Door of hope is a fabulous place thst actually cares of your next steps in life . From day one I've…read morebeen treated kindly and all the staff here is Absoutly helpful and kind . I know I will be leaving here with a savings account and money in it and a good budget plan in hopes of never being homeless again . My son loves this place to . Gets along great with other children . There are rules but hey, rules are everywhere . Follow them , pay your rent and things will be good . Thank you to my case manager although a lil tough at times it's good for me to hold me accountable for whats needed . I speak from mine and my son's experience and we are grateful and happy to be here and learning to save and budget . And we thank Gabriel very much for taking out the time to help us budget and his positive advice on things we needed advice on . This guy is akways active with our case and is a positive guy to talk to . He's is a manager I believe of this program and truly cares of his people living here .

I'm currently staying at the door of Hope I've been on the coordinated entry system for 2 years of…read morethat 2 years I have been removed as inactive five different times I've had two housing referrals go completely ignored and I have screenshots to prove it I have had no case management since July and they tried to lock the doors on me but I made them go through the legal process because they cannot just lock a door on somebody after I've been living here for a year and a half I have a terminally ill husband and two small children at Christmas time they intentionally left my kids out of getting toys donated not coming from their pocket and they didn't tell me until the 18th of December so that I couldn't sign up for anything else because it was too late so every kid in the apartment got a toy but mine and I have an email to prove the director saying that it's not her problem today I am adamantly looking for low-income housing for my family and I'm calling everything that I put my cell phone waitlist-wise and three different apartments have told me that they sent me letters to this address and that they were to return to sender I've also had my public housing email sent back I've had my IHSS mail return to sender I've had my bank returned to sender. When I address the situation all they tell me is my bad human error I've been on the CBS news I've gone to the department of Justice the housing commission HUD the mayor city councilman the director the director of homeless services for salvation army San Diego. They've denied my housing referrals that come to me from the city because I have to go through case management to get them they're refusing to case manage me but refusing to take their name off of my case so I can have another case manager their intentionally sabotaging me so that I'm left to go nowhere but the street. Everybody donates and everybody thinks these places are so great and holy because their churches no they're the biggest crooks we don't get anything I've never been given a blanket a T-shirt nothing from this place no food I do everything myself they charge me rent on top of that even though my husband is 24-hour care dependent I'm not allowed to have a respite worker come in I'm not allowed to have help with my kids nothing so I am left to my own with no help and then they have all these requirements that they want you to complete but they don't do anything to help you. Just the fact that they would leave an 8-year-old and a 10 year old out of Christmas and make them witness every other child get gifts but them tells you exactly what kind of people these are Heather St Aimee Maria Trullio Leslie and Megan these are evil vindictive crooks. They have no good intention the only time they're nice to people that live here is when the donators come and feed us at Christmas time or Thanksgiving if you get invited they'll be nice to you at that time but that time only. I am not going to stop fighting until I can get my story out. They do not get to do this to me and my kids they mess with the wrong one and I can tell the lady who donated her stuff here they throw that in the trash everything that's donated to the salvation army at that back bend or at the front desk goes the next day straight to the dumpsters just so you guys know you're probably better off donating somewhere else if you truly want the people you're donating to to receive the items we don't get none of that we get spoiled food with gnats on it and that's just left on a table in the front if you grab it in time you can have some that's about the most amount of help you're going to get I've never been case managed I've never had a housing plan nobody's ever given me a referral nothing and I have evidence for anybody who would like to see

I'm finally on the family restoration program and I share a room, so my rent is $375 a month which…read moreis more affordable for me. The people that I have meet with that are in the program are really nice and helpful. Of course, there are rules and guidelines that you must follow, this is a program to help you get your life in order and the program classes count as hours needed for cal-works. They have done a lot of remodeling and the place is looking really good. The playground has been fixed and is now safe for the little ones to play. They have put in BBQ and a nice picnic area to eat in. The Church/dining hall has been cleaned up and looking nice. The room that I share is okay. I have a nice clean bed to sleep on with my son. There is a mini frig in the room, No microwave, TV with cable and lots of shelf space. The only problem that I have is that when taking a shower the water goes from hot to cold in a blink of an eye but it's not that big of a deal. I have come across a couple of bugs but I just put out some bug traps and they're gone. I'm feeling happy and blessed to be here with my son. I'm thankful for everyone who decided to take a chance on me and letting us into the program; even after reading first review on ECTLC. The truth of the matter here is that, I am honest about what I experience about the place I'm reviewing. I don't feel that getting nasty or ugly about it is helpful but putting in an intelligent and honest review will help people decide whether or not that this is the place for them. This is in reply to Jason's review. You are allowed to have phones but when you are in class the phone must be on vibrate or silent. You are not to leave the class to answer your phone, either. (I'm sure that in an emergency that would not be a problem) There is no smoking on the premises but you can smoke out on the street away from the buildings. This is a family program and keeping the kids away from smoke is healthy.

What could improve?? A LOT! FIRST having a new graduate be transitioned out before they have a job…read moreand money saved up. What's up with that?? Second background checks on staff!!! Y'all just let anyone in eh? Im still freaking traumatized thanks. Mental health evaluations on people before they come into the program. Because....yikes! Im implicated in something I'm not even a part of . just because I knew a certain former staff member. Staff taking responsibility where it lies with them would also help a lot and go a long way. That place is a depressing program. I was harassed by staff and people in the program alike for a year. All bcuz I spoke up. Yet nothing was done to stop it or prevent it. They simply didn't care. More real life classes need to be applied as well. When you're done with the year you are not ready for the world again. No skills except laundry and housekeeping. If you are not versed in finances you are literally screwed. Stop following people when they go to Albertsons. It's creepy! AsF! I always looked over my shoulder when I left campus. Also the staff members will literally end up where you are going, bcuz they take back roads. It's EXTREMELY creepy and unsettling. The people in the program are not too nice ..they believe the gossip that goes around that place. They will clique up against you and talk smack. Go to your social media and take screenshots of your posts in order to start drama. Do I think this place has value? No not at all. Instead of kicking said staff member out, she was allowed to stay in the same dorm with me where the abuse continued. Towards the end of my stay there she finally ceased. Overall I wouldn't recommend this program to anyone.
