I kept logging every meal and reporting back, only to be told to eat fewer carbs and move more. I'd feel guilty when I didn't have the "perfect" week. This approach never lasted beyond my appointments, and I'd eventually stop seeing them altogether. I even met with an endocrinologist and did several lab tests. I was convinced that something was wrong with me -- that I was broken. I considered myself someone who knew exactly what to do. By this point, I had a decent understanding of what to eat (and not to eat), how much, and so on. Between years of meeting with doctors and the endless information online about weight loss -- calorie counting, macros, weight-lifting, and trends like intermittent fasting or low-carb diets -- I thought I had it all figured out. But in June, I was the heaviest I'd ever been, with no signs of change, despite my vigilance at home. And truthfully, living that way wasn't realistic... at all. I was convinced that I had all the information in front of me, but maybe it just wasn't meant to happen for me. And then, somehow, with Jen, it all finally clicked. I am an extremely picky eater and don't really care for meat so for me, most meals usually meant 85% carbs. Through my time with Lorraine over the past few months, I have learned a great deal about what makes up a well-balanced meal and in return, I have lost close to 15 pounds....and I'm just getting started! I have been with Lorraine for almost a month now and can safely say that she has completely changed my life and point of view on food. She provides such a comfortable and safe environment to talk about not just food, but my cognitive and mental outlook on my life. Upon my consultation, she made sure to note all aspects of my health and past eating habits, and created a delicious customized meal plan based on my preferences, as I am primarily plant based. These plans also integrate meal prep into them, which has reduced my snacking tendencies, as I can just grab my prepped meals from the fridge. I have fallen in love with cooking at home again and get excited about each meal as they are all so diverse and completely satiate me. It's crazy how quickly my taste preferences have changed and crave her recipes.
