In a time where gentle waves on long hair is on trend, I had genuine dread about finding someone who could make me feel like the most glamorous version of myself, not squeezed into a template. I showed up with my naturally grey undercut and knew I was in good hands and that we were speaking the same language. She nailed it immediately on my trial after only seeing a few reference photos and we barely had to tweak. Anna of Lucy La Riot is the real deal. Her photos speak for them self. But here's my review anyway! From the beginning, Anna is friendly and accommodating. I know that this is a huge selling point for anyone apprehensive about doing a pinup photo shoot. She's also insanely talented which makes her studio such an awesome package deal. The studio itself is filled to the brim which gorgeous lingerie, costumes, shoes, jewelry, accessories and props. Just about anything you can imagine, Anna can create. What's most exciting though is that she has items in every size, so you can rest assured that you will be able to find something that fits. Picking out wardrobe is really fun, but shooting is where the magic happens. My best advice is to just let go and have fun. Anna is going to make you look like a rock star no matter what. I decided to book a shoot for fun, and the experience was everything I dreamed and more. Before the shoot, Anna was available via email to answer any of my questions. Her studio is easy to get to and has a laid-back, intimate vibe. Anna herself could not have been more lovely as she helped me pick outfits and shoes from her incredible selection, then did my hair and makeup. She's a total pro and the whole process was very organized. I loved the hair and makeup looks, and dressing up for each set-up was so much fun! Anna has a whole closet full of props to take each look up a notch. I felt totally at ease shooting with her, and had a blast following her directions to pose like models in the 40s and 50s. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Anna, the photographer of Lucy La Riot. Pin up modeling and photoshoots may seem intimidating but Anna takes the pressure right off. She is incredibly friendly and sweet; it felt like hanging out with a friend. Anna worked with me to find the perfect themes for the photo session. She has a wide array of cute retro clothing ranging from size x-small to x-large so finding a look is not a problem. I was very happy with the makeup and hair looks she did on me. She made me feel very confident and comfortable in front of the camera. Anna sent me the contact sheets a few hours after my shoot and I selected six to retouch. When I got the retouched versions back, I was so ecstatic that I asked her to retouch five more of them! It was hard to believe that that was me in the photos. So I was nervous as hell, sincerely expecting the photographer would sit me down, look me in the eye, and say 'you're too old and not photogenic enough for this.' The adorable photos in the window featured women of all shapes and sizes, and the entrance of the quaint shop felt playful/welcoming and not in any way intimidating. Something told me I just had to give it a try. So I booked an appointment for a two hour session. When I arrived for my photo shoot I was greeted by the lovely Anna (photographer and owner). She at once made any insecurities I had about being in front of the camera vanish as she helped me find a look (outfit, hair, and makeup) that felt right for me. There were so many outfits to choose from and at no time did I feel pressured to hurry up and choose, instead she guided me around the well-equipped store and encouraged me to choose something I felt comfortable with. It was like having a close friend go clothes shopping with you! By the time I got in front of the camera I felt completely comfortable (and pretty darn confident too!) in my get-up and was ready to get the shots underway. I recently had a pinup shoot with Anna and have to say I was extremely happy with the results. I was pretty nervous and am not a person that's natural in front of a camera and her and her asst made me feel very comfortable. The whole experience was well worth the cost and the wardrobe selection was awesome! Hair and makeup was authentic and photographed well. Guidance on poses was provided which was most helpful because posing is harder than it looks! Hundreds of digital proofs were provided and the final shots were retouched nicely. She makes you feel super comfortable and at ease, even for first timers (like me) in front of the camera. I did the package with 4 outfit changes. I had contact sheets of my photos within a few hours of my shoot! Then came the extremely difficult task of narrowing down which photos I wanted. I usually don't post reviews on Yelp unless I absolutely loved a place (or had a bad experience and need to save people from it). I can report that I actually had a great time with Anna at Lucy La Riot. From the moment I walked in she was chatty, friendly and explained everything. Anna did my hair and makeup and provided all of the clothes for the shoot. I asked her to do victory rolls for my hairstyle and when I looked in the mirror I was shocked. I looked like a girl from the 50s. (Bonus points that she found a red lipstick that looked absolutely amazing on me). When it finally came down to take my photos, Anna bossed me around and told me what to do, which was great because I have no idea what to do in front of the camera. Once I left, she had the proofs for me in a few days. I had to pick which ones I wanted edited and had the hardest time choosing as so many of them came out well. Anyway, I finally chose 7 and about a week later I she sent me the high resolution photos with edits. They were flawless more or less. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lucy La Riot to someone. I had been wanting to get pin-up style photos taken for a while and was so happy to find Lucy La Riot. So about a year ago I had my shoot just in time for my husband's birthday. I did a two hour shoot. Anna is super sweet and knows what she's doing. I felt really comfortable with her immediately. Well, where do I even start?! I've known about Lucy La Riot for quite sometime now and I've always been interested in pinup. I thought that since Valentines Day is right around the corner and I wanted to do something interesting and different for my boyfriend (and myself), I would finally get enough courage to book my session with Anna! Now... I'm not the most confident person in the wold about their body so doing this photoshoot took a lot for me, but I am SO glad that I had the courage to do it! First of all, the second you walk in the studio Anna makes you feel more than comfortable. I've read other reviews and people have said that she makes all insecurities disappear, which is 100% true. I was so nervous the day before and walking into the studio, but she really cleared up ANY worries or insecurities I had. Made me feel right at home. Everything about the shoot with Anna was so beyond great. She did my hair and make up, which was pinup perfect. For wardrobe, I picked out anything and everything black/red. She helped mix and match all my choices. I was a little shy about trying on some of the things I picked out, but I thought to myself that I should try something different, and if I liked it and it feels good, wear it and feel sexy! Which everything that I ended up wearing in my shoot, I felt so great it. Didnt even think twice about anything!! Also, I've never done a REAL photoshoot before so I warned her that I was really inexperienced with posing and such. She coached me through every move and pose, I couldn't have asked for a better coach! haha I feel like my review doesn't even come close to how great this experience was in general and working with Anna! Okay, LOVE ANNA! All of the other reviewers weren't lying! I had wanted to do a Calendar shoot for my boyfriend and was originally going to book wit another studio but they were booked out. So I came to Yelp and found Lucy La Riot and I am sooooo glad that I did! Her prices are so reasonable and this woman is amazing! I came in last Friday morning and I was soo nervous! I came with my boyfriend (there's a little seating area for him and Anna pulled the curtains so he wouldn't peek) and I was afraid that I was going to look awkward and stupid but Anna coached me through all the poses and it was so much fun. I can't stop saying how great she is! She was really easy to talk to during hair and makeup, she makes you feel like you're with a girlfriend. She was kind and patient while I tried on outfits and pulled all of the ones I wanted to see (I'm one of those that like to see ALL of her options before choosing) Her responses are quick, we've emailed back and forth often prior to my appointment with her and even afterwards. My contact sheets come in the next day, and she made me look so amazing that I went ahead and bought extras!! She's in the process of retouching the photos now and I will be getting them next week. Not only was Anna a dream to spend an entire day with, she made each one of us look better than our best! I recently booked a classic pinup shoot for a bachelorette party and it was FANTASTIC from beginning to end! I was there a couple weeks ago for an impromptu Boudior session. Oh man, it was the most fun I've had in a LONG time.
