Though I didn't see much of Sheffield during my trip there, I'm happy to have checked out Lucky Fox! The crowd and ambiance were both pretty hipster (so, my ideal setting, if we're being honest), but without that "trying-too-hard" vibe that a lot of cafés put on to attract customers.
I ordered the waffles and fresh fruit, which were lightly sweet and perfectly filling. I also gave their flat white a try, and it was a lovely drink. My friend and I also decided to split the fried mac & cheese balls as somewhat of an appetizer, and they were surprisingly incredible - definitely more of a baked mac texture, but they were served over a bed of rocket, tomatoes, and parmesan, and covered with Frank's hot sauce, all of which were redeeming factors. One of those was more than enough though, so I'd recommend skipping the appetizer unless you're there with two or more others.
I only saw the Lucky Shake in all its glory for a brief moment, but I almost wish I had skipped the waffles and gone for that. What an experience that would have been. read more
