I was happy to see this "Txoko" word and I immediately reserved for lunch on the app "thefork". Ground floor bar is for people without reservation, small bar area, it doesn't look big at all. If you make a reservation, nice dining room area is upstairs. Lunch course meal starts with a salad and five tapas or pintxo since it's Basque food. Followed by the main dish of pork rib. If I knew how big this pork rib was going to be, I would have saved my appetite for the meat. Pork was tender and so flavorful. I wished I had bigger appetite. Lunch for two includes a couple of glass of wine per person. Great place to come for leisurely lunch. We were there for an hour and half. Enjoying wine and delicious Basque region food.

We wandered down the streets and found this amazing hidden gem right behind the Alcazar. The food is delicious and at a great price. The chairs are comfortable with wonderful umbrellas and twinkle lights and water sprayers to keep you cool. (Check out the photos.) I ordered the chicken salad and it was delicious. Look at the photo but it has chopped up apples and was so refreshing yet filling. My friend ordered the Bibula hamburger. It is made from Galician beef (which I had to look up). Galician beef it is a unique style of meat from the Basque region of Spain which uses older cows. It is compared to wagu and many say it is even better. Look it up it is interesting. The staff is not overly friendly and it is pretty typical for Spain but the food is great. Just seat yourself outside at table and then go ahead and and order at the window.

We did not eat here because we stupidly grabbed food at a terrible place nearby, but I wish he had saved room to try stuff. This place is like a vertical food court. There's a wine area, a coffee area, a burger counter, a tapas section, an Asian fusion section and more. You can take your food anywhere in the building. There are comfy couches and chairs all over. On the top floor, there's a patio where people are smoking. (When we visited, they had some plastic sheeting stuff blocking the open air. Not much of a view to be had anyway.) We grabbed a couple glasses of wine and made ourselves comfortable on the couch. They sell tempranillo here - it's a wine you rarely find, but it's awesome. As is the custom in most of Europe, the wine was really cheap. Mercado de San Agustin is a modern marvel in a very old town.
