the get-go when Josh answered the call he made me feel comfortable and answered ALL my questions. He understood this was going to be a process and made himself available for any ongoing questions I would have or my son would have. He responded to all of my texts and calls without hesitation. The intake process was very discreet. Normally they pick up patients at the airport and drive them into Tijuana/ Rosarito; but we decided to drive my son all the way there to see the clinic with our own eyes. Aeden and the staff were extremely welcoming and had no problems inviting us in. I don't think it's very common to have families take their patient all the way there; but they never made us feel uncomfortable. Once there Aeden explained the reason the intake process is so discreet; it makes sense. They were very respectful of my son's addiction and never made him feel judged. Aeden took the time to answer our questions and address our concerns while at the same time making my son feel welcomed and (more importantly) understood. We later met Dr Casillas who (again) explained the process. The doc gave our son a full medical review to make sure the treatment was safe for him. The clinic administrator (Valeria) is super nice and was very respectful when it came to handling the payment for the treatment. We even met their doggo- Pancho! The treatment center/ house is very clean and comfortable. They have a full time chef that makes the patients anything they want! They have a large TV with Netflix and even an Xbox. They gave us the WiFi password within the first few minutes. They'll feel right at home while they're there. The view of the ocean is amazing. The beach isn't really accessible but they are a few hundred yards away- so the beach breeze and smell is always enjoyed. They have a heated spa and a sauna room available. We nervously left our son in their hands; but we felt a lot more confident about the center, staff and treatment. Our son stayed for one week (7 days). They housed him, fed him, treated him and cured his addiction pains & withdrawals! My son was allowed a phone so he was always a phone call, text or FaceTime away. They kept us in the loop at all times too. Aeden texted me before, during and after his treatment. By the end of the week my son only spoke praises of Aeden and the entire nursing staff. You could immediately notice that he was transformed by this experience. My son even told me with a huge smile, "It worked!!" He now has a REAL chance at getting his life back and beating his addiction permanently with ongoing behavioral therapy. Experience Ibogaine is the real deal! They genuinely care about their patients. Compared to other places I researched- they are the most affordable. Josh, Aeden, Valeria and the entire staff are great people. If you have a family member that struggles with addiction or you are struggling with addiction- I pray you are able to go to "Experience Ibogaine"!!

My family member was moved here to their sober living home from the Dana Point rehab campus I guess…read morebecause our insurance ran out after 3 weeks (by the way we have amazing PPO insurance.) I was not notified they were moving him and a few days later when I went there to pick him up for a Doctor's appointment not one person was wearing a mask (Psychologist's, Counselors, Office Staff, Van Drivers, etc.) and this was in June 2020 at the height of Covid-19! I removed him from this place immediately and he is now in a professional environment, Casa Recovery, where the price we paid for one week will cover 90 days, and where they take Covid-19 seriously as well as the recovery of their patients. Then, to add insult to injury, I was sent a bill for $1,000 for less than a week in this sober living hell hole. They charged our insurance $2,680 a day for boarding, $1,877 for outpatient group therapy and $1,838 for outpatient individual. All for less than 1 week! Stay away from this place or at least get your costs in writing before you go!
