I had high hopes for this shop when I first went in for my consultation back in September. I was beyond excited to start my sleeve and even put down $2,500 (though I was only asked for $1,500) as a show of good faith that I was serious about this project. We scheduled multiple appointments, with the first set for February. The day of my appointment was the beginning of a huge disappointment. I arrived early, at 9:40 AM, and saw Jared go inside just before 10:00 AM. I gave it a few minutes before heading in myself, where I was handed a tablet to sign paperwork. I skimmed through the first few lines--standard care and liability waivers--but given the sheer volume, I just signed them, expecting to get started soon. Instead, at 10:15 AM, Jared's DoorDash order arrived. At that point, I was thinking, Maybe eat before your scheduled appointment? Still, I stayed patient. By 10:50 AM, Jared finally came out looking frazzled, blaming "computer issues." At this point, I had been waiting for nearly an hour with zero communication--not the level of professionalism I'd expect from a shop where I planned to spend thousands of dollars. To make matters worse, when Jared finally showed me the design, it was not what I had requested or envisioned. It was very close but did not flow well. Important details I had asked for were missing, and when I pointed this out, instead of collaborating. Some of my other requests were treated as an inconvenience rather than creative direction for my tattoo. At this point, I was still trying to stay calm, but then came the real kicker: Jared claimed there wasn't enough time to even outline the tattoo. Keep in mind, this was a 10:00 AM - 5:30 PM appointment. How does an artist who booked a full day suddenly not have enough time at 11:00 AM? Then, an issue that should have been discussed months ago suddenly came up: my arm had a scar from a prior surgery (which was already there at my consultation), and now I was being told I might have to wait two years before getting the tattoo over the scar. That would have been great information to know upfront instead of on the day of my appointment. But I do feel like the consultation was rushed and left I left without getting tattooed after taking the day off work and driving 1.5 hours. Frankly, after seeing how rushed and cluttered the design looked, I felt somewhat relieved. But then I kept looking at the design and something about it seemed oddly familiar--so I did a quick Google search for "gears." Boom. First page. The central part of Jared's design was straight-up clip art. At that point, I knew this wasn't the right artist for me. I called the shop back, politely explained that I didn't feel confident moving forward with Jared, and fairly offered to let them keep $500-$1,000 for their time, but asked for the rest to be refunded since I had fulfilled my obligation by showing up on time. Their response? No refund. They claimed Jared's entire day was taken by my appointment (again, the same artist who had no time to do an outline?). They offered only $640 in credit with another artist--but after this experience, why would I want to come back? I was then reminded that I had signed something saying that any money I gave them was gone. Of course, no one had explained that policy to me beforehand. Luckily, I paid with AMEX. I disputed the charge and, thanks to their protection plan, I got my money back to take elsewhere. Bottom line: This shop had the chance to handle this professionally, and they chose not to. Just because you copy and paste images on a tablet doesn't make you a designer--Canva has a free account for that. read more

They said that my tattoo would be $1600. They asked for half just to schedule, which I paid. They couldn't schedule me for 2 months. Before that time I lost my job. I asked for a refund and was told no. I asked to reschedule and was told no. She said that she would try to fill the spot and if she could then she would reschedule me. She didn't fill the spot even though I gave her 6 weeks notice. She said that she was only able to partly fill it and basically stole $600 from me. Then I asked for the other $200 to be refunded and she said that it would stay on my account for a year at which point I assume they will steal the rest. I'm definitely never going back. read more

Finding a good water color artist is not easy, and Lucky Bamboo had us consult with Leah for our design and while the design is the same on these bestie tattoos, she even customized the colors in the watercolor to match our personalities. DO NOT give your business to this shop!!! They DO NOT stand behind their work. I waited till I was in my 60's to get a tattoo because I was worried about getting a bad one and I did my research before selecting Lucky Bamboo. I went in asking for a specific color, the artist talked me out of it and now I have a disaster of a tattoo. Their website says they "treasure" their clients, but that's plain bullshit. Jared, who I think is the owner, stated he would mention my mental instability in this review to try and dismiss it. I have tried for several months to resolve this issue calmly and peacefully and now he's calling me mentally unstable and is unwilling to even let me see another tattoo artists in the shop. Now that is customer service at its finest---NOT!! All they want is your money and for you to just accept what you get, even when it's awful. TOTAL HACK SHOP!!!! I wouldn't give them any stars, but the site makes me give at least one. UPDATE: Yes my wife called/texted on my behalf....she's an Executive Assistant and is much more comfortable doing these things. Technology is simply not my thing.....but that does not change the fact that my tattoo needs to be "saved".....Thankfully I've found a much better quality shop who has agreed to do so. We never attacked anyone, simply stated our unhappiness with the result and lack of customer service/satisfaction. Jared is the only one who was mean and nasty. Read his reply as proof. The tattoos are quality and line up with what you would expect to pay for a quality product. This is the best place to get a tattoo in my opinion. The bad reviews on Lucky Bamboo Tattoo dont ever seem to have even gotten a tattoo, but instead leave a trash review because they canceled their appointments the day of and lost thier deposit. This policy is clearly outlined when you set up your Tattoo appointments. I have been going here since Jan 19 and havent lost a penny. The front desk staff was very knowledgeable and set an appointment with Leiah. She fixed my 20 year old tattoo (looks better than it did new) and I got a new design in the same appointment. I have another appointment this week to update a 17 year old tattoo and will be making more appointments. This is the BEST place to get a tattoo... So I am new to Utah and I am looking forward to getting a new tattoo and piercing artist. I got a gift card for Christmas to this place for $150. I contacted the shop and fist of all the prices are so ridiculous!! I've been tattooed in California, Alaska, Nevada, I have never seen a shop minimum at $155.00, that was the cheapest artist they had at the time I got tattooed. After sending them 4 different designs I asked the artist to pick one of the designs that will work within her timeframe and price. We agreed to a design I picked it and paid. The appointment was great, receptionist was the very kind and the place looks very clean. I loved that. But when it came to do the tattoo that we agreed on I was told it was only the writing that I agreed to, which we didn't, we agreed to the whole piece. While trying to figure it out the artist seem very pushy abs in a rush, she said, this is what we agreed on, if you don't want it you can pay more. By this time I was just frustrated, I was excited to get a tattoo, I drove a lot to get to the location, as much as I wanted to just leave I didn't want the money go to waste so I just agreed to get the writing. It took soooooo long!! She took forever. I have full pieces done on my leg that was faster then this. Seems like they just take there sweet time to squeeze out all the money they can. Anyways. My daughter had an appointment with an artist last week. The artist had a family emergency, which she later told my daughter was she could not find daycare, so she rescheduled for a later date next week. Which my daughter had no issue with! My daughter since had a medical emergency and will still be in the hospital when the appointment got rescheduled to. I called to reschedule her appointment and was told "they would not reschedule it due to they seven day notice of cancellation policy" and they would be keeping the 360 dollar deposit. I asked the receptionist if she could wave this and reschedule her. She said no, therefore, I asked to talk with the manager. She said she would leave a message and have her call me back. To her credit, the manager called back within an hour, however, she would not wave the policy or reschedule. I explained the nature of my daughter's emergency to her and she still refused. I explained my daughter makes near minimum wage and saved hard for this tattoo and we just wanted to reschedule due to her medical emergency, which we said we would give proof of as well. Still she said no. I asked if she would talk with the owner, I assume she did, because she called me in about an hour and still said they would not reschedule she would have to repay. It's unfortunate that people can't work with each other in a time of crisis! Everyone needs help sometimes! I was hoping for a little compassion and just simply reschedule this appointment that the artist rescheduled already. Very disappointed in the lack of support for mental illness from this company! Do not give Lucky Bamboo Tattoo a deposit for any more than the minimum, even if you are SURE you will be there. I was even planning on paying for the full estimate, it's a good thing I didn't. I gave them a $500 deposit and due to medical reasons, I could not have the tattoo done. Since I didn't know when my cardiologist would say it was OK to go off my blood thinner I was unable to rebook and I lost my whole deposit. When I can, I will still get my tattoo, but for sure not at this place. read more

They take your money before the tattoo is already done. I had paid them $310 as an artist design fee and they had put me on the schedule for August 4. I found someone else to do it sooner and so I called them to get a refund of that $310 but unfortunately they told me that it's nonrefundable. They aren't at a loss at all but I am. I called them back later to see if I could do a different design for the same amount and they wouldn't even work with me. They told me that initial payment is nullified and another down payment would be required if I wanted to change anything. I would not suggest even considering going to work with this business. Good businesses are built on positive relationships. This business screwed me over and didn't think twice about it. Thanks for $310 down the drain. read more

I had a wonderful interaction with the owner of this shop. Over a year ago an artist that I scheduled my tattoo with walked out on the shop, the artist was amazing enough to take the price of this deposit off of the tattoo at his new shop. After about a year of no artists that I felt I wanted a tattoo from Lucky Bamboo I reached out to see the possibility of receiving this refund back. The first time I called I was informed I would need to speak with Jared, now after countless weeks I finally received a response from him after posting a review for his business. This issue could have been resolved the first week I contacted the shop with Jared telling me I could not get my deposit back, and explaining to me why. Instead, it turned into a multi week ordeal, I never heard "you wont get your deposit" until about week 5, at which point I just wanted to speak with Jared regardless as I was told I wold be able to. So instead of every returning my phone call, he send me the email attached to this review. Please be warned as the language is anything but pleasant. read more

Awesome Experience from start to finish. Let's start with the very nice receptionist, Casey. I stopped by unannounced and she was extremely helpful. This is my first tattoo so I am sure that most of my questions were very rudimentary and ones that she has answered a thousand times and she answered all of them without any condescension or exasperation. Casey also gave me a quick tour of the shop. Extremely clean place, surgically clean. Met with Pineapple and we went over my reference material and spoke of what I was looking the end product to be. We decided on a design and scheduled the tattoo. Regarding the deposit policy. I felt that it was clearly outlined in both the written material and in person. Pineapple reviewed the policy clearly with me and I felt that I was appropriately informed. Personally I understand and agree with their deposit policy and found it very easy to follow. The tattoo process itself was very nice. Again, a very clean and private area. Pineapple was very professional and efficient. He occasionally would ask if I was doing 'ok' and made sure the experience was a good one. The tattoo turned out amazing. Better then I had envisioned. I decided to go to Walt because several of my friends had gotten tattoos from him and not only were they amazing tattoos in terms of quality and talent but they looked great over time. I contacted Walt and told him my idea. I wanted a skull with trees and mountains incorporated into it. He completed a couple different sketches, all of which covered up my previous tattoo. He was willing to make changes to the design, and came up with a beautiful tattoo that combined all the things I wanted. I was nervous about getting the tattoo, because my previous experience had been so horrible. Walt was patient with me, and has a very light hand. I sat through the first 2.5 hour session with discomfort only in the last 30 minutes. My next session of 2 hours went even more smoothly and I couldn't be happier with the results. It's more beautiful than I thought it would be and covers up my previous tattoo perfectly. i will only go to Walt for all my tattoo needs! read more

The most unethical tattoo shop I've have ever heard of or visited. Christina upon reviewing the tattoo I wanted told me she could do it. I paid her upfront for a full sleeve. I went in and had my first of 4 sessions in which she did 1/4 of my sleeve. It was awful. Not only is it nothing like what I asked for but I am horribly scarred, the lines are aweful and it's an embarrassment to even look at. My dr has noted these scars are not normal and that the artist was to heavy handed with her needle. I even paid for the lucky bamboo aftercare! I tried calling the owner 4 times with no response after being referred to him from Christina. I then filed a dispute with my credit card company. The owner Jared responded to my dispute stating he met with me and reviewed my scars and that they are normal. A total fraudulent lie! He has never once met with me in fact I've never seen or spoke to the man. Then he proceeded to write in the letter that the balance of my 1200.00 was forfeited because I did not go in and have my tattoo completed within the appropriate time. So not only is he lying as Christina told me I had a year to complete it, he is stealing my money. Christina told me another artist in the faculty could fix the tattoo. I have all the emails between Christina and I Why would I go in and have more damage done to my arm and a tattoo I did not want placed on my body? I will be seeing this establishment in court as this is fraud and I will not stand for this. I have all documentation to prove my case. How sad that a service business treats there cust Mets like this. Read any of the negative reviews and you will see what this owner is all about. Buyer beware! read more

Beware of Artist: Pineapple. This shop requires a $200 deposit BEFORE drawing up a thing. So if you don't like your sketch, tough, you're out $200. I had this very experience with Pineapple. For 6 weeks I could not get a sketch I approved of. He took as long as 2 weeks to answer emails. The day before my appointment I still don't have a final. I told him I'm not coming unless I get a final sketch. With every adjustment the price climbed and climbed. Finally he was mad that I wasn't coming and told him he was over priced. I'm the customer.
