When I first got my dog I was looking for a groomer and had been recommended Lucky Dog quite a few times. I've been taking her to Lucky Dog ever since she was 6 months old. They've always done a great job and their prices are very reasonable. (For the exact same service other places I've been quoted upwards of $100.) I love the salon so much I drive all the way from Boise :) Bailey, my Goldendoodle, always leaves soft and smelling great. The groomers nicked and scraped my dog up. They did not inform me of the injuries they caused. I understand these things happen, especially because my dog had not been groomed in awhile. However, I should have been informed if my dog was hurt during grooming. When I called to inquire about her injuries I was met with hostility. The stylist that groomed her would not talk to me about my dog and he hung up on me. I would not recommend trusting your animal with this salon as they are irresponsible and refuse to take ownership of their mistakes. read more

Andrew was the best groomer I have ever taken my dog to, I have been told in the past from other groomers that my dog is "difficult", but Andrew said he was just fine and even took the time to explain what part my dog didn't like and how he worked around it. I took my golden retriever to this groomer for the 20th time and instead of the usual groom, she was shaved everywhere except her tail and front legs. When they called to confirm how short we wanted her, we stated to cut ONE INCH off of her FOUR INCH fur. That leaves a three inch length. Currently she is a quarter of an inch long. Unacceptable. When we called to ask what happened, the owner was not only extremely rude, he also boasted that he was the business owner, and could do whatever he wanted and then hung up on us. I called again to ask if this is the normal practice, and before any further conversation, he called us "nasty people" and hung up again. I'm never going back to this groomer for their unprofessionalism, lack of respect, disregard for their clients wishes and bad business. read more

Shaved my whole dog down, wasnt ready when promised, and then after we rescheduled for a later time I bstill sat in the parking lot another 45 min for them to finish. They kept the sweater she came in with & charged me extra for matted hair. She was fully combed out before we took her in. The whole thing was bizarre. I never went back even though I was offered a free visit to fix everything. That was kinda funny cause my dog was shaved & it would take a good 6 mo to grown it to the point of her even needing a trim, let along over a year to grow everything else out to the point she was at before her visit there. read more

I have been going to the salon for YEARS and the reviews that speak of a man handing their dog to them or plural groomers are simply being untrue!! That leads me to think there may be a smear campaign against her for some reason or another but I guarantee you it's is not due to the quality of her services!! She is the sole owner of this salon, works alone, is the receptionist, the cleaner, bookkeeper and the only groomer. Her love for animals is apparent the moment you walk in the door!! My grandfather had an appointment at 9am that he had been waiting 2 weeks to get in. He got there and called and called and called got no answer at all, he did call earlier then when they opened because there open sign was on. And then called more after 9am and no answer. When I called to talk to someone about the problem because he left at 9:30 with no help, the lady I talked to was extremely rude and was saying that he left before his appointment which he did not. And all she had to say was well everything's time stamped and logged into the computer there's nothing they can do. Well thank you for the waste of time. I would never recommend this groomer. When I called to make a appointment with them I had a great conversation with a lady that listened to all I was requesting to be done and was very nice. When dropping my Golden off on 01/18/21 a man met me at the door and proceeded to take him in. I stopped him and asked what all was being done (double checking) he stated "just a trim" I then went on to correct him with what all was discussed before hand. We needed feet trimmed, a good de-shedding wash n dry, nails done and his areas on his inner side legs taken care of. Picking up, was a $70 bill which I tipped an extra $10. It was dark and I was once again met outside. When loading up into vehicle my dog was still wet and smelt like wet dog. His nails were soooo bad that when my dog stepped on me it drew blood on my side with scratches. My vehicle was COVERED in hair. I had to brush him after getting home. His downstairs was BUTCHERED looking like a hot mess. His feet were not done at all. When I called to discuss the issues the man he was SUPER RUDE and CALLED ME NAMES then HUNG UP ON ME! I was was very polite when going into the conversation. I called back again until he answered. He did not offer to fix anything and stated that I did not request what I was asking for so it was my problem. I told him "yes, I did when I made the appointment." He then read off what was written on his schedule. How is that my issue that my requested info was not written down at time of making appointment?!? I am out $80 and having to make another appointment elsewhere. I see now why he got the way he did after reading other reviews. Lesson learned ALWAYS READ REVIEWS. I am not the first customer he has treated like dirt and hung up on stating "YOU ARE WEIRD, NASTY AND I DONT NEED YOUR BUSINESS." read more

I have taken my dogs to lucky dog for years! Not sure what was different about today but I have a golden retriever that is usually trimmed...I got a call from Cameron at 4:30 asking about how short....surprised as I had never been asked regarding this.... I have a GOLDEN RETRIEVER...never have I been called about how short....I told them take an inch?! never ever have I gotten her back shaved like we got her... who shaves a golden retriever?!?! ....we have been there at least 5 or more times and recommend you to many people. I called after paying and giving a fairly hefty tip and we were hung up on! We were treated so horribly and that makes me sad! This has never happened but my husband has always been worried why my dog was so anxious and did not want to stay ....I had to drag her out of my car...I am sorry that you are down employees but my dog is my kid and I trusted her with you...but no longer! read more

Not a good place of business, not run by an honest business person either. Look closely before you send your furry 4 legged friend here. Dogs have been cut fairly badly while being groomed here. This is a dishonest establishment. If you don't want to risk having your dog getting an infection from being groomed, then I advise that you don't support this business. We took our dogs in to get baths and nails trimmed. We never bring our dogs out in public and they only stay at our home and not around other dogs. They caught kennel cough after going to this business for baths. I called to let them know so they can be sure to clean better so that other people's dogs don't get sick also. The man on the phone said, "you can't tell me that your dogs got sick here." I explained that they have only been home and not in public anywhere else and are even vaccinated for kennel cough. He still argued with me and said it wasn't their fault. All I wanted was for them to be aware and to sanitize better for future reference. We paid them $100 including tip to bathe and trim our dogs nails and I am very disappointed in their service. Whatever you do do not take your animals here. read more

Just moved here from out of state. Have 2 Jack Russells. Have used the same groomers for years. These people from Lucky Dog are fantastic. My dogs looked awesome. My jacks are broken coat which means they have longer coats especially their faces's. They trimmed perfectly. I highly recommend this place. Dog lovers for sure. read more

We have taken our three dogs to Lucky Dog Salon for two years. We've had our girls clipped and shaved the same way every time. My wife normally takes them in, but I did this time. I explained that we wanted everything done exactly the same and even mentioned that it would be in our girls' file. I was given an amount (so I could bring in cash...they don't take cards), which was exactly the amount we paid each time before. Several hours later, I got a phone call to saying they were done. When I arrived to pick up my dogs, the tail of one dog was shaved down to the tip and then the tip was left a big fuzz ball, like a poodle (she's a German Shepherd/Chow Chow/Retriever mix). Our Collie/Setter mix dog didn't look like she had been cut at all. In addition, she was wearing the wrong collar and they gave me the wrong leash. We didn't have a problem with the 3rd dog (she just needed washed and nails clipped). When I addressed the wrong collar/leash issue, the guy (Cameron, I believe) acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. He eventually, yet reluctantly, searched and found them. When I got home, my wife was NOT happy about the job Lucky Dog Salon had done. She called them to address the issue, but didn't get a return call until later the next day. When she did get a call back, Cameron was instantly defensive. We were told they don't keep records; that their cuts were done on a case by case basis. We were told we could bring our dogs back in and, for an additional fee, they'd cut them again. WE PAID $150 FOR THEIR SERVICE!! Cameron told my wife he would be cussed at (she never did) and then hung up on her!! We will NEVER take our dogs to Lucky Dog Salon again! They run a sham business and treat their returning customers horribly. Cameron didn't take responsibility for the crappie job he did on our girls...he blamed me for not telling him what we wanted done. He told my wife they don't keep records, but told me they do. They couldn't get the right collar and leash back to me! They can't keep their clients straight!!! $150 is a LOT of money to pay for dog grooming. We should get what we pay for! This was THEIR mistake and they should have offered to fix it WITHOUT charging an additional fee!!! DON'T TAKE YOUR DOGS TO LUCKY DOG SALON!!!!! read more

We moved to the area about 10 months ago and this is the 3rd groomers we've tried and we are extremely happy with the job that was done. I just took my sweet Dog Penny there yesterday for the first time. So grateful to have found Lucky Dog Salon and Sarah who rearranged her schedule to fit my 7 year old lab in. My husband was the one to pick her up and said when he walked in she was still getting her nails trimmed and was wagging her tail the whole time. Not only does penny look great and smell great but they were so affordable. I had called a couple of places for a quote but Because like everyone else living on a budget I decided I would just drive Penny to couple places to get a accurate quote and Lucky Dog was the first and last place I went to. We have taken our dogs to Lucky Dog to be cut and groomed for years and have always been pleased with the result. They used to rent space in a dark basement downtown that required you to climb down stairs, but last year they purchased a little house on 12th. They remodeled it to fit their needs and the result is very warm, professional, and welcoming. You might be greeted by one of the groomers' personal pets, french bulldogs or perhaps a miniature goat, who will come over and give you a friendly welcome if you invite them to do so. You don't have to have an appointment if you only need to have nails cut. We take our rescue pug in for a trim and they are able to trim her quickly and easily which we could not manage at home, even with two. I hold her head and talk to her while they trim so fast that she doesn't have time to bite or feel the angst. Murphy, a giant papillon that we have trimmed in a short puppy cut, doesn't like to be left anywhere away from his people. They always greet him at the door by name. Autumn, who is taking a break after the birth of her last child, would hold and cuddle and talk to him in order to soothe his worries. She really is the dog whisperer! You can't pay with a credit card which requires an additional fee, but you can easily pay with a check as well as cash. We always add on a tip because we appreciate the job they do.
